I believe she is dealing with a legit injury tbh. Imo it sounds like she might have been hospitalized for her mental health (it doesn't necessarily mean she tried to end herself or self harmed because you can voluntarily admit yourself but either way she is hurting whether its mentally, physically or both) because supervision would then make sense in terms of hosptial staff watching to make sure she won't injure herself while in hosptial and sometimes access to phone is restricted if its a source of stress/trigger (or sometimes your in a toxic mental ward with staff that won't let you access your personal belongings) or part of a safety plan (for example: when I am manic as part of a safety plan my phone is monitored/restricted so I don't do dumb shit on social media or go on dating apps lmao). She also posted that she is staying with her parents to recover which can be common when out of the hosptial as part of a discharge plan can be staying with people you find safe as your mental health recovers. And its about the normal 3 days or so after admission when your accessed. She may have even gotten her phone back after the psych said it was chill but stayed for longer for further supervision. So I believe she was in hosptial but the term of an 'accident' was vague for a reason because if she said she was hospitalized for her mental health then Niji would get flamed even more. because its kind of obvious WHY she would be in that dire mental state. Either way I hope she has a smooth recovery and to prioritize herself going forward

I can vouch for some of the comments talking about the weird wording, i’ve had a couple of family members that have been hospitalized for “accidents”, the most damning detail is the fact that she was given permission to have her phone again, wording like that is used when you’re trying to keep something away that caused the “accident”. With this and Mika’s farewell post on Twitter, my ability to give the benefit of the doubt to any color is reaching its limit, i can’t in my right mind look at stuff like this and think any colors not responsible for it, i am sick and tired of pretending that nothing is happening in that company. Something is fundamentally wrong there. If it’s not fixed soon, i hesitate to imagine what will happen.

There is definitely a culture of abuse within Nijisanji's management. Privating Selen's cover for literally no reason purely out of spite, and then potentially shadow suspending her is textbook abuse behavior. It's gotten to the point where Nijisanji should be sued for workplace abuse.

I could see the hospitalisation being due to the cover being removed, but niji suspending selen and calling it hospitalisation wouldn't hide the cover removal, it just puts it into starker contrast. It would make people think the exact same thing as you, making niji look even worse after a bad decision. Maybe it is niji screwing themselves over, but I highly doubt they would make 2 blunders of this scale within 2 days of each other. Niji could have just not said anything for a while, which would draw less suspicion than this option. Selen isn't immune to unforeseen accidents, they can happen to her too and the Christmas break has far more accidents than any other time of year. As a technoblade fan, I know very well that influencers are just as susceptible to life as everyone else. I hope she gets better soon. Now, I'm not much of a Nijisanji fan, but I do like some of the Niji EN VTubers, like Selen, Pomu, Rosemi, Scarle, Luca, and some others. And what management and Niji EN did to Selen, 1, $15,000 is not in any way cheap! 2, it would not surprise me if Selen would leave Niji after this, and I wouldn't blame her. She, the animators, the music director that put so much in the MV should sue Niji for that. And plus, Selen got permission to sing the song! After all, if you don't know where _NOT_ to cut/how deep is too deep you could potentially seriously hurt yourself without even meaning to by accidentally hitting an artery or cutting too deep even if you weren't intending to end it. Even more worrying, hospitals use the wording observation and supervision for different scenarios. Observation for medical observation with monitors, supervision when they can't be alone by themselves. A psych ward will absolutely keep your stuff and they will be supervising you. IF she was sent to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit), that means she was injured enough to not be able to take care of herself. She may have been sedated or unable to move (Due to the injuries or multiple tubes: IV's, Feeding Tube, Breathing Tube, Cardiograph wires, blood oxygen checker, drain tubes are all possible). This would have made her either to be unable to handle the phone or too groggy/in pain to do so on her own. This could have been a car accident, falling down and conked her head, twisted her spine, or had an internal injury. These are all possible and more likely than a mental issue with Selen. She seems to me to be a bit smarter and savvy enough to not be the type to try something stupid. She's loyal and proud enough to stick out her contract if she's upset about it and smart enough to know she's got options if she decided she needs a change and that it's in her best interest to wait out the contract. As for the AnyColor/Nijisanji issue, someone screwing up getting the approval list signed off properly is a common thing in mid-large organizations. The person who's signature was needed may have been away and an unauthorized subordinate signed off. And as is common, the Authorized person was pissed and they put a TEMPORARY hold on the song. Or, what is more likely, because she had authorization from the copyright holder in an Email, she assumed she didn't need Nijisanji's legal/copyright department's approval. This would be wrong on her part. They still need to sign off on it. They would send their own request for authorization to the copyright holder and gotten an Official letter (with pretty letterhead and signatures) saying she could use it. She probably just got an email saying ok and sometimes that does not cut it. So next time any of you cut out the legal department, make sure they send you your permissions on authorized letterhead. It'll save you a lot of grief later on. Also, remember, Christmas is a western holiday. Niji is a Japanese company. Christmas there is nothing more than a fancy version of Valentines day. They are not going to think anything weird about treating that day as a normal business day. But all that matters now is that she is and remains ok and continues to get better. She also left a little new-years greeting in form of a recording. What makes me very suspicious (of management) is that she didn't post on her main at all. Almost like she was shadow-suspended and they're using her hospitalization as a cover-up.

I agree that its kind of strange that there has been nothing from Selen after missing so much. She might be in a really terrible state medical wise, that she can't communicate right now. To anyone that's speculating: I have personally been in BOTH circumstances being speculated on...one being a physical injury (pretty bad accident, couldn't physically even use a phone) and one being...well, mental injury (and we'll leave it at that). In both situations I was without my phone for a few days. Now, logic says which of these is what's up with Selen (and judging by the way Niji keeps sticking it to her, and holidays being hard for many people it'd make sense) BUT the other option is very possible too. Just do as Khyo has asked and reach out to her, show her all the love I know the vtuber community can muster....she really needs it as it's gonna be pretty serious either way. EDIT: Also, don't forget to send love to the person, NOT SELEN....she may play Selen, but there's a human behind those pixels that could be having a real hard time telling the difference right now.

So, from personal experience with psych wards: The problem is that the initial post about hospitalization was at a time WAY too convenient to management, and the wording of it implies psychiatric care, not normal hospital situation, especially the 'under supervision' and 'only just got access to my phone back' bits. They don't prevent access to your phone in normal hospital situations. She missed two planned collab streams prior to the mention of being in med care, and her general sudden silence implies she was likely being either disallowed from posting by management, or in a psych ward. No matter what the situation was, it's pretty obvious that if she IS in the psych ward, it's Anycolor's fault, given the timing was JUST AFTER they started that BS with yoinking her work from her, alongside the other issues we KNOW management has with her. Add in the likely backlash from management over her response to management yoinking the cover, and it's entirely likely that if there was something requiring a psychiatric visit, the main trigger was Anycolor. Anycolor's reputation is bad for good reason, and their management being abusive toward talent is far from a secret. An abusive work environment can absolutely DESTROY one's mental health and general willpower. Either they pushed her over an edge, or were actively malicious in falsely reporting something to get her hospitalized against her will. Unfortunately, the latter one happens far too often in reality, and once you are 'in the system', there is a MANDATORY hold, no matter what the hospital staff discover about the real situation. I guess we will likely find out for sure one way or the other after she's out, and if she immediately seeks graduation after getting out. Because with all the other BS, this would certainly be a 'straw that breaks the camel's back' type of situation, and Pomu's graduation announcement so shortly after this incident also raises some eyebrows about what may have actually happened behind the scenes. We all know that agency Vtubers are expected to still toe the line to the public after announcing graduation unless they want a courtroom fight, regardless of what the circumstance is.
