Exactly! Her voice was one of the important elements for the Nightwish sound. She gaved Nightwish a dark&mystic vibe. Something like when you hear Tarja voice then first thing that comes in your mind is Nightwish simply because her voice is so distinctive and original. Tarja for Nightwish is the same as Ozzy for Black Sabbath, Rob Halford for Judas Priest, Ian Gillan for Deep Purple, David Coverdale for Whitesnake, Biff Byford for Saxon etc.

Floor is average and the very reason why this is true is because her vocals are almost as if she is whispering or are very faint and there is a reason for that , she couldn't shadow Tarja in a million years! I'm in now way saying she is horrible but she could never bring to the table what Tarja has. Maybe Thomas shouldn't have shit where he ate and catched feelings for her and because she didn't want him , she was gone. Nobody will ever even come close to Tarja ever in a million lifetimes! I relive Night Wish and only listen to their music with Tarja in it purposefully because I can't stomach any of the other female singers they've had. Sorry not sorry!

I miss the feeling of the band on stage, with Anette it was fun to watch and with Floor I feel like headbanging but with Tarja I just feel like watching and enjoying them. She is not making full heavy symphonic metal, but is still good music with lyrical voice :3 She is on symphonic hard rock (if that is a think, well I just consider her work heavier than rock but not as heavy as metal, so is it hard rock ? ) She has awesome songs "In for a Kill" "Anteroom of death" "Demons in me" "Victim of ritual" and good ballads as well "into the sun" "The reign" "The living End" "Diva" (you have to read it's lyrics and tell me who do you think is dedicated to) "Medusa" "Damned and Divine" "Sing for me" "Oasis" "Lucid Dreamer" =)

I know I'm a late reply, but I think you might want to try Septic Flesh :) Well, if symphonic death metal is a thing to wish to try, that is. Although Septic Flesh are special in that regard, because they are not conventional. All their songs sound dark but combine both melancholic beginnings with more "optimist" bodies. Try listen to their song "Dark River". You may hear some similarity to 1:09 of this Nightwish song :)
