Floor is more than a singer. She's a storyteller, an entertainer, an enchantress, the perfect frontwoman. Her charisma, energy and stage presence are insane. And she's always smiling and having the time of her life, even in concerts where she was sick. Nightwish got the Golden Ticket when they asked her to join the band.

The beautiful thing with Floor is that she uses her hands, body and face and eyes with the lyrics in the song, you see that in many songs, Alpenglow, Vilja Lied, the music really goes through her body. And Nightwish music is theatrical so this is I think the best match in Nightwish today. Elan is one of my favorite songs, Tuomas just does so beautiful melodies out of a simple things.

The bag pipe instrument Troy plays is called the “uilleann pipes”. Translated means “pipe of the elbow”. As you can see he doesn’t blow into it but rather forces air through it using his elbow. He’s really the secret weapon of the band. Just about plays every kind of instrument.

At last, someone who noticed how Floor uses her hands. She does it in every song. Small details but they show her interpretation. BTW, you two are quite mad! The bagpipe is the Irish bagpipe, called Uilleann Pipes (elbow pipes) because inflated by pumping with the elbow. Nightwish has been therapy for many of us. Sone of us have had quite severe clinical depression and have been helped through it by the magic of Nightwish - several others have said so in comments. Elan is a great song too and interesting to hear it without Marco's wonderful vocal harmonies. Troy does a good job but he doesn't have the colour or power of Marco. I miss Marco. Troy played as a guest for years before finally becoming permanent. Costumes by the same people who did the Buenos Aires concert outfit - Royal Black Couture in Austria, plus another designer I can't recall. I suspect post Freja, Floor grew in some places... I don't think the BA outfit would fit now lol 😆

(But Nightwish themselves said thank you to the crowd that it felt like they were the headliners!) Yes, this is a streamed recording and not post-edited (And for that, the sound and picture is incredible!). But hell Hellfest, what a show! 🤟🏼 You guys get a little goofy sometimes…. And it’s great! You guys are awesome, and we enjoy watching you. I’m glad it is bringing you joy. You desrve it. Troy is filling in on backup vocals but not anything that Marko took lead on. Floor is taking some of Marko’s parts on some songs. Those are Uillean pipes, Irish bagpipes, aka elbow pipes. Bellows are inflated and compressed under the arms. Those two songs were great. Oh, and it’s always okay to tear up after any Nightwish song. Next two please!

It was Epuuu's birthday that week and the night before they had a small party, so he arrived too late at the sondcecken by the morning (11.30 ) inside (''information') and a few hours later they had to play 'think he still had after-effects from the alcohol and in full sun he also had some practical problems keeping the guitar in the right tone. 'as Wolfman knows 'that if you play in the sun and you are the only guitar player that all the accords are supported on you quickly lose the pure tone due to the sun 32 gr.and I think even higher because they were covered with the sun right in front of them, an electric guitar string weakens by half an octave. Wolfman, you should know that more precisely. but when i play in the sun i have to adjust both acostise guitar and electric guitar every 2 songs. you have special devices for it. but it has to be done otherwise if you play on autopilot you think you're wrong you've often seen retreating into the shadows. except for the indomitable Floor Janssen who, due to weather and wind illness, 'just continues to sing wonderfully. in America tour she had a fever and sore throat 'about two months ago 'sang at half power and sang even better than 90% of today's mainstream music 'that corrects everything with a machine pc. but Floor is original and pure sounds I've ever heard. In an interview she said this year and also earlier that when they asked her with whom she would like to do a duet or from the former artists and before the question was completely answered,.but ite wase ofcurse Freddy Mecrury ❤❤🤘🤘❤❤💯

Your dynamics throughout the video seem to me like an old and well adjusted pair, I love it. Can't lie, in every reaction I look at SueSue's face, because there's so much more there than Wolfman's expression of some anticipation (sorry, no slight intended). Don't get me wrong, when Mr. Wolfman opens his mouth, he has something substantive to say. Reactions are partly here to enjoy the music together, and with people with an emotional connection, like we the viewers often feel. The other part is by professional singers or instrument players who provide a through analysis of a song.

Hi Wolfman, I think the mix of the registration of this Nightwish concert is superb, and that makes it easier to hear the various instruments. In some songs, the orchestra and choir are also much easier to hear than in other registrations such as Wacken or Buenos Aires. That adds a lot to enjoying the set and get the occasional tear in the eye.

So sorry to hear about you're health issues as well as all of the loses you have both experienced over the last few years. I hope you have you're health issues under control for the time being. Wolfman, you will probably understand this next comment regarding some musical details of the bag pipes. The biggest differences between a standard Scottish bagpipe (standup) and the Uilleann pipe (Irish & seated) one that Troy plays are detailed below. The Scottish bagpipe was used historically as an instrument of war. Kind of like other cultures used a trumpet or horn of some type to send signals to their troops. This is why they tend to be very loud and shrill sounding to be able to carry over long distances. According to historical data, Scottish bagpipes were developed in the mountainous western highlands and the Scottish Highlands around the 15th century. The instrument has a high-pitched chant on which a low fixed scale of nine notes can be played and three large drones, all of which are attached to the bag held under the arm containing the air that is blown by the mouth through the blowpipe. The drones so attached are tuned to B-flat and play a sole bass and treble tone. The scale of the Scottish bagpipe runs from A to A, but is also inclusive of one note below the scale which is usually a G or a 7th. Traditionally, the instrument was used to play lengthier musical pieces. The drone is used primarily to allow the Scottish bagpipe to perform solo or with multiple bagpipes all tuned the same. The bag on this style of bagpipe is primarily used to create the drone note, while the blowing action allows for the melody to be created in concert with the fingering on the chanter. Also referred to as Irish Uilleann Pipes, the Irish Bagpipes are the most elaborate in the world. Instead of being blown by the mouth, the instrument is inflated by bellows. Most bagpipes can only play one chromatic octave but the Irish bagpipe can play more than two chromatic octaves. It is a relatively quiet instrument being equipped with the loudness of only two fiddles. The Irish Bagpipe comprises of three drones. Perhaps the most noteworthy characteristic of the instrument is its three or more oboes, shaped in the form of one octave, four to five harmony pipes with keys that are operated by the wrist which allows for several chords to be played in accompaniment. The bagpiper’s seated with one leg lowered to play the instrument. To sum it up, the major differences between Scottish and Irish bagpipes are as below: #1. Irish bagpipes can play with vowels while Scottish bagpipes are more congruent with consonant percussive sound. #2. Scottish bagpipes are most commonly played in groups while Irish bagpipes are played solo. #3. While Scottish bagpipes can only play one note and one octave, Irish pipes can play more than one type of scale.

The Instrument you refer to is called the Uilleann Pipes or simply the Irish Bagpipes.

If you want to see some of Kai's drumming, his tech filmed some of the Pinkpop set from behind Kai, Kai posted it up on his Facebook. There are other drumcam footage and here is one of him playing a Wintersun track: Sons of Winter and Stars kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpPFaaBprLOLmNU Edit to add, Kai is left handed, plays right handed lead and can swap back and forth from left and right leading.

Troy is playing the Uilleann pipes. They are Irish, also called elbow pipes. The right arm pumps the air into the bellows(I think) and the left arm forces the air to make the sound. In Elan, I have looked and during the chorus I swear I hear Marko. Not seeing Troy sing. Maybe they are using a backtrack?

Deleted my message....💫 In retrospect, it was not the right time to write this down. Won't do it again🙏 But the music🎶 does influence me and I like to listen to it. Luckily we have the same taste, what music means 🦋 So that's fine. Thank you for bringing Music what I love 💕 Wish you both the very best!!! Sorry for my bad English 🥰 Kisses from me 🤍🙌😘

Whatever’s family name you choose should probably include “pack”, as wolves and dogs families are packs.

Just got done watching the final Nightwish song The Greatest Show on Earth. I implore you to *NOT* watch it until you’ve seen either the Tampere (my favorite) or Wembley version. I strongly suspect Nightwish had to cut into it to make their set time… the first 5 minutes (and 4 seconds) was cut out. The last 4 minutes was also cut (and replaced with a short Ad Astra outro). The best Tampere version - hi def, complete, with lyrics - is kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJ2ZnYicfrKefa8 . Watch to the _very_ end.

I hate that so much of it had to be cut out Rob! We have reacted to that song but i will have to check out homepage playlist to see where it was - Wembley or Tampere? - thx, Suesue

@@SueSueandthewolfman Okay - I checked your playlist (I’d been doing searches on y’all and didn’t see it). Turns out I _had_ seen your reaction… and it _also_ cut out the last 4 minutes 😣 A very impactful 4 minutes at that. (Edit - looks like it cut off the end of my reply 😂) Given you’ve seen most of the Tampere version (minus the ending w/ *impactful* spoken text and beautiful fireworks - see link above), perhaps the Wembley version would be a good choice. Troy plays the bass w/ ebow rather than flute, and Richard Dawkins speaks at the end… kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6OwqKubZ96Ua6c

Yes you're right, also, I can hear the bass better in the end part of GLS, better or not, not relevant ... they're both very good, but different ...!!!!

Following up your discussion of Kai's drumkit there is a nice video which breaks down the Nightwish gear and instruments at kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJXLhJ6cl62LgMU Not to sideline the Wolfman but surely we are the Suesue crew?!
