That Wanted book with the Haunted Mask on the cover was an amazing book I remember reading it in fifth grade and being shocked at how brutal it was

I think R.L.Stine should release a series of Goosebumps books based solely on the hunted mask's. I liked that in part two it was a different mask and they should expand on all the other mask and show what different abilities they all have that the others don't have.

fact for the Haunted Mask filming theres actually 2 different haunted masks. the one you see on display and when Carly-Beth holds it and whatever is that lime green color but the one Kathryn actually wears is more white... ive seen a video showing the Goosebumps props worksop and saw the 2 there...

unfortunately the guy behind the masks and who did the effects is not very smart imo. apparently all the original molds are gone and the screen used masks were thin pulls or perhaps cheap latex was used and are all rotting. had he been a tad smarter he would have preserved the molds and today he could be making a fortune selling them to collectors or at least making a deal to make official masks from the original molds. i guess when the show was made to him and a lot of people who made the episodes it was just another show that would fade into obscurity so they didnt really think about preserving these pieces of history.

TBH the Goosebumps TV series’s two part stories are honestly the best because see here the team had make them two parted so they can get the story in and not drag or make the pasting faster. This in my opinion is why The Haunted Mask is the best Goosebumps tv episode since they had to length the story into two parts to explain the story without those problems.

Carly Beth is also a human being, with feelings of anger and revenge. The mask only gives her the courage to do bad things. The old version of The Haunted Mask obviously showed the Carly’s gradual arousal of evil thoughts and her fear when the mask couldn't be taken off. The new version simply shows the heroine wearing the mask and going drunk and crazy.

Wrong mask. That mask is a wooden one. Stanley Ipkiss's The Mask originally began as a brutal comic book character. For the Jim Carrey film adaptation, The Mask was radically toned down & turned into a slapstick comedy jokester. The Haunted Mask, by comparison, is a sentient face made of synthetic flesh as part of The Unloved collection created by The Shopkeeper (who didn't love himself for who he truly was & tried desperately to manufacture a "perfect" new handsome face for himself, only for each one to turn into a horrifying affront against human nature simply because the self-loathing The Shopkeeper held inside infected the once-beautiful faces, transforming them into The Unloved Ones, with pitifully scare-able Carly Beth being the only one who, at least initially, accepted the most iconic among the lot, which led to the others wanting such affection paid to them, too), which resembles a literal green goblin (no direct relation to corrupt businessman Norman Osborn's villainous alter-ego from the _Spiderman_ comics) with sickly green skin, sunken-in yellow eyes (the monstrous ones which replaced Carly Beth's human ones), a turned-up nose and a mouth full of razor-sharp fangs. In Carly Beth's most recent appearance as the main protagonist (the other stories in the spinoff _Horrorland_ series typically had her in a background supporting role as far as the main plot was concerned), she & The Haunted Mask willingly fused together to pit Evil against Evil by fighting against the malevolent ghost Laura Henry, one of The Haunted Mask's former hosts, who not only gleefully reveled in the chaos she caused whilst under The Haunted Mask's influence, but her vengeful spirit had deliberately returned from beyond the grave specifically to reclaim The Haunted Mask just so she could reek havoc yet again, however this would spell her ultimate undoing, because when she wore the mask to frighten a stable of horses at Tumbledown Farms into stampeding, the herd of horses viciously trampled her & fatally crushed her underfoot, with Carly Beth putting The Haunted Mask on her face & basically goading Laura into repeating the exact same set of circumstances that had led to her demise, thereby subsequently leading to Laura's ethereal form dissipating as a result of having to re-enact her tragic death all over again, with Carly Beth & The Haunted Mask having come to something akin to a mutual understanding, with The Haunted Mask reminding Carly Beth that it views her as its favorite host & looks forward to being worn again the next Halloween.

I think the scariest aspect of the haunted mask is how it feeds on your negative emotions. It pulls your worst aspects out of you and creates a new identity. If left unchecked you could lose your true self forever.

Honestly wasn’t a fan of the solid black eyes in haunted mask 2. I thought it was much more scary to see the eyes give it more expression. Like how Carly Beth was terrified and panicking and you can see how her eyes are different colors as she does it.

These are my two favorite episodes of Goosebumps. But yes, I agree that they should have gotten a different voice actor who can make a better demonic voice. Instead of having the actors doing it themselves. But haunted mask 2 was better when it came to the demonic voice. Just like they did with The Exorcist.

That mask is a brutal comic book character-turned-slapstick-comedy-jokester & not an malevolent sentient entity with an indeterminate gender (alone, The Haunted Mask is an it without any real gender of its own, but considering how its chosen hosts tend to be female, once they put it on, The Haunted Mask probably identifies as female, as well).

By far, the TV show is the best version. I swear Kathryn Long went method with her portrayal! She did a phenomenal job! As far as voice acting, I grew up with an audio cassette of The Haunted Mask II, where Carly Beth is voiced by Anndi McAfee, and I have always wondered if they had done one for the first Haunted Mask if they would have had Anndi voice the Haunted Mask as well (like they did with Andrew Morris with HM2), or if it would have been a different voice actor. If Anndi had voiced the Haunted Mask I wonder what her take on it would sound like.
