If you didn't recognize yet, Nightwish just released their 10th album Yesterwynde which is quite a hell of an album. The last track on it made it on my all time best songs and definitely song of the year: Laternlight kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6HOdnitftitrK8

The Islander is one of my favs. Marko's vocals really shine through. His double neck guitar is one beautiful piece of equipment and he knows what to do with it.

Cool Reaction 🤘😎🤘 This is such a beautiful song written by bassist Marko and keyboardist & band leader Tuomas. It was part of the band's 2007 album, Dark Passion Play. Annette was the lead singer on this album. 5 years later, Tuomas invited Floor to take over lead vocals, as Annette was too pregnant to finish the tour.

Marco has performed this song many times, he's not nervous. It's also his song, backed by NW. His jokes are for his fellow Finnish people in the crowd. Plus, this is a relatively small crowd. NW has played festivals of over 80,000.
@onsesejoo2605Ай бұрын
The studioversion is a rarity in a sense that it features Tuomas on backing vocals. After NW's first album he swore not to ever sing on NW songs. Anette Olzon was the main lead singer at the time, singing backing vocals as well on the track. The video features then guest musician Troy Donockley as the younger main character before he became band member.

Nightwish have been going since '96, the male vocalist here is Marko Hietala, their first female vocalist was Tarja Turunen, who was replaced in 2007 for a few years by Anette Olzon, in 2012 she was replaced by their current lead vocalist Floor Jansen. Another band who are similar and I highly recommend is, 'Lacuna Coil' I suggest that you start with their live version of "Swamped" at the 119 show in London 2018, it was a great recording so the sound quality is very good.

@@Adam_Le-Roi_Davis. I certainly will. A mate is coming with me, again who doesn't know the band until now. The last metal gig I saw was Sabbath's final tour. I would take my daughter but she's at uni and I am not sure my wife would be that keen - even though she has seen Rammstein a couple of times with me (including heavily pregnant - the first gig our daughter attended!). Many thanks again for the recommendation- this is what I like about this channel to get suggestions about bands who I don't know or have forgotten about! And, I can't wait for the Haniers to react to all the suggestions. From what I have listened to and viewed on KZbin, Christina has got to be one of the best rock singers around.

It definitely sounds like a sea shanty. Most sea shanty music is Celtic. The low whistle is a type of flute. whistles are blown straight into, traditional flutes are blown in the side.

I like the melodies and they both can really sing. It sounds very traditional English folk sounding to me. Nice guitaring but the lyrics are bit sub-O level Tolkeinesque.

What fresh hell is this ? In my head I’m mentally smashing furniture over Gandalfs head there for being utterly pish and yours C n C for being so laissez faire with my mental health forcing me to listen ..wtf ? I don’t know where they’re from and I don’t care , the flute was the final straw for me .. I could walk into any bowling club in Scotland on a Sunday evening and see a better “ turn “ AND I get a free game of Bingo if I stumped up for the raffle to help with their club funds . There’s a reason you haven’t heard them for a while btw .. ffs 🤦♂️. Thank you for an active terrible listening experience , it’s been a while since I’ve hated something so bad that you’ve played .. 🤬 👍🏴

As they come from somewhere north of the Artic Circle they will probably be going into hibernation about now. Or else they'll be frightening children in Santa's grotto over the festive period. Either way, they shouldn't be bothering you for a while.

I've given Nightwish plenty of chances to impress me me in the past, and they've failed every time. It always sounds like music from some kind of fantasy RPG or Wagnerian schlock, and this is no different. It's better than usual because the awful wailing Valkyrie is largely absent from this one. In fact, I quite liked the solo part of the performance, although part of the melody borrows from another song which distracted me until I could think what it was.
