@@garycarpenter2980 yeah, that's a great one, how perfectly they mirrored each other. I also love the freezer episode, where Lucy and Ethel buy two sides of beef. The washing machine episode is classic too. It's my all time favorite sitcom, nothing compares to it, IMO.

It was the series I Love Lucy that inspired me to pursue acting. Lucille Ball made everyone laugh, made everyone happy through television. She made doing acting fun and she showed that it was cool to pursue an acting profession. So much so that my own career path led to the New Orleans Film Festival and a nomination for a theatre role. I owe Lucille Ball and reruns of I Love Lucy a debt of gratitude.

Desi Arnez was a deeply painful love that Lucy could not get out of her system. That woman loved that man till the day she died.

Desi always loved Lucy too - also I feel that she loved Gary Morton, they lived together for 28 years without all pain and angst that Desi brought into their lives.
@andrewmiller4885 Жыл бұрын
@@LJ-ht4zs Lucy seemed to be happy with Gary that's for sure. There was a good level of peace, emotional security, and contentment. However, Gary Morton said something very telling directly after Lucy died. His words were......."Lucy is finally happy now, she is with Desi." Gary with that statement, clearly knew, the man that Lucy truly loved was Desi. She was very fond of Gary, he treated her well, but Gary never truly had Lucy's heart. I'm sure he knew it. Gary Morton was a good man living with that knowledge. Thank you for your comment.

@@andrewmiller4885 Yes, I guess there are different kinds of love - One thinks that if she continued in her 1st marriage she would not have survived. Her daughter, Lucie Arnaz, said once they divorced they became kinder to one another, that underlying it all they did love each other. (Of course as children, they wanted to see their parents together, but the insight was gained when she was older) They stayed friends to the end and admitted they still loved each other.
@andrewmiller4885 Жыл бұрын
@@LJ-ht4zs Yep, agree with all that you said. Thank you. Desi's tribute letter to Lucy read by Robert Stack at the Kennedy Center really breaks me up, as does the expression and pain on lucy's face as she is hearing it.

When some talk about the I Love Lucy character as a child character - I saw her as an enjoyable character who had a plan & wanted to display her talents - she often was spectacular in doing such.
@kreese3163 жыл бұрын
It is so weird to hear her very low smoker voice when she spoke in a medium-high voice on the show, until she did baby talk or screeched. I always loved and respected her business acumen and amazing comedic acting. I was sad to see two interviews recently with her daughter, Lucy Arnaz. She (the daughter) seemed very bitter and just still kind of mad. She was not able to tell the story of the full woman. But, who knows what it was like to live with Lucy.
@LJ-ht4zs2 жыл бұрын
I feel that both her children inherited several million dollars each as well as the opportunity to appear on one of her series. I do not feel that either one of them is that talented and would not have been "discovered"if it were not for their totally talented parents - Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. Both her parents had very difficult pasts - particularly Lucille Ball who worked very hard, earned enough money, bought a house and had her family (mother, grandfather, brother, niece) move to California and took care of them. Don't think Lucie Arnaz any such responsibility - so sorry if your mother seemed perfectionistic or not as present as you would have wished. My mother was also perfectionistic and not completely there and had problems from her past.
@LJ-ht4zs Жыл бұрын
Actually Lucie Arnaz always downplayed her father's addictions: women, booze, and gambling. I am sure she would not have been able to withstand one of those addictions from her husband not less all three.
