Every frickin' song of that Wacken 2013 concert, all 15 of them, is a gem. It's one of those rare & legendary concerts. If you like harder and heaver, try the opening song: "Dark chest of wonders" Just use the official live videos of Nightwish whenever possible, as there are some slowed down versions floating in KZbin space.

Basically, every song they do here at Wacken 2013 is killer.. This is their Imaginaerum album world tour.. Songs on the Imaginaerum album have a touch of fantasy/mystical vibe.. Wembley Arena is a different album tour, little more power metal sound. It's all unique, but still anchored with that full sound of the symphonic elements.

They are a Finnish band but Floor is Dutch. Song of myself live at Wacken 2013 is my fav song along with Storytime from that same show. The Viking bass player is Marko. The keyboardist is Tuomas (like Two omas, you pronounce the u). He writes and composes most of the music. They are a fantastic band.

Great work guys! Emppu's guitar is Esp EV1. It's his own signature model (EV being his initials). Comes with pretty hot SD pickups. Nowadays he uses the EV2. Say you're doing Yours in an empty hope next? Lovely... You asked about our favourite NW song... Mine's The Poet and The Pendulum. But IMO you probably should wait a bit to do that. As everyone said, the pipes around the keyboards are just for show. Tuomas uses 3 keyboards on stage (2 stacked on each other, one tilted to his left). When you get to other shows, you'll see that the aesthetics around the keyboards change. Emppu is a featured guitarist for ESP guitars. He has two custom models with them: EV-1 and EV-2. He was playing EV-1 here. If want to see them live, you better hurry and grab tickets. They are only playing 3 (maybe. 4) cities on their next North American tour, but are playing 2 nights for each show. 2 nights in Los Angeles, 2 nights in NYC, and 2 nights in Toronto. Those shows were to start this month, but were rescheduled. Finally, next song: head straight to Yours is an Empty Hope. Use the video for Vehicle of Spirit. That's the one from Wembley Arena. After that, Song of Myself at Wacken, then Devil & the Deep Dark Ocean, from Bruno's Aires. That will get you ready to go deep down the rabbit hole.

If you love Pink Floyd like I do, check out Nightwish's cover song High Hopes. Maybe play the original first then the cover to compare. Nightwish's is better IMO and I never thought I would ever say that about a Pink Floyd song. I am 68 and I grew up with classic rock and I feel Nightwish has it ALL! Always fun seeing people react to Nightwish for the first time. One suggestion I have for your video thought is to make your images much smaller, perhaps half the size used in this video. You were blocking Floor and the focal point of the camera for most of the song. Perhaps having your images large larger before the video, during pauses for comment, and after the video is over. You guys have a lot of musical knowledge. I'd love to have you share more of that knowledge after each reaction. I love hearing what the "experts" think of Nightwish.

If you have it over a perfect fit for the band. At this stage she was 10 months with tha band (and none of the songs were written with her voice in mind) and if you didn't knew better it looked like there has nevee been a Nightwish without Floor. It keeps amazing me how well she fits into the band. Just unbelievable. For a further recommendation: Shudder Before the Beautiful (official live). There show opener for their Wembley Arena concert (2015).

My favourite song of Nighrwish is the Poet and the Pendulum. But you guys are definitely not ready for it. You first need to know a great deal more of this amazing band (the keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen is the founder and main composer of Nightwish, which was formed in 1996). Just get some amazing songs under your belt and a more understanding of the band in general, before you do a reaction to the Poet and the Pendulum. And before you do I advise you to be aware of what the song is about. But that song (also from their Wembley arena concert in 2015) has everything in it. It's epic and emotional at the same time, one of the best songs composed ever.

Just a little background information, prior to Floor Jansen Nightwish had two other female lead singers. Tarja Turunen (1997-2005) and Anette Olzon (2007-2012). Floor Jansen started singing in the band After Forever in 1997 (age 16) until 2009 when the band disbanded. In 2010 she started the band Revamp, which was disbanded in 2016. Mostly because of her obligations to Nightwish.

In 2019 Floor Jansen became widely known to the mainstream public in the Netherlands due to her participation at the Beste Zangers show. Before that hardly anyone knew her, because metal music is only to be considered a niche market in the Netherlands and does hardly get any airplay or coverage.

Now what do you think about the live performances? There is so much more energy when they play these songs live. Nightwish is labeled a symphonic metal band, but the American concept of metal is very different. Nightwish does some tradition (with a twist) metal with lots of aggression such as this song. However, they focus more on interesting and complex song structure, and lyrics (very poetic), as well as beautiful vocal melodies. It think 2 of my favorites are the opener and closer from this Wacken 2013 show.
