Nightwing is most definitely a better fighter than Harley, but Harley has one distinct advantage over him. He underestimates her. Neither Batman nor Nightwing ever take her seriously and it has caused them to be taken offguard by her several times. Harley is actually pretty clever and dangerous. If Nightwing had taken her seriously, he should have been able to win much more easily and without getting caught offguard.

I think her cleverness was one of the reasons Joker could pull her towards him. Intelligent and clever ppl can be really lonely and with a fam like hers its easy to manipulate her in that way. I think after she was done with Joker and in the Harley Comics she just supressed her better cognitive functions so she wouldnt have to feel anything. I've never watched this movie, but I REALLY like this scene. You can just FEEL every single hit. Between the sound design, the VFX, and the reactions of the characters, every blow feels like it packs a punch.

Really? All i thought the entire time is that apparantly no blow whatsoever has any force behind it and nothing in that alley has any weight to it. Afterall several of those blows should at the very least dizzy either one of them and some blows, especially the one where harley pulls down the ladder on nightwing with her entire weight behind it should at the very least break bones if not outright kill the other one. Yes yes yes, they are incredibly well trained but neither one of those two characters has any actual superpowers. And there IS a limit to how much trauma a human body no matter how well trained is able to withstand.

Underestimating someone only puts you at a disadvantage for a single good hit, you put your guard down and then one shot you. I'm guessing (outside of narrative contrivances) he was going easy on her. Realistically, a guy in as good a shape as Dick Grayson would've ended the fight as soon as he caught her in the solar plexus and followed up with the hit over the back. Since he was pulling his punches there and didn't follow through, it's safe to say he was underestimating her or holding back to avoid hurting her.

Well for an outsider, she's just a young little pretty woman and here, she lives in the slums of a city with a pretty high criminality rate, if she was careless, she wouldn't be alive to begin with ;). Frank Daniel Harley's strength is at peak human limitations thanks to poison Ivy's brew. Her strength tends to catch people off guard due to her appearance not looking the part. I believe it's comparable to a male mans peak strength. It's usually why in comics her strength is labeled as "abnormal" since she shouldn't be able to do that. Plus her natural agility and reflexes had been seriously enhanced. The new 52/rebirth hasn't really explained this yet ...just the immunity to toxins, gymnastics, and genius level intellect. I'm sure they are also going going by her previous incarnation ...so she probably still retains her abnormal strength level.

Guys chill out, Nightwing is my favorite DC hero, and even I can see this losing this fight for being arrogant. First off, he wasn't trying to knock her out, he needed to question her, second, Harley is actually a pretty competent fighter, thirdly, she has that unpredictability factor that crazy fighter's in both the Marvel and DC universe have, think Deadpool unpredictability but with a more crazy acrobatic chick, and lastly, the Joker venom is no..."joke"...although Grayson should always be packing an antidote when dealing with Joker or Harley.

the antivenom was standard issue in the tools belts during the Joker fights but Harley isnt Joker, and i am not 100% about the timeline here but it is implied that J is out of the picture in more than one way. So perhaps that made them put the Antivenom aside for other gizmos, it's not like they have a Bag of Holding in the belt xD Which makes it all the more sinister in a way.. NW is feeling like he's won the fight and then suddenly he starts laughing and laughing.. Harley is a smart fighter who does what she needs to in order to win, and a little keepsake like a needlering from the Jokers old toolkit is something i can really see her using.

I feel like the more versions of Harley we get, the stronger she gets. Now this is true for many charecters that get so many different versions of them, so that way writers can keep it interesting and new, but she is still crazy strong. The oldest version of Harley would have never been able to do this, heck old Harley almost always resorted to relying on smarts to take on people. Nowadays Harley, being pretty much without super powers, can take on most any foe. We see her compete easily with some of the strongest DC superheroes and villains. Love her!

I like the fact that Nightwing doesn't hesitate for a second to hit her and even kick her face, and while he doesn't take her seriously as a fighter, he doesn't care that his opponent is a woman. The modern day films that hammer feminism into audiences and constantly try to "develop" strong female characters don't really put them at risk or really fight others seriously so that they can actually be hurt. And seeing that Harley can only defeat him unfairly by poisoning him is by no means unsuitable for the character and actually also a smarter and more logical idea.

I think Harley victory here is pretty convincing, in the comics she has some level of enhanced physic, coupled together with her Olympic-level acrobatic and years as a villain she can throw down with some pretty major leagues. But the real "how" she won this fight was... wits, like many Nightwing underestimated her because Harley always had been in Joker shadow, as she didn't really have any ambitions as a villain besides been with Joker, so she used that fought only to distract and poison him and waited until it had its effect, it is pretty obvious she didn't win using brawn because Nightwing is stronger than her but she was smarter here. And remember this, Joker isn't exactly an example of fitness. Yeah, there are versions of him ( canon even ) that are muscular and good at fight but the true horror of Joker is his madness and unpredictability, and Harley is one of his creation so to say.

First of all he was toying with her the entire fight because hes NOT trying to take her to jail hes trying to push her back into the game. How are you watching a batman show and NOT thinking about the end game? The entire fight is a way to get her closer towards harlequinn instead of harleen. Furthermore Harlequinn is canonically about as smart as batman when she actually gets to think clearly without Joker distracting/abusing her. Unlike the Joker whos plans almost always fall through on several occasions Harley has caught batman and WOULD have beaten him if Joker hadnt stopped her. Nightwing tends to be arrogant and underestimate his opponents. But he was not going full out because he didnt want to hurt her he wants her cooperation.
