MARKO has said that this is a "love song", a poetic metaphorical love song of a man (Devil) and woman (Mermaid of the Deep Dark Ocean- the Oceanborn) where she does not return his love or seductions. ""I will die for the love of the mermaid, Her seduction, beauty and scorn". In the end they break up "setting the dolphins free", their "song" is over but will carry on, "the eternity will begin once again in peace" they both move on. So GOOD to see your handsome face reacting to more NIGHTWISH and FLOOR!!! :D

I've been a fan of Floor since her After Forever and ReVamp days. I'm 100% convinced she can make any sound she can imagine.

Our beloved Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy has no equal. A professional vocal coach calls her a vocal sorceress. So true 😇😇😇😇 Hail Nightwish

This song is an absolute banger 🤘😎🤘. Kai's drumming on this is just crazy ( Kai Hahto "The Human Metronome", or in my book Kai "The Machine Gun" Hahto )!!! In one interview Tuomas/Marko said that Floor has a lungs of a dolphin (That long note is 💥)!!! And the crowd is going nuts in this 🤘. Nightwish lyrics are often a bit interpretive, and not as "straight forward" as many other bands, because Tuomas prefers people to put their own interpretations and life experiences into the lyrics. you connect with songs on a personal level when there is something there that relates to things you have gone/are going through, and you may even find new connections later on in life when you have gone through other big events/emotions. there might be songs you are quite indifferent about (oh, nice song) and then you go through something big and all of a sudden it makes you break down in tears because now you relate to something in the lyrics you didn't before, and see it from a whole new perspective. imagination and life experiences are powerful, and Tuomas has great appreciation of this. Been waiting for you to do this, but I did chuckle when you said it sounded relaxing... Love Kai's part in this. I regularly suggest this one, along with Dead Boy's Poem and Slaying the Dreamer from the same concert.

A conflict between the devil and a mermaid. Devil fails to seduce her and she escapes in the end. 👹🧜🏼♀️

Agree. It's just a story he made up that has vibes of being an old tale. But since it is not an old story, people get confused

All their songs are very different from each other, but incredibly good :-)

You're never really ready for it to end, right? Marko Hietala is Nightwish's best singer. Sometimes his harmonies with Floor are so tight you don't realize there's 2 voices.

Marko was singing the role of the Devil. You can't get darker than that?

Storyline sounds a lot like mythology from an ancient religion. I just think Tuomas likes mythology of ancient people and thought why not make a story like those in a song
