Hello again, Richard. Back in 2016 I visited Australia for the first time. Was staying with someone in Melbourne and we went down to Great Ocean Road and the 12 Apostles. We were only there for a few hours, so a bit rushed. That's the problem when you're traveling with a non-photographer. Good timing on this video as I've been thinking that it would be a fantastic area for Milky Way images. One of these years I'll get back there again and be able to spend some time doing just that. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks, Richard! Another fantastic video - AND your images are so incredible!! I went to the eastern shore of Lake Michigan (1100 mikes from my house!) and got some cool images of a lighthouse! As you experienced, the wind was blowing 40-50 MPH, It was cold, and misting rain! The waves were about 8' (2.44 meters) and they were crashing into the lighthouse! Made for some pretty dramatic images! I did learn from that trip, however -- when you go to these places with several family members in tow, I get pressured to hurry up - I left about an hour before sunset and as it happened the sunset was incredible and I think I would have caught a rainbow over the lighthouse!

Thanks a lot Adrian. Yes the wind was horrendous but I was happy in the end with the images. I sold an arm and a leg .. plus a heap of other camera gear to get the A7S3. Awesome! The time lapse looks great transitioning to moonlight. I shoot nightscape once with almost full moon in a rafting trip in the Colorado, not ideal but it was what it was during those days. Yes it's amazing how they advertise places that are many hours drive from Melbourne . .but it is a wonderful location for photography that's for sure.

Great video, stunning scenary and at times very amusing. I have often said, you amaze me at how you show aspects of Australia that don't seem to be the norm. You should get a kickback from the tourist office ! You could also get a job with the government and boost moral worldwide in difficult times, you are just so laid back. I was also surprised to see a shot with a Sony, I thought you only shot Nikon. I'd be interested in your views on the Z6ii, I would hazard a guess that you won't be upgrading ! For me there are a couple of interesting points but nothing that shouts, I really need it. On the other hand, if it had illuminated buttons, I would have thought differently.

Thanks very much for your encouraging words David, it means a lot. I don't think I'm the right age or demographic for the tourism people to take interest. I bought the Sony for my video production and just thought I'd give it a go with some images as well. I'll be doing a comparison to the Z6 in a little while. I'm still a Nikon man though for my images. I won't be upgrading to the Z6ii at this stage. I don't think the additions will make any difference to nightscape shooting.

Very nice pictures, as always. Finally you were lucky with the weather conditions. So you are using the Sony A7S3 with the Sony 20mm F/1.8! So do I and I love the lense very much! What's your thoughts on the Sony lense? I'd appreciate your feedback. Thanks and stay healthy!
@nightscapeimages.richard4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching. I love the Sony 20mm f1.8 lens. It's very small and light weight and extremely sharp. I'll be doing a bit of a comparison between that setup and my Nikon Z6 with the 20mm f1.8 soon.

Haha, Richard, looked like a typical Scottish or Irish west coast - enjoyed this vlog, and your 10,000 miles an hour windy jaunt down that awesome coast. Again, the results were amazing - no matter what is the location you choose, think the Milky Way reserved the right to get featured in every photo you take :D Brilliant work - thanks for this!

Great stuff Richard... I see you have a Sony A7siii now. Sweet. I've a good cabin & MW here near my home in Mammoth Lakes, CA USA last night. Hope it comes out good. As always, keep up the great work.

Really fantastic images Richard! Very inspiring! I wonder how you did the 18 shot pano at 24:00. Did you change exposures during the sky and foreground shots or made two different shots with different exposures for each position of the 18 images and combined them in the post processing?
@nightscapeimages.richard4 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for watching Gilson. I shot a 9 image pano for the sky (Top half) and a 9 image pano for the ground (Bottom half). Then processed each pano separately, then combine together in photoshop.
