You teach screaming and all that. But fun fact is that Floor also growls.. she sings high and low. growls. some operatic stuff. well she does what ever she wants really. Also fun fact to this. This is the very first tour Floor did with Nightwish, and the little thing about that is she joined the band and had 48 hours to learn the entire set before performing the first time. This is later in the tour, but its insane how it feels they been together forever already at this point. And a last edit. There is Nightwish, and then there is other bands. They just do something else. Toumas might be our time best composer. Nightwish is a journey, they take you along. show you things you havent felt before or forgotten. I failed.. one more.. that is what you do if you take the journey.. its emotions.. you smile. you are happy, but with a tear in the eye. things you dont understand, feelings you dont get. just so many emotions.. And that is what all there songs does.. its insane.

Hello Kardavox [Academy] ! Nightwish fans here, your reaction just appeared on our radar.. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing here at Wacken Open Air festival 2013, in front of a 82k+ audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra, London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. As I could see, you enjoyed the performance, and appreciate musicianship of all band members, but most of all - the stellar vocals and charisma of Floor Jansen, our Dutch metal queen. You obviously noticed her training, power and versatility.. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " Hope you'll continue this journey with us, so I'll drop here a list of songs with the current lineup of the band you may like (please consider this list of links only as "a tip of the iceberg", an indication that they have a vast and very diverse repertoire, and not as something mandatory): "Romanticide" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKvCaIJ5eLafjtU "Storytime" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqfOiqqFf7-ChLc "Ever Dream" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4nMZaFuma-WfJo "Song Of Myself" live at Wacken 2013 (dark/metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooLYZoSgnsl7jck "Dead Boy's Poem" - live Buenos Aires 2018 (soulful ballad) kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWmoZH9tnMx_g68 "Ghost River" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmbImqeaYqp0bKs "Dark Chest Of Wonders" live at Wacken 2013 (metal, the greatest show opener ever) kzbin.info/www/bejne/haeydWmumsijnpY "My Walden" live at Wembley 2015 (celtic / folk) kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZ_UlnxuZZyNors "Sleeping Sun" live at Tampere 2015 (ballad) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKTSpZ-wp56qhNk "The Islander" live at Tampere 2015 (Marco in charge..) kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKCbn5aBlJqesMU "Stargazer" live at Tampere 2015 (operatic vocals / metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJmopnSGjtKSi8k "Sahara" live at Tampa 2016 (middle eastern vibe) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooXZipmClpmKos0 "Slaying The Dreamer" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXKXZaeglrVopJI "I Want My Tears Back" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (celtic / folk vibe) kzbin.info/www/bejne/inOylZqun8djoa8 "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean" live In Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmOZo5Ksdr6EZrM "Weak Fantasy" live at Tampere 2015 (dark metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3-VZGyGl9aVoNE "7 Days To The Wolves" live at Wembley 2015 (dark metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqfWl6p3hceKjsU And if you want to hear Floor growling :) then try "Yours Is An Empty Hope" live at Mexico City in 2015 kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqbaimSaYrB8qdU Last but not the least - they just released their 9th studio album on April 10th 2020 named "Human :||: Nature" - just take a peek to their official playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PLihZ3gi5Yvzc0pfH2cbNKUUX8o3pb8eVg (for example: "Shoemaker", the 3rd track from this album, tells the story of Eugene Shoemaker, one of the founders of planetary science, whose ash was sent on the Moon after his death, as a tribute from the scientific community ..) You can also react to Floor Jansen "tapping" other musical genres in Beste Zangers 2019 (TV show from Netherlands) here is a playlist made by Floor herself (start listen it in reverse order..): kzbin.info/aero/PL8iSYWeQhlimgUnWw1FDdiJN0msPzqpLo To understand better the context of this show you should visit also Jenniezelf's YT channel (En subtitled materials): kzbin.info For entire episodes of the show with En translation, you should check Denise Hofs's DM channel: www.dailymotion.com/xpinkeu/videos In these pandemic times, Floor Jansen has decided to make covers for us, which you can find on her YT channel kzbin.info/door/xy4Ijz2QKXXJaREs-isxwA - there are already 4 covers there, the first is "Let It Go" from "Frozen" (8 weeks ago, already over 1.931M views), the second - "Alone" from "Heart" (released 6 weeks ago) - 767K and counting. Then 4 weeks ago she dropped the third cover, in Dutch: "Is Dit Nou Later" from Stef Bos - already 221K views in 4 weeks. Just before Christmas she made a powerful cover of "Ave Maria" - already 196K views. Just this friday she added a remastered / remixed version of the first one, "Let It Go" - already 77k.. Thank you! In fact Floor is not an opera singer, she studied classical only for one year and she left, because she is a metal head and didn't like so much opera. Of course she can sing opera style, as every other style. If you will continue the Nightwish journey you will find so much different styles from her, from opera to rock ballades, to metal growls and much more. Have fun. And you even not yet listen to the amazing Marco , the bass player with the long beard, he will be a great surprise.

Oh man, that was timely. I got here via Charismatic Voice (In the Air Tonight>Ghost of Perdition>Van Canto) and what a treat to hear you react to one of my favorite vocalists. Tarja was good at what she did, but she always brought an ice queen "Opera or Bust" sound. Annette was a lot more approachable, but lacked the polish. Then Floor? She brings so much more to the table. She's playful, she can bring the stank, she can soar. I just really love her. I don't know their discography as well as the fans here, but there's a tune where she sings with Marko that is just perfect. He brings the sass and she sasses right back. I love them together.
@franshinlopen21664 жыл бұрын
She is not really classicaly trained. In the Netherlands, you need to study at a "conservatorium" for classical. Floor studied at the (new) Rockacademie Tilburg. She was not satisfied with the vocal lessons there, so she found a private teacher who also taught at a conservatorium. After Rockacademie she had extra training in classical and musical theater. This makes her a singer with classical training, not a classically trained singer. Tarja Turunen is totally classicaly trained. She started at the Sibelius Academy in Finland. She soon transferred to the university of Karlsruhe (Germany) because her fellow pupils did not accept her because she was in a metal band. I have loved both of their voices for more than twenty years now.
@syntheticsleep3 жыл бұрын
One of the things that really shines through with Floor is that apparent lack of force or strain in anything she does. Even when she blasts through the stratosphere it's all grounded and comfortable like she's some kind of conduit for sound itself to flow through. That is a rare thing to witness in ANY genre or style. Mix that with complete goddess mode stage presence and it makes even less sense. She's definitely a force of nature. Great video sir!

Everything you look for in a singer Floor can deliver. Check out Romanticide or Song of my self. You find her growling and singing high notes. NW is exceptional. Floor has been a voiceteacher too. @jonaslindholm92404 жыл бұрын
Your description of a symphonic metal vocalist overly dominating songs was spot on, and I think one of the main reasons I didn't get hooked on Nightwish with Tarja. Floor just seems to put the music first, integrating fully with the story. And of course her versatility, check out Your's is an Empty Hope from Wembley for another dimension of that. It's all a joy to experience.
@ottonormal33544 жыл бұрын
Exactly was never a NW fan, Tarja and Anette allways pecked in my head. And i dont wanna say that they are bad or not good enough, but its a whole different dimension with Floor. She lets me feel the music, not her voice. Her voice comes as the cherry on top and makes it sweet.
@kenjinpiniteu4 жыл бұрын
Hard agree. The studio albums with Tarja were great because she was restraining herself or perhaps she was made to restrain. However, Century Child live performances and onward, she tends to overuse her vibrato even when not necessary, causing her to sometimes sound shrill above the song, late in her vocal cues and her dark vocal colour sometimes makes it jarring to listen to the live performances.

As some commented, Nightwish has a pretty wide range of styles of songs and since you mentioned you are more comfortable with metal techniques like screams and growls, you should probably check out some of the heavier/grittier songs Nightwish has on offer: Yours is an empty hope, Romanticide, Ghost river, Song of myself, to name just a few... Having had the great privilege to attend a Nightwish Concert literally the day before yesterday, in my lovely current home of Leipzig, I... There is something I wish to say. Firstly, this should not really surprise anyone at this point, but Floor is a goddess. There is no way around this fact. The way she sings, the way she conducts herself, the way she - in the truest sense of the word commands her voice is bone shatteringly amazing. It is nothing short of miraculous to behold live. Floorgasm - whilst being a funny term - does not do justice, this Concert was more like a religious experience. a revelation of sorts. Apart from this, the show was just great. Sometimes a bit too loud for my taste but that's more an issue of my ears and less of Nightwish. I've been a metalhead for quite some years now, and even though I'm a measly 20 years of age, I have attended quite some gigs in my life, ranging from german schlager (don't do that) to piano concerts to Rock to Metal to Pop. It's been quite a bit. This concert was, without even a shred of doubt in my mind, the single greatest concert I have ever attended, and probably the greatest experience of my life period. I said it elsewhere and I mean it quite seriously - I would crawl through shards of broken glass to get to attend another one of their shows.

Sorry, you shouldn't bring Dimash into this. She is a goddess, and amazing in every way, but he is THE vocal range god. 5.5 octaves, unlimited technical abilty, so just don't. It is disrespectful to Floor, who is amazing in her own right!
@Zenus_Thenus3 жыл бұрын
@@davidfleck2694 Disrespectful to floor???? I wouldnt say that. Floor has an unique, very technical and very versatile way to express herself and her style with a total control and lots of colours in her voice. Her own personal touch and nobody can take this away not even dimash. Dimash is just an alien, he is the best in the world in my opinion. Everybody has their own space It would be a pity not to enjoy him just for this. I am sure floor enjoys him a lot. He literaly gives me chills and i am a metalhead listening grindcore, brutaldeath black etc always agressive, violent and fast. Dimash is completely new journey for me.

Symphonic metal allows them to take there music in several different directions. They have the long, epic, grand full production style songs like this one, But they also have several of the more classic metal style songs as well.. and just about everything in between. They even have the songs with a touch on that Celtic Rock kind of vibe... But, no matter the basic style of song they will all have those key signature symphonic elements that gives the music it's rich, full sound.. Nightwish is really a live experience, which isn't a problem because there has to be about a hundred different Nightwish songs our there on KZbin in an Official live video format recorded from a show from somewhere in the world.. Take your choice, the Nightwish Army loves it all..

Hello Kardavox Academy ! Nightwish army here, your reaction just appeared on our radar.. She have a solid vocal training (including classical music and musical theater), 2 decades of singing in metal bands, being herself a vocal coach. So be prepared. lol " Hope you'll continue this journey with us, so I'll drop here a list of songs with the current lineup of the band you may like (please consider this list of links only as "a tip of the iceberg", an indication that they have a vast and very diverse repertoire, and not as something mandatory): "Romanticide" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKvCaIJ5eLafjtU "Storytime" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqfOiqqFf7-ChLc "Ever Dream" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4nMZaFuma-WfJo "Song Of Myself" live at Wacken 2013 (dark/metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooLYZoSgnsl7jck "Dead Boy's Poem" - live Buenos Aires 2018 (soulful ballad) kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWmoZH9tnMx_g68 "Ghost River" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmbImqeaYqp0bKs "Dark Chest Of Wonders" live at Wacken 2013 (metal, the greatest show opener ever) kzbin.info/www/bejne/haeydWmumsijnpY "My Walden" live at Wembley 2015 (celtic / folk) kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZ_UlnxuZZyNors "Sleeping Sun" live at Tampere 2015 (ballad) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKTSpZ-wp56qhNk "The Islander" live at Tampere 2015 (Marco in charge..) kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKCbn5aBlJqesMU "Stargazer" live at Tampere 2015 (operatic vocals / metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJmopnSGjtKSi8k "Sahara" live at Tampa 2016 (middle eastern vibe) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooXZipmClpmKos0 "Slaying The Dreamer" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXKXZaeglrVopJI "I Want My Tears Back" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (celtic / folk vibe) kzbin.info/www/bejne/inOylZqun8djoa8 "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean" live In Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmOZo5Ksdr6EZrM "Weak Fantasy" live at Tampere 2015 (dark metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3-VZGyGl9aVoNE "7 Days To The Wolves" live at Wembley 2015 (dark metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqfWl6p3hceKjsU And if you want to hear Floor growling :) then try "Yours Is An Empty Hope" live at Mexico City in 2015 kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqbaimSaYrB8qdU Last but not the least - they just released their 9th studio album on April 10th 2020 named "Human :||: Nature" - just take a peek to their official playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PLihZ3gi5Yvzc0pfH2cbNKUUX8o3pb8eVg (for example: "Shoemaker", the 3rd track from this album, tells the story of Eugene Shoemaker, one of the founders of planetary science, whose ash was sent on the Moon after his death, as a tribute from the scientific community ..)
