Wow, a very good tutorial. You barely stopped talking to draw breath and every sentence was interesting, informative and pertinent, well done. I haven't tried contrast paints yet but after this I feel much more confident to have a go. They're something like the Army Painter shading tones I think, in terms of putting it on generously. Again washing paints is a scary prospect for me but I'm more confident about it now. Finally I liked the additional two alternative chapter marines to show what's possible with this style. Bravo, I'm gonna search some more of your vids 👍☺

I'm only just getting into the painting side of the hobby. Having normally commissioned the painting of my stuff. Gotta say I love the tone of your video, its accessible, its informative your pace was great, but your very human with it too. Exactly what I was looking for and I'm reassured I'll be able to produce something I like, without taking 5 years of practise. Thanks!

@@NightsattheGameTable I'll be doing some dark Angel's first, to make a kill team, and then once I've had some practice I'll make a cautious start on some sisters of battle! What are you painting at the mo?

Thank you man, I was very helpful for me, just starting DA army. I will appreciate videos for deathwing, ravenwing and knights with the same techniques...

Thanks for this video, Sir! Really enjoyed your obvious passion for this awesome hobby! Happy to hear that you’ve been into WH40K for 30+ years! I agree that combining Contrast and traditional painting techniques can result in great results. Have you tried them with Tyranids?

Loved the edge highlight approach! Great over all. Makes me want to go invest in contrast.

Enjoy the contrast paints too. Good video, but note that even GW (warhammerTV) recommends that adding a little medium helps. I’ve found it gives best results

Looks great I love combining all the different techniques not to many other channels are showing that yet with the contrast paints. Question I was going to test a blood angel marine and I’m thinking of using a brown as my fist primer instead of black any thoughts ?

What did you use for the white undercoat?

A tip for those that don't want to deal with the nonsense of over painting and then reprimering the weapon. When you build the model place the weapon in his hands but don't glue it, then remove the weapon when you paint. If the weapon and arm are one, cut it apart. I do this and no problems for me.

Fantastic can you do a blood Angels 👼 video please
@atraxisdarkstar3 жыл бұрын
Whenever I try using the Dark Angels Green Contrast, and try putting on a thick coat like this, all the flat surfaces come out nearly black, and all the recesses stay a very faint green. It just looks awful, and the more videos I watch, the more confused I get.

I've painted two squads and a tank now, and they just all look terrible. You just absolutely can't brush it at all, I feel like it would work way better through an airbrush or like.. physically dipping your models in it. Brushing it just smears it around and gives you a wildly inconsistent layer. You literally just have to gob it on and hope it settles properly.

nice try, but this is not a dark angels. the side of the shoulder pads are green. the company marking is not like UM or other vanilla chapters. Nevertheless, the procedure is interesting and usefull.
