I met Robert Englund at Flash Back Weekend this year. After all these years, and telling all the fans the same story his charisma is still there. He's still so passionate about his work its incredible. He's also a super nice guy. We talked about how he ruined sausage pizza for me when I was younger and he ended up telling me the whole story about filming that day.

The part of Freddy Vs Jason where he cuts of the girls nose and it doesn't translate into reality can probably be explained by Freddy's weakened power.

Fun Fact: There actually was a playable demo game of sorts called Nightmare on Elm St. 4: The Dream Master released by a company called the Unicorn Corporation based in the Netherlands. They sold magazines from 1989-1993 and in those magazines were floppy demo disks of upcoming games. In the July 1990 edition they had a floppy disk that had: graphic scenes, a playable demo of "zapping" Freddy with a beam of light, and music all from the movie. Although not really a full game, it's still pretty interesting. The company also did one for Total Recall and Terminator 2: Judgement Day in 1992.

Your videos are great as always. I will reply to one thing you said: "he cuts off her nose in a dream and then she wakes up fine, as if they forgot that what happens in the dreams happens to you in real life" (or something like that)... the premise of the movie is that he (Freddy) had to get his powers back by getting the kids to believe in/fear him again. Also I love the way they mixed things up with Freddy, he's kind of like a good midpoint between Micheal Myers and Jason Jason is essentially little more than an animal, who kills based on instinct rather than personal enjoyment, so you could argue he's not evil, Micheal is Pure Evil who kills without any reason or justification, he just kills cause he can. Freddy is the inbetween, he kills pretty much anyone like Micheal but does so for the sick enjoyment of it. Nice contrast.

Oh I don't know if there's absolutely no mind being Jason's actions. Sometimes his kills have a kind of deliberate irony to them. He doesn't always simply hack people apart. There's a mind there. He's just not a longterm planner. Freddy really is a unique horror movie villain. Not because of his powers, but because he has a personality. Freddy loves what he does. He's laughing and joking the whole way through. Most movie monsters/killers are the freakin' Terminator. Stone faced killing machines on a mission. Freddy though? Freddy is having a good time.

How about Michael Myers vs. the Silver Shamrock robots? (Seriously, what's the problem? BOTH sets of characters were created by the same people). We could even have a plot where both the Silver Shamrock company and Myers's cult are trying to sacrifice millions of children---but for entirely different reasons. And the only way to stop them is to get the cult--with Michael--and the company--with the robots--to fight each other. And the only way to do THAT is by having Dr. Loomis and Dr. Challis join forces!

1,3 & 4 are the only ones worth watching. 4 had a great ending for Freddy and it's honestly better to forget the later sequels ever existed.
@thefanwithoutaface81057 жыл бұрын
Certainly the most consistently scary of the Slasher filers. Nightmare on Elm Street probably has the record for most GOOD sequels in it's library. Part 1, 3, 4, New Nightmare and possibly Part 2 if you ignore certain things, makes a solid 5. Most other slasher films don't have that Halloween: 3, maybe 4 Friday the 13th: 3 Texas Chainsaw: 2

The Fan Without a Face Halloween 3 I disagree because Michael Myers isn't in it. It really doesn't have anything to do with the series

Aside from some problems, 5 wasn't actually bad, and 6 despite its confused Curse of Thorn storyline still dripped with atmosphere throughout in both the theatrical version and producer's cut.

The original ending for Freddy Vs Jason with pinhead sounds actually amazing to me, and Although I think the Ending we have now is pretty good and In character for both Freddy and Jason in my opinion, The originally planned ending sounds much better.

The original plan for Freddy was for him to be a child molester. Apparently in the early 80's when it was being made it was considered too creepy for an R rating and would've resulted in adults only, they wanted to keep it to R so they changed him to a child murderer. This is where the child molester angle came from in the remake - it's what was originally intended for the character. The remake Freddy was originally supposed to look like a realistic burn victim. They really did their research. Unfortunately, they found it was TOO realistic, and actually grossed test audiences out to the point where it was a distraction. So they toned it down and made it a little bit cartoony, which resulted in the CG mess it became.
@fenriz2185 жыл бұрын
In the German version, it's actually made clear from the beginning that he was a kiddie-fiddler, which obviously makes the character even creepier. Liked the idea, that the remake picked up the idea but hated that the screen-writers essentially wasted it in the end. And almost an irony that I just watched a video on former vice-president Joe Biden...
@bentramer6824 жыл бұрын
The no company would take the film until the molester aspect was removed because they thought it seemed to much of an attack on Hollywood films corporation owners. If that doesn't say something, idk what would. For me the molester angle is still very prevalent in all the films.

Hey James, nice video! A little story about Freddy vs Jason: Originally, it was supposed to include Ash from the Evil Dead series...yeah! It was supposed to be Freddy vs Jason vs Ash, I'm not even kidding! Eventhough the movie was never made, they still released a comic book of the original scenario.And also, Jason vs Leatherface exists as a comic book too ;)

I don't consider New Nightmare (it's *not* part 7) as a sequel. It's a stand alone movie where an unknown demon likes the Freddy character so much, it takes his form. But it's not actually Freddy. Calling it a sequel is not correct, imo.

You are correct it isnt a sequel but its still the 7th film in the franchise.
@sperrin7 жыл бұрын
Textra1 Its definetly a sequel. It continues the story of Nancy/Heather. It directly references the original film. Characters return as do plot points from a previous entry. And finally, by the very definiton of the word 'sequel' - New Nightmare fits.
