I'd rather see your reaction, joy and happiness then you talk and miss something important, cause so much is happening here! My fav part of the song is toolmaker, so when the human era beginns. It is depressing thought that the 1st part of the song was so peaceful and since the moment that humans era came, all the fire and distruction happens. the progression is so well shown though! I love i! And the moment with all those music easter eggs with Bach, Metallica and Enter Sandman etc. We were here moment is always emotional for me, and then Dawkins' words - so impactful... I can't tell you how many times I have watched their live performance of this song and i am always crying at the end. Especially in this version, where Prof. Dawkins is there in person, speaking tothe crowd, and seeing their faces and understanding of his words and the whole song...

I've known Nightwish for at least twenty years and being an old thrash metal drummer since the 80's, many times I was never interested in listening to this wonderful band. A few days ago I decided it was time to hear something from the band, in my mind there was always that "operatic" voice of Tarja that bothered me. I had known Floor since the days of After Forever and his band didn't attract my attention either. I chose to listen to "Ghost Love Score" and since then I can't contain my emotion... I dove headfirst into the world of Nightwish and when I arrived at "The Greatest Show on Earth", my reaction was the same as yours, I was in disbelief, and when Richard Dawkins himself came on stage, I collapsed for good! Oh God, why did it take me so long...

Great reaction! In your journey to date, I believe this is your first time meeting Troy. He's a very gifted and versatile musician, and it was his electric guitar in the opening (not Emppu), played with a gadget called an e-bow. In that section, he was mimicking a wonderful cello part that is on the album and in other live performances of this song. I love how the switched it up here. You also saw him play his pipes a little later in the opening. There are several moments in this composition that always choke me up, starting with Floor's whispering of 'Us sleeping' and then the orchestral build in the final bow. It's simply an amazing composition, perfectly played by all. Thanks for the heartfelt reaction. On to #9!

I love the version on the Tampere concert, but because of Richard Dawkins this version touches me a lot - love his books - and I think i will get me soon an E-bow. And I do not think that was the big bang - 4,6 billion years ago asteroids slammed into the new formed earth.

WE WERE HERE!! Surprisingly, Tuomas said he wrote this song rather quickly, in a matter of a couple of days, but it took a solid 2 and half weeks to mix. It was originally over 30 minutes. The modern age of man section included excerpts from Dies Irae, Minuet in G major by Christian Petzold, Toccata and Fugue in D minor by Johann Sebastian Bach and Enter Sandman by Metallica, the last of which you may have caught. This is definitely the most ambitious project Nightwish has ever done. Check out the Tampere version as well, some differences in their homeland and outdoors. There is still much, much Nightwish greatness to discover. P.S. congrats on making it on to Alex Terrible’s channel for most intense reactions to Doom 👍🏻

While both Wembley and Tampere are great have to admit I always feel a little disappointed when it is Wembley. Glad you watched both. For me the fireworks, Troy's low whistle instead of the e-bow, Floor walking out on stage into the crowd, her outfit, it is just so much more epic. Kind of like Ghost Love Score at Wacken vs Buenos Aries in 2012. Love both but prefer the more epic performance. I know people say that the audio is better at Wembley but they are so close I have never noticed it. I do think the spoken word section in the outro at Tampere is higher in the mix and easier to hear and understand. Dawkins walking out on stage does nothing for me. Just my opinion and to each, their own.

The song is divided into 5 segments. The first is labeled 4.6, as in 4.6 billion years, which is the age of the Earth and the solar system. The Big Bang was 14 billion years ago, so the the beginning of the song is more like the early bombardment of Earth by comets, meteors, asteroids ,etc. Yes, that riff that you gave a double take to was Metallica's Enter Sandman. It was preceded by other pieces of music including one by J.S. Bach, and then followed by a piece of EDM. The Evolution of music. Research isn't necessary to enjoy this song, but doing so makes the song more interesting. Nice Job. 🤘🤘

It's an epic song to make about big bang and planet forming. Life in planet and in end man is dead and Enter Ratkind. So this world will end in my opinion too. For humans that is.

Great reaksie...!

Hey Marben, Do you have "Master Passion Greed" on your list? If not, you may want to add it. A heavy banger with Marko @ vocals. This is what Nightwish sounds like when they're angry.

The spoken bit at the end, delivered by Dawkins, is actually the words of Charles Darwin - the closing lines of "On the Origin of Species".
