This is so old school. Crazy Eddie's was so known in the 80's. The commercials were hilarious. Brings back good memories.

He chronicles a time between the rough days of NYC 1977-82 and the beginnings of serious gentrification.

such a blast from the past walking down New York City in the mid 1980s. Hairstyles, the lights. This New York City does not exist anymore. It's now been sanitized, corporate, ritzy. Old New York was raw, dirty, full of life and character. You could rent an upstairs loft for a few hundred a month and get a hotdog down the street for 50 cents. That's the New York City everyone misses.

And people in 30 years will say the same thing about NYC of today.

Well said Galileo. I lived a few blocks from that Crazy Eddies, and I was a stage manager at The Limelight. I've just discovered Nelson's videos. They are a treasure.

A trip back to a better time. I purchased so many LPs in thisCrazy Eddie on 6th Ave in 1984-1986. This took me back. I still have a good number of the LPs with the Crazy Eddie stickers, then it was on to THE WIZ, SAM GOODY and Tower Records in the Village. B.Balton. The Village was so much fun back then. Not like today the crowds are so different now.

Crazy Eddie had a serious financial fraud back before being listed and after being publically traded... good to see how its stores looked like! very special!

Wow, in addition to Crazy Eddie, you'll notice they also went to Nobody Beats The Wiz. For me as a kid in the 80's and as a lifelong lover of music, that was like being in a candy store. Man, do I miss that record store.

This video may come off at first as fairly trivial, but its a real GEM! Just the capturing of all the nuances of NYC night life back then. OF all the things that change, so so much stays the same as well.

Anyone have any idea what store is shown at 4:21? I can hardly read it, but it looks like "Moment Slim" or "Movement Slim". Is this some kind of weight watchers competitor? Can't find anything after searching.

I wonder what that Godzilla display was
@CW-le8wc2 жыл бұрын
Godzilla was extremely popular at the time. Kinda kitschy. I remember seeing Godzilla blowups or figures at random places in '86.
