The long haired guy is Marko, the bassist. Empuu is the lead guitarist who was on the other side of the stage drinking a Corona while he wasn't needed ! He is the joker of the band and eight inches shorter than 6ft tall Floor Jansen ( 2 ins taller than Lucy Lawless who plays Xena). Floor is Dutch and the third singer who joined mid tour learning the set list in 48 hours travelling from The Netherlands to the USA. Every song written for previous two singers and she kills every one at this concert after ten months with the band.

Nightwish army, Colorado division reporting in. Thanks for the reaction. The guy with the white hair is Marko. He is the bassist, sometimes singer and is an icon of european metal. The guy walking in is Empuu. He is the guitarist. He was off to the side having a drink of his Corona. He put it back on the crate after toasting the camera, shredded the guitar part and then walked across the stage and shredded the next part, did his solo, and went back to playing his parts. Diving into this band is a rabbit hole that you will enjoy every step of. Every song is different, epic and amazing.

Nice you discovered Nightwish. Such a good band with the most versatile female singer in the world, Floor Jansen ( she is Dutch). There are a lot of good NW songs, but here a tip for you…Floor singing in her former band Revamp with the song Disdain ( live Graspop 2010). You will like it very much. And other female singers in the style of Floor?. Listen to Simone Simons of the band Epica or Dianne van Giersbergen ( old singer of the band Xandria). Nightwish Army US Division here, I`m sure you are going to love this band, although this is the go to performance of this song I like the Tampere concert more. You can see Floor`s stage presence is off the charts as she was with the band for over 2 years. Floor has a live concert in Amsterdam from 2022 I think. I`ve been listening to them for over 15 years and still obsessed with them. You have another 10 years of music to react to from this band, lol. I highly recommend Buenos Aires 2018. Tampere 2015, Wembley 2015. Hellfest 2022, Pinkpop 2022 and Deichbrand 2022. I have a book I got from Amazon that has all you need to explore this band. Nightwish, every album, every song by Simon McMurdo. Another Symphonic band I love is Within Temptation from Holland that I`ve been listening to for over 20 years with another awesome singer in Sharon del Adel.

As you delve deeper into their music (as I hope you will) you will find many diverse songs. Symphonic metal is the official genre, but you will find songs ranging from metal to ballads and even a jazz track. I have subscribed to your channel in the hope that you'll keep on watching and listening to Nightwish, especially their live recordings. I saw them live at Wembley in November 2022 and it was the most amazing unforgettable experience. I'm Dutch, just like Floor, and since a short time I've been following her. FYI: Look her up in 'Phantom of the opera', together with Henk Poort (Dutch opera singer). Note that at one point Henk approaches the raw vocal of a metal band singer. (The show it is from, is called 'Beste Zangers' (Best singers, need I say more?)) On 2024-12-27, on my little brother's 62nd birthday, I heard from him (who has a history of singing in operas, as a hobby (GOOG)) that Floor actually had a classic singing education. No wonder. Everyone references the Amy Lee thing. No worries. When you hear more from Floor and then listen to unedited live Evanescence performances you will hear the difference immediately. I love Amy's studio recordings. Especially the first record. A little Carol of the Bells vibe.

Amy Lee of Evanescence has a rock/pop voice. Floor Jansen has a rock/pop voice. And a metal voice. And an operatic voice. And a ballad voice. And a show voice. And a classical voice. And a harsh growly voice. And a dramatic voice. And an ethereal voice. And an angelic voice. You name it, she has it! For bands in this niche you could try "Epica" or "Visions Of Atlantis". BTW, there's only ONE guitarist. The other is the bassist. Nightwish are the worlds best band IMO. Suggestions? You can't go wrong with ANY Nightwish live song. There's a LOT to choose from online - with good reason! No two are alike....except they're ALL epic! You might want to try "7 days to the wolves" or "The Poet And The Pendulum" or "Shoemaker" or the 20+ minute epic "The Greatest Show On Earth". For a great guitar solo, try the second one in their old live tribute cover of Pink Floyd's "High Hopes".

All musicians are influenced by those who came before them or are next to them. You always hear something that others have used and they all follow the same rules of composition. It's like with Amy: it's similar, but not the same. The song is from 2003 and hasn't aged. But Tuomas changes his songs a little over time live and adapts them to modern possibilities. Here the change at the end is particularly drastic because Floor rewrote it. The original remains slow, Floor has added a dynamic. Basically, Floor has adapted the vocal line of the various songs to her voice and repeatedly sings differently than in the original. You can tell that she is an experienced songwriter and was in two bands before Nightwish. There won't be a live show in the near future. They just finished a tour and are now taking a break from Nightwish. They haven't announced how long it will last, I suspect until 2027. They are busy with side projects to get new ideas in their heads. Nightwish shouldn't always sound the same. Individual members are touring with the side projects. 2026 is the band's 30th anniversary and the label wants them to do something about it. The same people are on stage as in the previous song. But behind the stage there is a multi-instrumentalist who is sometimes also a second guitarist. Floor's stage costumes are unique pieces that are designed by designers based on her ideas. One of Tuomas' role models is the film composer Hans Zimmer. That can't be overlooked. But you will also notice a strong influence from Irish folk. During the interlude everyone disappeared from the stage. Only the backtracks of the orchestra and choir were playing. The band had nothing to do. The stage design hasn't changed much since then. It consists of a large display at the top and three other small ones below. The content is different for each song. There are pyrotechnics around the band. Nightwish is the most successful band outside Finland. In Finland, metal is part of pop culture and there are even more good bands.

Greetings from Arkansas USA. I'm 73, grew up on the great music of the 1960s, 70s and 80s. Had pretty much given up on finding or hearing new music I could relate. I found Nightwish 6 -7 years ago. I couldn't believe what I was hearing and seeing. This Wachen 2013 show is as good a concert I've ever seen. Others live shows you'll want to see are Wembley 2015, Tempere 2015 and Bueno Aris 2018. Nightwish reenergized my believe and interest in music. Nightwish will touch every emotion known to man and leave a bid smile on your face everytime. Nightwish is one of the few bands I've ever followed that is best live. Their studio recording are great but the energy from a live show is just W O W. Enjoy your trip down the Nightwish rabbit hole. - - - - Side bar. . . Their 1st female singer and co-founding member was Tarja Turunen. Tarja is a force onto her own. She was more operatic in those days. Check out her version of NEMO at the 2006 "End of an Are" . Whole your at that concert, check Marko (the bass player) sing the tribute to Pink Floyd song "High Hopes" - - - even David Gilmour said WOW when he heard it. It will leave your chin on your chest.

Funny that you made the Repo reference. Blind Meg was played by Sarah Brightman, who played the original Christine Daaé in Phantom of the Opera, which Nightwish originally covered with their first singer, Tarja, and later covered with Floor.

Towards the end you mentioned Floor using her voice as an instrument without using words. You should check out Sabaton’s Christmas Truce video where Floors sings (without words) over the ending credits. If you don’t know, Floor is married to Hannes Van Dahl, Sabaton’s drummer. Not only is the song incredible but the video is made as if a Hollywood movie company filmed and produced it. I think it’s absolutely incredible that Floor had only been with Nightwish for 10 months when this festival took place. On top of that, GLS was song #13 of 15 and she looks like she’s just starting and not winded or tired at all. When they called her to ask if she would be willing to sing for them they told her she had 48hrs to learn their music. You can find the story here on KZbin. Fascinating! The longer you listen to Nightwish you’ll hear little Easter eggs thrown in by Tuomas (composer and keyboardist). I’ve heard some Bach, Mozart, Metallica, and more within his music. It’s generally only a few bars but you can hear it if you listen closely. A complete 180 from GLS is Marko (bassist) singing The Islander live. Floor comes in at the end as a sort of backup singer. It’s a folksy sea chanty. One of my favorites!

Nothing wrong with comparing Floor with Amy Lee. Both female singers with good voices in metal bands. The people complaining about it can just shut up. Its a fair comparison even though Floor has a bigger range. But if you have seen Evanescence but never Nightwish it is normal to compare it and nothing wrong with it.

Amy Lee is the first singer many people think of, because Evanescence is so well-known in the USA, and the closest thing vocally. (Don't worry about the triggered fanboys - they complain about it over and over, without ever getting over it.) Personally, I think Ann Wilson would be the closest as far as vocal talent goes, but maybe that's me showing my age. 🙂 The European fan base will be more familiar with women who front metal bands (Simone Simons, Charlotte Wessels, Anneke van Giersbergen, Marcela Bovio, Alissa White-Gluz ... the list goes on, and eventually you'll find Floor performing with all of them.)

No need to apologize man for your comments, they're your opinions and reactions, unnecessarily saying that comparing them to evanescence is wrong, for me Nightwish are the GOATs but evanescence is for sure a more known/commercial band and Queen Floor has some resemblance to Amy, haven't ever seen them together or talking about each other but I don't think they mind at all to be compared, Floor is for sure the best if there is ever a remake of the Xena series, when you have time check Epica's Sancta Terra song that she collaborates with and you will see the princess warrior with her redhead friend lol😂, enjoy the ride that it gets better and better untill the end, keep rocking and stay safe!!
