To explain the noise from the 10ft pipe edition; I bet you anything the noise is caused by air going from sonic to supersonic flow. The diaphragm is likely causing compression waves to overlap, compressing the air and causing it to go supersonic.

Hey ! Remember my comment about science that makes what you do actually work ? Well this is the perfect example of a video that (to my humble opinion) woud require a tiny scientific explanation. I'm really interested in what's going on scientifically that makes the air blowing turn into sound waves production. Plus : your "audible" sponsor seems nice ! I'll try listening to one of the audio books, Thanks for sharing.

@philipuren38575 жыл бұрын
A great exercise in the acoustics of an air horn. So, extending the length of the exit pipe deepens the sound or do we need to enlarge the size of the T-Piece (horn body)? The long tube had a very warbled (deep sound) effect, would a funnel at the end smooth out the sound? How long does the diaphragm last? This looks like it doesn't need so much pressure to operate like the truck horns on the market that require a bulky (and expensive) reservoir tank. This being the 21st century where everything works at the press of a button, can I use the standard air pump from an old set of musical air horns? Might be a good project for my high school engineering class to explore
