I LOVE the operatic ending. Wow! Just wow! It sends chills down my spine. So beautiful. As for the haters who think this album isn't metal enough for them....they should just go listen to the old albums then. Nightwish has moved on and is exploring other musical avenues...nobody is holding a gun to their head saying they have to listen to or like the new direction. I, for one, like it...I like it a lot! Tears of joy, tears of eternal love, tears of eternity as a whole...tears of today's life being totally turned around. All of these come together in (this) Nightwish song(s) and it touches our hearts, souls and all that is life. We feel it, we've beautifully been put out of balance and start or try to take these masterworks fit into our own lives and try to manage to make life a fraction better. My personal (and so serious here) feeling: NIghtwish 'had' to be here, now, with us...a guideline, a higher level of heavenly protection. Hope you can meet Floor one fine day, Sir ;-}

I didnt know of Eugene Shoemaker.... BUT as soon as i did some research as you did i noticed he touched my life. With the comet Shoemaker Levy 9 ! Which was named for him, his wife and David Levy. When it was first sighted, this comet was already ripped into 21 parts and caught by the gravity of Jupiter, making it cruise around Jupiter instead of the sun. And they calculated its future journey and noticed next time it comes back it will HIT Jupiter ! And i saw this pictures from Hubble telescope and Galileo (?) sonde and saw what an comet impact on a planet means, on Jupiter, the biggest thing beside the sun in our solar system ! Oli, Laudato Si refers also to Pope Francis' second encyclical in which he condemns consumerism, uncontrolled development, environmental degradation, like the album's themes. " “LAUDATO SI’, mi’ Signore” - “Praise be to you, my Lord”. In the words of this beautiful canticle, Saint Francis of Assisi reminds us that our common home is like a sister with whom we share our life and a beautiful mother who opens her arms to embrace us. “Praise be to you, my Lord, through our Sister, Mother Earth, who sustains and governs us, and who produces various fruit with coloured flowers and herbs”."

Great reaction, thank you. I love the direction the new album has taken and it shows the evolution of Nightwish in terms of the music and the subject material they reference in it. For some reason, many of the songs bring emotions out of me that I wouldn't expect. I cry every time I hear 'Shoemaker', 'How's the Heart' and the final movement of 'All the works...' Tuomas has a way of making me connect with the meaning of his songs and Floor's vocals just deliver that meaning perfectly. This song is so beautiful. I love everything about it, the rhythm, the music, the lyrics, the vocals, the video and its visuals, the poem, and boy the ending with Floor's majestic yet a bit vulnerable operatic vocals ... I totally understand why Floor said it was a hard one to sing too... The lines are fast paced, with little time to breathe, a lot of note changes with each vowel, etc... And yeah, the visuals... They go so well with the lyrics! Shoemaker, the founder of planetary science as we know it, one of the people that discovered the Shoemaker-Levy comet, that crater on the Moon named after him... You feel that with the visuals. Anyway, I'm glad you did this one! It's one of my favourites from the album, alongside Endlessness (a very close second), Tribal and Pan.

About the direction the NW is going. They (especially Tuomas) do not like to just replicate the well known recipes, nor to do music to be easily consumed as supermarket songs. They make something bigger. Some people do like, some other don't. Some people don't even see the big picture and still like songs, some sees the bigger picture but don't want to have it. We've got different flavors.

Pan is going to blow your socks off 😎 And after you do How’s the Heart, take a look at the acoustic version with Troy and Floor. Gorgeous. Given that NW is my absolute favorite band of all time, I’d be remiss if I didn’t throw out a recommendation for my second favorite band: Nothing More. I really think you’ll dig them. Very unique and versatile prog rock/metal with poetic lyrics and thought-provoking subject matter, full of depth and emotion. Start with This is the Time (Ballast), then try out Jenny (it’s about his sisters struggle with mental health and substance abuse while his mother was dying), God Went North, Fade In/Fade Out, and pretty much everything else they do is amazing. Even though they were nominated for a Grammy a year or so ago, they are still criminally underrated. Can’t wait to see what you think! Keep up the good work dude. Subbed!!

Those lyric music videos are really well-done. It must have taken some time to prepare them. Those drums are great and placed really nicely. That ending is lovely with those violins, I believe, and drums and voices of a choir and Floor holding that Siiiiiiii - that wovel is perfect for it because it allows for a lot of resonance and can be held for a long period of time. :-) I think Marco sings in it, but his voice may occupy some lower frequencies in those harmonies and that may be why we can hardly hear them in the mix. There are also more passages in which they sing more in a staccato style.

Funny thing is the old school Nightwish fans who dislike the way the band has continuously evolved miss the whole point. Tuomas, the CREATOR of Nightwish has said many, many times that he doesn't want to repeat anything; no two albums are the same, nor are any two songs really the same. The current style of the band "isn't metal enough" for these so called "fans". Nightwish isn't metal. It isn't folk. It isn't gothic. It isn't even symphonic. Nightwish was never meant to be classified into any genre.

Olly, I eally love your reactions. Straight from the heart. Moreover, you did do something in college? I wonder how many people knew that the quote was from Shakespeare, before they re told. Anyway, I viewed on the images of the rocket leaving the planet was a metaphor for human kind leaving in order to explore other pastures. Nightwish truly amazing!

Laudato SI means you or better Thy should be(HAvE TO BE) praised. Then second sentence as a shoutout, Ad Astra to the stars. So as a honor he was send to the stars. The pope wrote not long ago a piece with titel Laudato Si and this is about ecology.

Laudato Si refers to the 2nd encyclical of Pope Francis

I agree Olly. My fav band Sonata Arctica have evolved from being a power metal band to being multi genre. The "fans" whinge they're not Power Metal anymore and don't get that people evolve from their 20's to their 40's and honestly I prefer what Tony is doing now because we're a year apart in age so I get what he's composing and his concerns for the world as it is at the moment. Music evolves I do wish people would get that.

WOW, perfectly said my friend. I wish the same. Music evolves and Nightwish is always evolving.
