I actually like Nik and feel that his banter and antics are def phenomenal for a Live game production. Many people are incredibly negative and hostile towards him and they continually comment about how terrible a player he is but if u have never played high stakes NL then it is virtually impossible to understand what is literally unfolding before our eyes!! That being said I will try and break it down. Having witnessed several people lose and lose and lose, even unravel completely I can tell you that it is not unusual but fairly common. A young relatively new to the game player begins playing high stakes NL and almost immediately that player experiences amazing successes bc they are fearless and an unknown to the other players and of course they always experience a huge amount of “run good” as well. As they keep winning more and more they move up to even higher stakes and yea it happens, the run good continues. Usually depending on where they play they eventually end up in the biggest NL games where they will inevitably find a higher level of player and a more well bank-rolled group of players. It is usually at this point that the better players analyze and determine that the new younger player has been getting away with a style that has way too much bluffing and ofc they correctly start calling down. Suddenly the young player is breaking even but doesn’t realize that he is still running great and if not for his ill timed bluffs he would still be winning. And then it happens…the run good ends and the poker variance kicks in!!! Now that new player not only is running regular but may even start to run bad in spots like here with the set over set. Now couple that with the fact that several players have him figured out and he is still bluffing too much and then finally the almighty tilt kicks in!!!! And what u have is the perfect storm for incredible downswings like Airball’s prob almost $10M downfall!!! I like u Nik and definitely enjoy ur persona. Hope u can turn it around kid or at least stay in the game possibly breaking even. Poker can be brutal but good luck!!
