I've been browsing through old game reviews. A tendency I've found is that negative reviews get many dislikes, because most of the people looking for them aren't people that never played the game and want to know how it's like (I guess I'm one of the few), but people who have played the game and are looking for other people to praise the game and reinforce their distorted by nostalgia views, all while taking them back to how they felt when first playing the game. Most of the games you played as a child probably suck by today's standards, get over it.

This has all been very well-said (as for the last sentence, on the other hand, about MOST childhood favourites being nowhere near as great as we remember, we shall see, my friend. We shall see. But one thing is for sure, video games I loved as a child when my standards were lower were Mind Over Mutant, Enter the Dragonfly, Sonic Adventure DX, Pac-Man World 3, Nightmare Creatures 2, Super Mario 64 (well, I LIKE the N64 and DS versions, but I don’t LOVE it because while they can appeal to both children and adults with their whimsy colourfulness (mainly the N64 version. While I find the DS version underrated, even I have to admit… the graphics are just like we’d see in any other DS game with 3D graphics - pretty botched up 3D modelling. Sure, the N64 version did have 3D that looked old-school including its polygons, but that’s probably how I like it.) some parts of it don’t hold up like the camera in the N64 version and don’t even get me started on Super Mario 3D All-Stars!!!!), Sonic Colours Wii, the Super Monkey Ball games between 2005 and 2012, etc.) because of its very open-minded attitude that nostalgia can be a curse that clouds objective judgment of how works of fiction can really hold up.

@@kieranstark7213 I don't mind N64/PS1 terrible polygonal graphics, I find them charming. Mostly because I've lived through the era, I understand them in the context they were released. With that being said, I also understand that the graphics are bad enough to be a dealbreaker for newer gamers. Two games that I used to, and still love, but are unanimously hated for being bad games are Dragon Ball Final Bout and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer Stone for the PS1. When I said most games, I really mean it, by the fact that most old games haven't aged well, and that goes for every generation. List every single game you've played as a kid, and I bet most of them don't hold up to today's standards.

Just stumbled onto this review by accident, but man, i really like this video already. And yeah, good point, you fight your way all through the game and you never actually fucking get face to face with Crowley. Its like.. playing Resident Evil 1 or 2 , fighting all those Zombies in each Level while battling some minor boss enemies and in the End you fight some Boss that doesnt have ANY meaning, instead of Birkin because hes still running around , eluding your grasp. They really REALLY fucked up this Sequel.

He's right. Ive had this for years and its combat is very clunky. Its still a good game I have played far worse. Its something you get use to or learn ways to dodge their shitty moves. They usually have a pattern. Darkness of the screen is what shits me most

I will say, this should be a text book example of how not to do a game sequel. Up there with Devil May Cry 2 and Epic Mickey 2. In general, the first game is something I have played but though it was the N64 version and honestly it didn't interest me for long.(Maybe i'll try it again when I get the PS1 version but for now I can say at least the first game was good I would say.) And then when you get to this sequel you wonder what the hell happened between Nightmare Creatures 1 & 2 for this to end up so bad. To me, all they needed to do was enhance the strongest points of Nightmare Creatures' gameplay,tweak some of the issues and make a compelling story. This unfortunately didn't do any of these which is sad because I think there is an audience for this game series. And great review TGX you got some good points against this game.

Yeah there are elements that ain't so great but I had fun on the dreamcast. But the only reason the dreamcast died was internal not bc of the PS2. Love your style bro! New sub!

At the time Peter Moore worked for SEGA as President of the American decision he made some terrible back stabby maneuvers which collapsed the company.

Haha i played this on the dreamcast. I remember i liked the atmosphere, music but man was the gameplay boring... yeah ONE COMBO !! thats the only combo you could do that worked... But you know what? Somehow i kinda want to replay it for shit and giggle... lol NC1 i had to use cheats... the game was way too tough... At least NC2 was doable...

Never played this game, but I gotta say, the most disappointing thing about watching this review, is that the game looks like it could have been amazing, but it’s not. The speed and cinematography on display in the cutscenes, and yes the precanned animations too, looks so unlike anything I’ve seen on the PS1 (at least nothing similar comes to mind at the moment) and looks like it has more in common with games that would appear on future consoles. This really is one of those games that ought to be remade to fix all the problems it has and help it live up to the potential I feel that is buried deep inside. Excellent review tho, it was surprisingly funny, and very well done.

Well do tell me kiddo, how much of this video is based around the difficulty? Almost none. How much of this video is based around broken/inept design, shallow combat, horrible level design, and a completely inconsequential story? Would you look at that, most of it.

Must play a lot better on Dreamcast, I've quite enjoyed what I've played so far once I had sussed the timings. It definitely looks a lot better on DC than PS1 despite what the reviews at the time claimed. It runs at up to 60fps for one.
