Nilena is the daughter of and one of the children of Hebe the goddess of life, who has a brother named Azrail (GW!Reaper) god of death-

Good question! Both Dream and Nightmare need to sacrifice power to bring back their mother. If Nightmare isn’t willing to take part of this, then Dream cannot do it. Plus, Dream does not feel as much affection towards his mother as Nightmare does, because he only has a few memories of her. Her death made him so sad that it weakened him and let’s say that his soul went on survival mode and erased all negative thoughts and feeling to obtain again a stable amount of positivity. So, many memories were erased from his mind.
