I can relate to how this son must feel. I had harboured similar ill-feelings for my maternal grandfather as well. (I still do, despite 6 years after his passing into the afterlife) All he ever did was get me into trouble with my mother by complaining about me. That is why I refused to skip my work and relinquish my bonus (worth an extra 1.5 times my monthly salary) to go and attend his funeral. He is not worth it. He NEVER was. People who read these comments might find me unpopular to share something like this, but I (and I alone) know how much hardship I have endured thanks to him.

Not to be rude while pointing this, but, Thé story of Kaikeyi is a wrong reference. She was a fool that was influenced by an elderly oaf who couldn’t control her own personal insecurities. (And history remembers Kaikeyi as a shrewd and astute politician more than capable of seeing through such stupidity, mind you) So, do not compare that story of Ramayan with this wonderful mother on-screen. It gives the whole concept of motherhood, a bad name.

Ram used to love Kaikai more than his own mother, Kaushalya and even Kaikai used to shower more love on Ram than her own son, Bharat. Yes, she momentarily got brainwashed by Manthara and she ended up sending the apple of her eyes to exile. That was very wrong on her part, even I agree but when realisation dawned upon her, she understood what a grave sin she had committed but the truth is had she not done that, Ram would not have encountered Ravana while rescuing Sita during his days of exile and the world would never have been free of a sinner like Ravana. So, you see it was more of Brahma's decision for the larger purpose of betterment of humanity

Nice wOrk of FICTION! Doing this once is one thing... But my parents have strategically been abandoning and defaming me for many years now. It has become their hobby. I was earning very well through my classes but still they used to deliberately tell everyone that I was broke and dependent upon them. When lockdown happened, they used the situation to further torture me and my then pregnant wife and recently, when I had an accident in sept 2022, when I was severely injured, they did not even call or message to know if I was ok or not. Not all parents are good... Some parents deliberately mean bad upon their children. Toxic parenting does exist... Don't generalize that parents always mean well. I was self-dependent before they tortured and disowned us and am still self dependent because of my efforts ... Not because of their 'tough parenting' India saw many great freedom fighters and noble people during the Indian freedom struggle.... We do not give credit to the torture of the Britishers and say 'it is because they took away our freedom that these freedom fighters got the scope to do what they did...' It would be cruel to conclude so. It was because of the efforts and resolve of the fighters that we achieved what we achieved. Same applies to this kind of tough parenting... There are many other ways to motivate children to become self dependent... Torturing them only makes their morale weak... Very few people born between 1950 -1970 A.D. are good parents... Most of them do this for the fun of it.
