Them being symphonic metal allows them to take their music in any direction they want. They have the longer, epic, grand style of songs, but they also have several of the more classic metal style songs... as well as just about everything in between. They even have songs with a bit of that Celtic rock kind of vibe. But, no matter the basic style of song Tuomas (keyboard player) is going for they will all have those signature symphonic elements that makes the music sound so rich and full. Welcome.

I can only imagine (can i, really?) what it felt for Jukka suffering from imsonia and delivering such a performance. If it was like this, what would it be like without the health issues? And the sound of those drums? Just heavenly, to my ears. I've read in a lot of comments people saying they're not into drums, but cannot avoid being drawn into the beat. Really contagious.

This is our Valkyrie Goddess for you. And you witnessed first hand a "Dutch Windmill" , and to finish you off, The Operatic "Cruise Missile" !!!! Floor has 3 distinct styles. Head banging(straight forward, then back), hair whip(almost like cracking a bull whip) and the Windmill(continuous 360 degree revolutions). Why Windmill? Well she is Dutch. Awesome tune , although it is kind of a popish sound (originally sung by Anette, the second singer of Nightwish), but Floor gave it soooo much POWER !!! Including this "Operatic" part, what was originally done by children's choir because vocal limitations on their second singer (Great singer also, I might add), but Floor has none of that "Limit". Nightwish lyrics are often a bit interpretive, and not as "straight forward" as many other bands, because Tuomas ( The Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen: founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish.) prefers people to put their own interpretations and life experiences into the lyrics. you connect with songs on a personal level when there is something there that relates to things you have gone/are going through, and you may even find new connections later on in life when you have gone through other big events/emotions. there might be songs you are quite indifferent about (oh, nice song) and then you go through something big and all of a sudden it makes you break down in tears because now you relate to something in the lyrics you didn't before, and see it from a whole new perspective. imagination and life experiences are powerful, and Tuomas has great appreciation of this. NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.

New Fan of yours, I am also a huge Nightwish fan... I hope you continue to check out them out. I would like to suggest checking out "Romanticide" and "Song of Myself" both from the Same Show (Waken 2013) and I think you would get a kick out of Yours Is An Empty Hope performed on the Nightwish cruise in 2015. There are so, so many amazing performances of their. One of the best live bands ever in my opinion.

The “operatic” part was on the original song (with singer Anette) performed by a choir… Floor: “Hold my beer”😅 (for the army an old joke, giving reactions like “or my whiskey, or my sigar ” as Floor liked both whiskey and a sigar now and then in that time)

As Danny Elfman is arguably more well known to the general populace for his movie compositions than his work with Oingo Boingo it is fitting you hear him in this, as cinematic is maybe the most used term to describe Tuomas's songs.

Hello again Jonathon. Nightwish Army Phoenix subscriber here for you. This was a really fun reaction to this outstanding performance. Tuomas, the keyboardist and composer, is so brilliant with his lyrics. Simply terrific by Floor and the whole band. Jukka, on drums, looks like he is trying to destroy his kit. Unfortunately, not long after this concert, Jukka had to resign from drumming because of his terrible insomnia. He continues to be with Nightwish in a managerial role. And he recommended that Kai Hahto, from Wintersun, replace him. Kai continues to handle the drumming wonderfully to this very day. Thank you for this.

Wow, I had no idea the drummer went through all of that. His performance was absolutely fantastic, and it's hard to imagine pulling off a performance like that while struggling with hard-core insomnia. What a beast! I'm glad he was able to step into a role that kept him with the band, but that allowed him the space he needed to focus on getting healthy. Thank you for that interesting piece of info!
