Well, you know, this is that "capitalism" that you hear so much about. The business of ANY business is to make money. And without proper oversight/regulation (which the republicans are so vocal about wanting to do away with), they will do exactly that. Which means that if they can't make money from their transaction with you, they will not do business with you. And if they do do business with you, they will make as much money as they can by doing it. We used to understand that, that's why our government put in place regulations to protect consumers. I really don't understand when it was that we lost sight of why those regulations were enacted in the first place, but all the battles fought to place them there seem to have been forgotten. I don't know how many more times we have to go through this exact same scenario. We saw it in banking, we saw it in real estate, we're seeing it in health care...what's it going to take, America, for us to relearn old lessons?????

If you cannot afford to risk your financial future by owning that house, then the place you are wanting to live is probably prone to disasters. Insurance is peace of mind, that’s all. You shouldn’t PLAN to use insurance because you live in a place prone to flooding or wildfires. Move elsewhere. There are 49 other states, pick one.

I live in a state that is prone to hurricanes and have decided NOT to insure my home or possessions. My property is well inland - and I am not worried about flooding or tidal surge. For the president to stand with the UAW people on strike, you have that right in the United States. The mind of any sane person would say it is inappropriate for the president of the USA to stand with them knowing good and well the economy is in a tailspin and the government is about to shut down because they spent more than they took in is insane. This is just grandstanding. No congressperson should be allowed to leave Washington recess or not until a solution has been made. Shame on ALL congresspeople that don't do their job as they were sworn to do. Climate change is real, cyclic, and complicated and has happened over the entire course of geological history, that is, over millions of years. Surely the insurance companies know that climate does change and natural disaster do occur. Disasters cost more in high density population areas like FL and CA. Now Californians and soon all Americans must fear of an inability to pay for insurance or being able to find insurance companies who offer coverage. Fears of rising taxes, food, gas, heating costs, crime, and the many effects of the "New Green Deal", we now must pay for this surge of so-called "immigrants". Our government officials say they are seeking so-called "asylum" and are coming due to "climate change" but they have basically are being invited into our country via all the benefits they are automatically given. Upon signing in, they can get a social security number, driver's licenses, monthly stipends, free housing, welfare and healthcare and are treated better than our veterans. They will soon be voting. NBC and others who have been slow to report on illegal immigration but are starting to report on the immigration crisis which can no longer be ignored. Independent journalists and news have been reporting this all along. Dedicated independent journalists have embedded themselves at the border and along the immigration path and have been reporting on this at least since 2021. The recent surge of immigration was NO a surprise to local communities in TX, they have been living with this and knew the great increase and surge was coming, no thanks to mainstream media.
