So far(after listening to the three singles they have released), it's more and more clear that they have committed a crime against Floor. Yes, crime. You can't have the best vocalist in the entire solar system and treat her like that, no. And it's not only the fact about the mixing, it's also that it's obvious (to me) that you fragment /barrier her instead of UNLEASHING her. I've heard ALL the videos (around 10 yet) where people improved the muddy original 'mix'. THIS is the best of all! 🤩 Floor's voice is where it belongs (in the front!) AND also the rest of the instruments have finally space to breathe. 😍 Don't listen to the weird people who prefer to listen to the bad original mix, only because it looks like Tuomas wanted to have it like this - which is even worse if this was his intention, tbh... 🤬

What a perfect mix. The difference to the original is very small but just what it needs. Too bad the guys mastering the album dropped the ball on vocals. Might be "an artistic decision", but when you have one of the best vocalists in the world singing masterful lyrics the people want to hear her. The original songs sound like they were mixed by a teenage band without the lead singer - everyone wants so badly hear their own instrument that they forget what sounds good for people listening the music. You can hear everything, but the dynamics are missing. Might also that the mixing was done with "too good" equipment that can define and separate better than anything that is used to listen the album. An elitist error.. OR - they should use more dynamic mix for the digital streaming and videos and save the original mix for the cd/lp. That would be understandable. I can see the original mix work perfectly as a movie soundtrack, but for music listening it lacks dynamics.

Acording to Troy, her voice is "just one more instrument" and "exactly where it should be" lol. Yes, people listen to nightwish because of the lovely clarinet work, Troy. The clarinet has to be at the same volume as the lead singer. Genius choice.

Well, this is what I do with this channel. Basically everyone does this by some extend by using subwoofers and EQs. If you don't like it, you can listen to the original. For me it's better this way.

Thanks. I don't think recording vocals at home could affect the mixing like this. There could be some weird reverb, noise from the lower quality cables etc, but I don't hear any. It is just their artistic choice to mix vocals quieter, which seems weird to me (and few others).

I don't think it's on purpose, but they might have too good audio equipment in the studio, and it doesn't sound as great for us regular joes and janes...or it might be very different with all those surround setups. Anyway, I did what I think is better, some like it and some not.

Please! So much faux outrage over the Nightwish mix! What if it's not even their mix that is messed up? What if it's KZbin's Over Compression of the music posted here. This has No More Floor than when I listen to Spotify on the highest bit rate. And whatever you think, get over it. If you can, vuu the CD or vinyl and get a better quality. If you can afford to do that. If not, ask a friend to burn a CD for you. I'm planning on buying it on Blu-ray Audio for the quality!

Why use an amazing singer when you mute her voice from the start, this proves the song is way better with clearer and louder sung lyrics. The most important instrument from the orchestra is the voice.

@@lmbergamini It's not about complex lyrics, it's about their delivery, I for one wish for more intricate and deeper lyrics, but one must know how to build a chorus, a chorus should be catchy, sing-along type of, but that's not always the case. I don't opt for complex lyrics just for the sake of it, it's all about how you deliver them both lyric-wise and instrumental-wise. Music nowadays suffers from over simplistic lyrics and predictable chorus professions. I don't listen to Nightwish anymore since Tarja's departure because when I listen to this band I always remember what Tarja said, she was the voice of it and that's it, so no deeper insight from the voice singing it and that bothers me because the music isn't true, isn't faithful. Sure, some tracks might have more adhesion to them, but in the end only those words remain. Some aren't bother by that and neither I am when the problem isn't discussed, but when it's raised up, one might not listen to the ones involved with the highest importance. This takes a lot from the songs, it's so hurtful, but these words and the venim are dried from so long ago, some might raise up these things, but it's of no value because they are dried as the venom itself.

Deliberately or not, this is what I do and what this channel is about. Artists should be able to handle feedback, and they really got pile of it when they released the first single. My version got 98% positive feedback. And how is it that Floor haven't actually hyped this album too much on social media? Maybe she is not happy that they buried her (probably not the case, but she might).

I don't understand why some people are taking this so personally, but I'll try to explain this one more time. If you are using anything else than the same studio monitors, and the same exact environment they used in the studio, you are not hearing the song just like the artist "meant" it. Those speakers have incredible ability to separate sounds from each other, and they probably even had some fancy surround system there, plus optimal room. And because they were already familiar with the vocals, their ears and brain work together to fill the "gaps". I'm not making this up. Also, people hear things very differently. Some like bass, some don't. Some can't stand high frequencies. Just like some like opera and some not. We are not the same! Even studio professionals are not the same. www.rtings.com/research/frequency-response-1-8 And because all the people and sound systems are different, you need to have ability to tweak the sound for your liking (and YT doesn't even allow you to tweak your EQ settings). When you buy speakers or headphones, you probably want to buy the ones sounds best for YOU, right? You don't think about the artistic choices there. You might even want to add a subwoofer, to have bassist and kick drum more prominent. I have never in my life heard that tweaking the sound for your liking is disrespectful towards the band. Never before this Yesterwynde. And never ever in my life I have heard that the excuse of having some instrument or vocals low in the mix, is just an artistic choice (which you are not allowed to correct). I love Nightwish, but it doesn't mean I need to agree with all the "artistic choices" they make. This is just a one version of this song, for the ones who want to hear Floor more clearly, and the rest of the army can go to listen to the original. And Still, Nightwish gets all the money from this one too.
