Awesome reaction. It was nice to see you do this song as it isn´t reacted to as often as some others. The Nightwish live at Wacken 2013 concert is the most incredible concert I have ever seen by any band and it´s not even close. Every song from start to finish leaves me speechless. When you eventually sit down and watch it in it´s entirety I think will see what I´m getting at. The band is on fire and always smiling, the vibe in the crowd, the recording and production and the most breathtaking performance by Floor. To think that none of these songs were originally written for her to sing but she managed to take each song to a new dimension and firmly cemented herself in the hearts of Nightwish fans across the world. Blows my mind :)

You may be wise in stepping clear of the meaning discussion, the only thing we all can agree on is that each song means different things to different people. I think this live version actually benefits from the loss of the starting and ending narrations in the music. It changes the mood of the song somewhat, but for me it is for the better. Every time I hear this, I go back in time and bless my inner child one more time.

No, not the opening song. You can see Floor rushing from the dressing room where she left her leather trousers for the skirt, to catch the mic just in time to start singning her part at the begining :-) They must have had hard time over there, because you can see the zip under her left arm isn't completely up (which will be fixed during Ghost Love Score atmospheric interlude) ;-)

It may be overlooked by a lot of reactors, but "Bless the Child" is one of my top NW favorites. Tuomas uses childhood/ boyhood and innocence just about interchangeably. Thoumas's "Meadows of Heaven" are where childhood innocence find their home. Childlike innocence is Tuomas's greatest wish, as stated in the even more criminally overlooked song, "The Crow, the Owl and the Dove". The "death" of the "boy"/child is a theme that reoccurs often in songs from the period.

The List is not definitive. Bless the Child is a great one to add to your reactions. Number 10 in the setlist, after Last of the Wilds and followed by Romanticide. Let's see what you think... BTW, you're one of the few reactors who CAN pronounce Tarja! There's lots of older Tarja-era stuff reinterpreted by Floor in the Decades Tour 2018 - Buenos Aires is the main concert DVD for that. Stargazers maybe? Gethsemane? And of course Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean is from that era.

Bless the Child is a great song that Tuomas and the band selected to be in that iconic concert, but it's not in the "to do list" every Nightwish reactor gets from someone else and find easy to follow. I am glad there are a few good reactors that follow their own ideas. Congratulations to you. Keep it up.

One of my favorites. It deserves more attention. I think it is about death. I don't think Tuomas is very religious, even though his father is a minister. Opening spoken words. They seem to reference birth, youthful precognition, and awakening to the reality of life. Quickly moving forward as life does, but yet appreciation for the journey. And while Floor has an amazing capacity to project emotion, she chose a heavier manner for this song (which we absolutely love!) But, this song, this song is something else when Tarja does it...
