If only all paramedics were as patient, kind, and empathetic as these ones. I’m mindblown honestly. Paramedics here in Toronto just rush you, talk over you, and look chronically-annoyed; no reassurance or compassion whatsoever. Like robots who just want to get “the job” over with. Pretty sad.

I live in Tulsa Oklahoma and I have had someone else get in the ambulance with me 3 different times. Twice it was the same guy who later became a friend I guess you could say. He sadly is an alcoholic and he will be the 1st to tell you that. And sometimes when he wouldn't have anything to eat I always kept sandwich stuff and fruit's and veggies and bottles of water and I told him to just let me know if he ever needed something to eat and he would come by and I would make him some sandwiches and fill up a bag full of stuff. My neighbors used to get upset with me over it but I was raised to help people in need without judging them. However he also tried to drive off with the ambulance with me and the emt's in the back. And he got arrested that time. And that was scary. He has moved since all of that happening but when he is on fb he will always say hi and he always thanks me for helping him when he lived here. And he always asks about my kids and grandkids too.

I was extremely concerned that the firefighters just left the girls with this guy trying to get into the ambulance. I think they should have at least stayed until they knew they were okay. Maybe they had a conversation off camera, but that was scary.

I'm going to be an EMT . and I can say right now if someone just walked into my truck like that I don't know how I would have reacted to that. THAT WAS COMPLETELY UNPREDICTED AND SCARY. Idk if you can physically do something but the way she looked like she was gonna be ready to swing if she needed to. I applaud that really she recognized he wasn't clear minded and took it into great consideration

EMT usually drives if the partner is a paramedic

On an ALS unit staffed with one EMT-Basic or Intermediate and one Paramedic, usually the EMT drives the truck while the Paramedic handles the dispatch computer and patient care. The EMT assists with patient care on scene of course but when it’s time to go they’re usually the ones driving.
