When the accusations were made against Taiga, I was puzzled. A self-proclaimed femboy is transphobic? That doesn't track. He's toxic? Maybe I hang with a bad crowd, but to me Taiga appears to be one of the least toxic people I've ever seen. All the accusations claimed Taiga was the exact opposite of what I had always seen. Then I learned the real source of those accusations. And while that was its own kind of crazy, the overall situation started to make more sense. That was when the light-bulb went on... The accuser was projecting their own psychological dysfunctions onto Taiga. The mindless, incessant, senseless persecution of Taiga wasn't about Taiga. It was about a bad person with way too much power, treating others badly.

I'm not really a Taiga fan, and admittedly some of his comments were inappropriate. Still, accusations without proof should be taken with a heap of salt. Still, this isnt really new. This attitude predates the internet (e.g. the satanic panic.) Humans are just naturally reactionary, herd mentality takes over.

Sad but true. This is precisely why it's so important to refuse doing as others do but do what's right. Bad mentalities are like a disease. If they're allowed to persist, they can and will infect others, even if the infected aren't privy to it. This man's clearly got issues... but who doesn't? I don't believe anything I've seen of this guy is remotely sufficient cause to rob him of his livelihood. Dislike him all you want. Got a problem with his sexuality, masculinity, or provocative nature? You've got every right to shout it from the rooftops. Talk him down all you like, but make sure what you're saying has a valid basis. But don't run about slandering him with false accusations. Doing that is a hell of a lot more damning than any credible accusation I've seen levied against him. I don't even follow Taiga, didn't know who he was before this, nor do I have any intention of following him in the future, but this situation genuinely hurts to see. I pray God blesses him with the justice he deserves.

I will say, in Nux's defense, he made another apology after that. It was still not *only* an apology to Taiga, but a part of another video, so many people didn't take well to it. It was a video called "Awful Situation..." on his main channel, about a month ago. He still got some things wrong, but I don't think that means he isn't sorry... Just shit at proof-checking his info. However, Taiga said clearly, they wanted to bury the hatchet with Nux. They'd never like him, nor completely forgive him, but they wanted to place the past in the past.

From what I knew, he admitted he made a mistake with the Taiga situation on Kick and gave a half-assed apology. Taiga fans jumped down his throat, so he apologized in the middle of an unrelated stream VoD on his secondary channel. Taiga fans jumped down his throat again. Then he released this video, which was tangential to Taiga's situation, and he put Taiga in the thumbnail. In all instances, he didn't really do his research and got a lot of things wrong, sometimes even his own word choice.

One thing i can't tolerate about modern internet society is "guilty until proven innocent" being the norm. Allegations might as well be mandates from God as far as most people are concerned. They decide the defendant is guilty and refuse to hear any refusals, explanations, or even hard evidence otherwise. I've wanted to get into content creation, but it's terrifying to think some faceless rando could just point and say, "He bad, he do bad ting" baselessly and just immediately delete my career. Well it's quite easy to see why. Internet, for the most part, is all thoughts and no actions. To act on the internet is hard so all that is visible is thought. So if you are cronically online, thought becomes action, even if no such actions are taken. That is quite literally, I would say, the way how you should diagnose online addiction. The issue with cancel culture: Who watches the watchmen? Except rather than someone *known* to be in a position to be watched, it’s the public taking it into their hands instead of you know, waiting for an investigation to finish. The perpetrators disperse into the crowd, escaping all repercussions if their victim is ever proven innocent. They can go _“Oopsie! As an avid supporter of human behavioral psychology, every time I hear about these stories and how despite conflicting evidence or even a lack of concrete conviction in an actual freakin legal case, it always fills me with rage. Humans, as with any animal, can only be pushed so far into a corner, for only so long, before they break. And it’s impossible to tell what happens when that moment comes. The social media age is the age of approved sociopathy. Don’t encourage such actions, even if you think are justified. If the allegations had any chance of working, why not put it into the legal system? Be humanistic and sympathize, but maintain awareness and scrutiny. It’s easy to hide sociopathic behavior if you can get somebody to sympathize with you first.

Yeah, it's why I get disappointed any time Nux or Muta go on about drawings and stuff as if it's any kind of evidence, no more so than what kind of video games someone ways playing, I would say. If they had photos of real people, DM's/emails/text or otherwise showing inappropriate interactions, stuff like that is typically credible and where the actual behavior can be assessed. So what if the guy has a manga collection or commissions artists, that doesn't mean anything, no matter what the content is because fiction is fiction and fiction cannot ever be reality. These are adult products that no minor should ever have access to, but are still introduced to kids for a variety of reasons, sometimes those reasons being malicious, but not directly correlated with any crime. Removing violence in video games will not decrease violence IRL, banning drugs and alcohol does not lead to a decrease in their consumption, and removing shota/loli will not lead to a decrease in pedophilia.

I don’t know much about nor do I watch Taiga, but I do hope that things will get better for Taiga. This makes me ask one question: why do people continue to act like toxic sheep? They hear one rumor, see one thing that Taiga does as an opportunity to get him into what looks to be social exile, paint him in a bad light, and still cause more damage even now. I'm not a frequent viewer of Taiga's streams, in fact I discovered him by chance but he gave me a good vibe that made me think he was a great guy. One of the reasons I don't usually watch Taiga's streams is because of the language, I'm Spanish, he's American and I'm too lazy to try to understand what he says. And since I didn't watch his streams, I wasn't aware of this whole situation. I only saw his comments on his new Twitter account and I wondered why he was so melancholic, and now I know. Perhaps what I find strangest is that I don't see anything strange in what he did, I mean obviously asking for nudes from a minor is not good, but the fact is that he was 19 years old. They were only two years apart and they made a scandal out of it, to give an example here in Spain it is normal for couples to be between two and three years apart, it is not unusual to see a 20 or 19 year old boy with a 17 year old girl, and it is normal for both to have sexual relations even though any of the members are minors. I don't know, maybe it's because in Spain we are free and open with these issues or something like that, but really all I see is a teenager who probably wants to get drunk, fuck, experiment and enjoy life without hurting others.

This thing happens due to pretty complicated stuff within fandoms. I remember seeing such accusations back in the latter half of the 2000's (!), got increasingly bad due to culture war stuff and some on the "pro-side" tried to use quite awful arguments (mainly the "but AoC outside the USA" stuff, which fortunately started to disappear, but also please don't counter-accuse people!), and also the pro-side had its "creator of sword cartoon" moments, most recently and famously the "creator of high school girl meme simulator game" moment. I wanted to untangle this whole situation to then make a video essay out of it, but it would require digging up old forum threads (if they're archived at all), which has potential ethical issues, not to mention is hard for a single individual.

Lawsuits are incredibly expensive. Even if he won, it's very likely he'd be awarded less than the lawsuit cost, it would only make things worse for Taiga. It's getting increasingly frustrating seeing people treating Lawsuits like some silver bullet, or a spell you can chant to instantly achieve victory. It doesn't work like that, and the reality is that pursuing justice through the courts just isn't a viable option for most victims. Also statute of limitations on Nux's statements has passed so he couldn't sue even if he wanted to at this point.
