As you may have noticed, "Romanticide" describes a relationship that goes wrong, with lies, betraying trust, and destroying dreams and hopes invested over the years. Is this just going to get better? Pretty much. One of the best things about Nightwish songs is they're all different. There's no formula. When Tuomas feels a song, he writes it until it's done no matter what length it ends up. There are surprises galore, which make every performance so interesting. Also, you can see how much each band member is enjoying performing. Enjoy the journey!

Floor is a full-package singer, from opera to gritty metal. A 6'1" warrior-princess. Total goddess. This entire concert is a masterpiece. The performance, stage show, editing, sound mix -- boss level!

Eider is a seabird. It exists here in the Nordics, but I don't know if it exists in the rest of the world. 🙂

Romanticide, what a song!! And what a show! Yes, that is Floor singing. If you need tips how to identify the singers, here are few :) Floor kinda does everything vocally, but her sound is more rockier than the others. She is also really tall. Anette is the middle singer. She has more poppier sound. I think most of the videos she is in, she has blond hair (so if the singer is blond in some video, it's Anette. She did have black hair at one point though) Tarja is the most operatic sounding in Nightwish (you heard her in the Phantom of the Opera video). At first people mix up her and Floor... but Tarja is also a lot smaller than Floor. And timewise: Everything around 2013 (also the end of 2012) and after that is Floor. Everything from 2007 till the end of 2012 is Anette. And Everything from the start (1997) till 2005 is Tarja. And of course there is Marko (also, the former basist).... but I think you can identify him I hope that helped a bit :)

There were oil spills from tankers that polluted coasts and covered vast amounts of sea birds in oil. Maybe 'Eider covered in oil' is an analogy for being toxically dumped on in a relationship and losing the ability to fly free i'm in the UK and we get Eider here and it's also the bird they use feathers from to stuff expensive pillows or duvets with Great reactions

Eider is the seabird, famous for eider down used in warm eider down duvets. And yes romance suicide = romanticide. And the 3 octave glissando - is a glissando 😅

That sound is called a glissando and Marco does it too. He has an amazing range actually but still not like Floors 3 octaves. Still he manages the timing such that they end pretty much together. Its a pretty incredible bit of musicianship when you look st it Also like that you point out some of the actions and expressions that add to Nightwish performances and that so many people miss.

First: IF, and I mean IF you read your comments, you know it is Floor Jansen ! ! ! And again: Floor has 3 distinct styles. Head banging(straight forward, then back), hair whip(almost like cracking a bull whip) and the Windmill(continuous 360 degree revolutions). Why Windmill? Well she is Dutch. Now the song: This song is Like a Coffee with Red Bull .... On Steroids 🤘❤‍🔥🤘. The “scream” at the end is called a glissando, going from low to high and back, for classically trained singers this is an exercise to warm up the vocal cords, so Floor will do this probably every day before breakfast . NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.

Eider is indeed a duck, over here in the uk we used to get eider downs which was a bedspread made with eider feathers luckily we can get other fillings for quilts as I hate to think of all the poor plucked ducks. Good reaction to this fantastic band 🇬🇧 Marko and Floor singing together brilliant.

As many have said, an eider is a duck. One interpretation would be that if you cover it in oil it can't fly and therefor becomes a "sitting duck", an easy target.

I'd like to suggest a song from Tarja (who you saw singing Phantom of the Opera) - she recently released a follow up album to one she did a couple of years ago both consisting of dark christmas songs, so I think it'd be super cool if you threw in some of those for December? You should check out "TARJA 'Frosty The Snowman' - Official Video - New Album 'Dark Christmas' Out Now" Also, another band that has a similar vibe and style to Nightwish is Within Temptation - NW and WT are basically the most wellknown bands in the symphonic metal genre, and actually Tarja did a duet with Within Temptation some years back, called Paradise, which I'm sure you'd love as well! But would love to see your reaction to one of WT's most recent songs called Bleed Out, which has an AI created music video which is just insanely cool! "Within Temptation - Bleed Out (official music video)" Also, if you get the chance to see Nightwish live, definitely go! It is such an experience!

It always keeps surprising me how an Finnish songwriter manages to write lyrics in English, that a native speaker can't understand. It's not like eider is something mysterious. Sure, there's no need to know every word in your language... This just keeps surprising me time and time again.
