The guy on the keys is Tuomas Holopainen, the founder, mastermind, songwriter - he's been there since the start, in everything you've seen. Infact you've seen everyone on stage here - they've always had a female singer, she was off stage for a costume change . I find it hysterical that you think classically trained musical genius Tuomas is not too good, maybe out of time - I mean, wtf man . As a musician myself, for nearly forty years i can assure you he's not out of time 😂😂😂

This concert was the last with their first singer Tarja. After this concert the guys gave her a letter in which they explained why they couldn't work with her anymore. It had a lot to do with her husband who was also her manager. He caused a lot of problems because he wanted Nightwish to play at bigger venues and Tarja earning more money. But that was not an option at that time. The band also published the letter for anyone to read and that caused such turmoil and Tuomas, as the founder and leader of the band, took the brunt of all the critic. The result was a deep depression for Tuomas", who is great empath. Later he wrote a couple of songs about that period. The first was Master Passion Greed, to which you already reacted, and was directed at Tarja's husband. You can feel the anger in that song. The second was "The Poet and the Pendulum". It is a very emotional song in which expresses his feelings during his depression and in which he kills himself rather than doing it for real. His mother and father helped healing him.

THIS!!!!!! A link to it appeared on the official Pink Floyd website and Dave Gilmour was definitely impressed! The guy on the keys is Tuomas Holopainen - THE Metal Mozart - founder of Nightwish, writer, composer, arranger, conductor, musician, does not like his own singing but he can sing! the delay is intentional for an unsettling atmosphere! ..... Marko Hietala sings, can play lead, usually plays bass - "ancient Mariner?" - try his "The Islander" Live at Tampere!. Jukka Nevalainen on drums, same drummer as the Wacken gig. ...... and Emppu - THE Electric Hobbit, magic guitarist, prankster, Corona beer-drinker and black-belt in judo! Helsinki = probably 20K were there!

This reactor doesn't have a clue. Must be entirely ignorant of one of the most influential groups of all time. NOT from 2007 but 2005. NOT the closer. NOT a small crowd. The keyboard player who you think is new is the founder of Nightwish and the writer of virtually all Nightwish music, lyrics and orchestral arrangements. There are NO dropped notes in this track and any comparison to the Eagles is pathetic.

This was the final concert with their first singer. She was doing a wardrobe change, so they did this cover/tribute with Marco singing. The keyboardist is the genius behind the Nightwish music, he writes about 95% of their music. He has been in every one of their videos you have watched. He even does the orchestral scoring for the backing tracks.

The "guy on the keys" Is Tuomas Holopainen who started Nightwish, is the band leader and composer and arranger of over 90% of all the songs, lyrics and backing tracks has always been there right till the present. This is a Pink Floyd song, a tribute, but NW songs in any case are all different and cover most moods. The female singer of the time was Tarja Turunnen, their first of three female vocalists, who was taking a break mid-concert while they did this song. Here's another mood, more recent: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKCbn5aBlJqesMU Their studio and live sounds are not much different in most cases. They go a little wilder live on occasion, but the live sound of the band is as good as the studio sound, which certainly isn't true of a lot of bands.

This is a tribute to Pink Floyd written by David Gilmour and his wife. I grew up listening to Pink Floyd and one on my favorite songs by them. Not many people can play guitar like David but Emmpu is magnificent !! Tuomas is not late on keyboards, I recommend listening to the Pink Floyd song and you will hear what I mean. Richard Wright RIP was the Floyd keyboard player.

There are tiny slips during this performance. This was made in 2005 and it was performed in the ice hockey ring in Helsinki. It was a sold out 10 000+ people concert, which was ending their tour. This last concert was the bad evening for the Nightwish, because they were about to fire their first singer, because she was made difficult demands, acting like a separate member of the band, didn’t show up on rehersals etc. It wasn’t easy decision for to anyone of the guys. Drummer were sick, having a high fever, and there is a rumor about he was having a migraine as well. Still, he fought through this 2 hour concert with honor. Anyway, this concert was still amazing, and they performed it very professionally, to give the audience their best they could.

This 'keyboard guy' might go far in his career I reckon :) Just a heads up, the keyboard guy (Tuomas Holopainen) is the founder of Nightwish and is the reason why the band exists. He writes 90% of the music and lyrics. I would feel comfortable saying that if he was playing a note a little late - it was most likely an artistic choice. Also, Nightwish have always had a female lead singer. This song was sung by Marko while she (Tarja) was changing her outfit for the next song. This was her final concert with Nightwish. The energy and mood of this song required a more subdued feeling. No need for a lot of stage movement. For your own benefit, I recommend that you keep exploring Nightwish, especially with their 3rd and current singer - Floor Jansen. They are a magical band like no other.

A tribute to (not a cover of) Pink Floyd's song from The Division Bell album. For many years the performance was linked on Pink Floyd's official website as a great performance and it had Golmour's personal endorsement. For me, this version has more energy and emotion than the original. Emppu does a superb job and Marco's vocals are astounding. A factoid or two... In the Houses of Parliament in London, when a vote is taken, it is called "a division". Members are sent to the Division Lobby where they separate into Ayes and Nays To let everyone know that a vote has been called a bell rings in all bars and rooms throughout the premises - this is the Division Bell. Now, many MPs frequent hostelries outside the Palace of Westminster, particularly at lunch or if the House is sitting late into the night. Therefore many local hostelries have a feed of the Division Bell I to their premises so that MPs who are off the premises can get back to vote Just south of the Thames and east of Westminster Bridge is a small market street called The Cut. Several restaurants in The Cut are frequented by MPs at lunch and although I have not seen it happen (I no longer work round there) I am sure some have a feed of the Division Bell You hear "The Cut" mentioned in the lyrics of this song. A little further along the river there is Newington Causeway ("The Causeway"). Not so far from here is "Long Lane" sometimes known as Long Road but that connection is distinctly tenuous in my mind as it is straying too far from Parliament. On yhe other hand Floyd said it was inspired by Cambridge but, living near Cambridge I cant see any of the connections. No, Nightwish dont play notes late. And the version I have is 720p.

These four members are all the same as the Wacken 2013 show you’ve watched. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, is the heart and soul of Nightwish. He composes the vast majority of the musical composition and writes the lyrics. (Though not these as this was a tribute to Pink Floyd, written by David Gilmour). He wasn’t late on the notes, he played them as David Gilmour wrote and played it. The only constant besides Tuomas in the Nightwish lineup, is Emppu Vuorinen, the guitar player. Tarja Turinen was the original lead singer, and with them at this time, but not in on this song.

It's difficult to keep the rythm when the audience is clapping off beat. And it's a Pink Floyd cover/tribute, not their own song. Marko, who sings this had his own band before Nightwish, Tarot. And he's one of the most talented musicians in the world, imo. One of Marko's newest songs, Impatient Zero is something I could recommend.

The first of their female singers used to change attires (Tarja was no Floor) during the concerts, so the guys played covers of famous songs (like this one of Pink Floyd) three of the four are the founders of the band, Marko, the basist, joined them several years later. As to the looks - this Nightwish - Sleepwalker Live In Eurovision (2000) Remastered is an old song from Eurovision. Basist is different, the background singer appeared on the stage seldom, but keybordist, drummer and guitarist are the original.

Tarja was changing costume, so the band would often fill the moment with a cover. As pointed out, this is quite a well known late Pink Floyd song from the album, The Division Bell. It is an homage and reinvention of the track. Everyone on stage here was on stage at the 2013 Wacken concert that you've reacted to. The Keyboard player is Tuomas Holopainen, who started the band and is the main writer and de facto band leader. Incidentally, I've seen better quality versions of this, but maybe it's just your system and that opacity fade you put on the video.

Back in these days Marco had some issues with his voice and he went to a repairing his voice. He had some modules in his throat or something and those required surgery. Now I can't remember if there was some kind of errors in the procedure and Marco had to learn to sing so that he could continue singing. It wasn't easy but Marco learned to sing much more efficient and he did learn to sing better and after that he learned the new way of singing.

Hi from New Zealand :) If Tuomas is a' little bit late' with his notes, then he's done it for a reason. Tuomas is a musical genius, so there's always a purpose as to why he does things in a particular way. You have to remember that this is an interpretation, and a tribute, but not their composition, so you can't really compare this one to their own :)

No offense to Empuu (guitarist) but the original guitarist is David Gilmour from Pink Floyd. Regarded as one of the best guitar solos ever is from Gilmour playing the 2nd solo in Comfortably Numb. Gilmour also sings this song; not just plays the guitar. PF wasn’t huge on running around stage either; they didn’t have to as their stage setup was absolutely out of this world. Their last tour, Pulse, was so big that they had 3 sets of trucks with equipment. They had to leapfrog from city to city as setting up the stage took 2 days. Floyd more or less stayed put on stage just like Nightwish did with the cover. Also, what you heard as late notes was intentional. Watch the PF High Hopes video for comparison.

Hi There, thanks for the reaction. For something off the album they released this year called Yesterwynde, I can recommend the song "An Ocean of Strange Islands (Official Lyric Video)". There is no love of this yet, but when they do it... I'll be there :) At the end of the track, you may well ask, what is that instrument? So, to answer that in advance, it's the Uilleann pipes, and it's played by a member of the current line-up, called Troy. He's a fellow Brit. Kind Regards from the UK.

If you're not familiar with Pink Floyds original version of "High Hopes" , check Pink Floyds legendary "Pulse Concert" - - . Check out NEMO from this same concert to get a look at the original female singer Tarja Turunen. She and the band absolutely nail it. It blows my mind, how did Nightwish wind up with 3 world class female singers back to back to back. Tuomas on keys, Emmpu on guitar and Tarja are original members of Nightwish. Nightwish latest album came out in September of this year, it's called "Yesterwynde". There are several videos out from songs on the album. Start at the top with "Ocean of Strange Islands" and work your way down. To me, Nightwish has been best live. Yesterwynde is full of incredible songs and videos. Tuomas out did himself on this one. The dude still has alot left in his bag of genius.
