During the Lockdown situation, Nightwish released several videos, which they had not previously released in DVD format. Leftover material. Then they made this video for the fans, where NW collected photos from the archives. The video is very funny and the first time I watched it I also paused it several times to look at the photos. Nightwish and nature / life have a special relationship. For their latest album (released in April 2020), Nightwish was allowed to shoot promo images at the Natural History Museum in London. They were given 4 hours to be “alone” throughout the museum taking pictures. No other band has ever received a similar permission. But also the other way around, according to Nightwish, various things have been named as well. That 2015 album of them made a deep impression on many scientists. And this has led to the following: I will quote a few points from Wikipedia here: 1. "A new insect species, Sciophilia holopaineni, discovered by a Finnish biologist named Jukka Salmela of Metsähallitus Parks & Wildlife, has been named after Tuomas Holopainen, because of Holopainen's love for nature." (2017) 2. "In 2018, a new species of beetle was discovered by scientist Andreas Weigel. It was named after Jansen, dubbing it Tmesisternus floorjansenae." 3. "On July 10, 2020, a new crab species, the Tanidromites nightwishorum which was discovered by curator of palaentology, Dr Adiel A. Klompmaker of the Alabama Museum of Natural History, was named in honor of the band in particular for their 2015 album, Endless Forms Most Beautiful." 4. On August 12, 2020, a prehistoric rockshelter, called the Alpenglow Rockshelter that was discovered in Pennsylvania, USA was, too, named for Nightwish, particularly in honor of their ninth track, Alpenglow, from their 2015 album. And one more later... 5. A tribute from a Dutch tulip producer, an almost black tulip called Nightwish. Quite an achievement for one band!

This song was written by Gary Moore, a phenomenal guitarist/artist. Another version of this song, worth looking at, was done by Tommy Johansson (the guitarist for Sabaton, who plays with Floor's husband, Jannes, in that band)...that kid has an *incredible* voice, and.plays a mean guitar!! To piggyback on what RonniePeterson said Marko and his unique vocal skill set will be missed. On the up side Troy (now the primary male vocals) brings a new skill set for the band to explore. As we all know Toumas is an amazing composer. However he choose the incorporate Troy's vocals into the music it will be amazing. Something lost something gained. As I understand Marko's departure may not be permanent but I could be wrong about that.

The Greatest Show on Earth , please do the Tampere version its outside with more piro and in there home country of Finland. ALSO the documentary "Learn the Set list in 48hrs" is how Floor came to be with Nightwish its around 3 hrs long maybe do it in 3 or 4 parts

Troy was initially a sessions musician for Nightwish (from around 2007/2008 ish), but became the official 6th member of the band in 2013. He was announced at the same time as Floor. He is from the county of Cumbria in northern England

Cover of a Gary Moore song. Released in 2001 on an EP , the last thing recorded with Sami Vanska on bass. Sami left and Marko joined not long after. There is a video on KZbin of a solo Tarja show where she does this song as a duet with Floor. Troy started playing with Nightwish in 2007.He was made permanent in 2013 ,along with Floor. He doesn't play on every song. His role has expanded since Marko left, taking over some of the male vocal parts.

This video has so many ancient jewels I've never seen before! I knew they had a silly side in between all their baddassery, and these pics are the perfect example, I love their light, happy vibe here, especially how much Tuomas smiles, being such a serious man on the daily basis (at least to the public\media) seeing smiling, having fun with his buddies is awesome, and also how Floor fitted right out the bat with them, she there where she belongs, with her brothers in metal, despite the fact that today, the band changed members, but I hope the energy stays the same: fun, heavy yet light, and at 100%

Great reaction guys. Gary Moore did the original way back in 1986 from the album Wild Frontier. Gary's live versions of this song were incredible, as he plays the violin parts on the guitar, but a great cover by Nightwish

"Over the Hills and Far Away" is a traditional British song, dating back to at least the late 17th century. This modern version was from Gary and I love it too!

It really gives some insight from the band 👍 I really fell in love with the band when I watched them. You dont really have to study it beforehand, sometimes that takes away from just enjoying the song in the moment .....you can always do that afterwards or read the hundreds of comments explaining it.

Most people think "Over The Hills And Far Away" is a Nightwish song, some think it's a Led Zeppelin song, but it's actually written by Gary Moore :-) And Nightwish does it really well, as always :-)

we all do remember and miss Marko's presence, but, one must respect the mans decisions, a 20 year run with that band, in the end he was fed up with the industry, the money side,, This band, this group of people "band"ed together, endure change and find their unique "voices" to tell their stories for our enjoyment. Visiting to Romania? or "moving" back? never have to apologize for "talking", thats why we're here,, no disaster on THIS channel..Kai, / Jukka Nevalainen had horrible insomnia for a long time and finally stopped playing in 2014,, his friend , Kai then took over the drums. {its a longer story, that the short version}

In the pre-Floor days Troy was a part time player, as special instrumentalist. in 2013 he became permanent member of the band along with Floor. He was doing 3rd vocals behind Marco, now he's trying to pickup the backing vocals, however, there are some songs only Marco could do.

Sorry guys but if you see live shows with Tarja or Anette the band never seem to be having as much fun as with Floor. Troy guested on earlier Nightwish albums and appeared live on some songs on the Imaginaerum tour. He joined Nightwish full time at the same time as Floor in October 2013. This is by far the best version of this song unless you listen to the much earlier version by the late Gary Moore.

As always loved your reaction! I like to add some background info. At 12.56, moving a fridge haha, is taken at Röskö, Finland, where they rehearse their albums. You could perhaps react to the 21- short episodes ( each about 6-7 min) docu "Making of a new Album #8" (Endless Forms Most Beautiful) which gives a very good, interesting and funny insight on how and where they rehearse. It would be fun to watch this docu with you. If you do 2 or 3 each time it won't take a long time to go through it. And you'll learn a lot haha!! At 16.39...Tuomas and Richard Dawkins, author of the book "The Greatest Show on Earth", based on the evolution theory of Charles Darwin. Tuomas was totally absorbed by this book and made, imho, his masterpiece, also called "The Greatest Show on Earth", a 21 min. song. It is the last song of the above mentiond album. There are 2 versions of it. Live at Wembley Arena 2015 with Richard Dawkins at the end and the Tampere 2015 version (outdoor venue) with some great surprises. I personally like the Tampere version best. At 16.41 The grave of the American poet Walt Whitman. He is famous for his poem "Song of Myself" which inspired Tuomas to write "Song of Myself" and tried to write the lyrics in the same style as Whitman did. Personally this is one of my favorites.

I completely agree, for me also Nightwish is with Floor and Marco. Everything before and after is ok, but just not good enough for me. Troy is a 100% full time member of Nightwish. That became official just before Endless Forms Most Beautiful started recording (along with Floor). in the Olderstuff he was used in a limited capacity but because of his talent )he cal look at an instrument he has never seem before and he is able to play) he is being utalized more and more. I saw them live this last May and he was on stage the whole time. Not that Marco is gone, he is also taking over much of Marcos vocals, but Floor is also taking on them as well.

Of course Marko is a big loss. You have to be absolutely insane if you think otherwise. Born performer, incredible singer and so much charisma. Before Tuomas asked Marko to join the band 2001, he thought already then that Marko is the best metal singer in Finland (there are lot metal bands in Finland). Marko gave 20 years for this band and sacrificed a lot. Lets appreciate what he did. Jukka is very good. In my mind the best bass player for this band would be Lauri Porra, but unfortunately he isn't available because Stratovarius is still active. Tuomas, Emppu, Troy and Lauri in the same band would be absolutely crazy.

Every Nightwish fan misses Marko. Even if nothing has been lost in quality. It's just beautiful in a different way. But I also want Marko back. But as someone puts Floor above Tarja and Anette, by far, this song belongs to Tarja. You should hear this song sung live by Tarja again. Troy is of course a Band member and now that Marko is gone is always on stage.

The greatest show on earth is one that is appropriate to do some research. Its about evolution. When you do that song, watch the version in Tampere, however you need to watch the outro from Wembley after the end of the Tampere version. TRUST ME! I would do a few more shorter songs first, before GSOE.

Troy has been in the band since I think 2007. He's not in every song because the instruments he plays aren't used in every song. Do your home work before watching the greatest show, dead boys poem, and the poet and the pendulum.the songs will mean so much more because you'll understand what's going on. If you do shoemaker please do the music lyric video and not the live version, I'm like you I love NW live and most of my play list is live, but shoemaker is beautiful and sounds much better on the video, perhaps if Marko was still with them I would have liked the live version more, I'm struggling to get used to him not being there. But an interview about a week ago he said he was well happy and going to be a father again. All the best Marko. While I can understand that people enjoy the overall Floor Jansen "Frontwoman package" more than the Tarja package, it always blows my mind that people think she is the better singer or an exceptional singer at all!
