I think it's a nice word play. They're electric in the sense of bringing excitement but it also points to their music as in "electronic music" (Elektronische Musik) which includes stuff like synth pop etc. Besides, they don't have to change the merch that only has EC, the logo etc on it (which is something people complained about when they heard about the name change).

I will say, I think Electro Callboy could've worked better. It rolls off the tongue better and it emphasizes the electronic aspect of their music more.

@@phantomtearsca I think they refer to themselves as callboys at times and electric just emphazises that as an adjective while electro would just be another noun next to callboy. Electronic Callboy would be too long I guess... I think you're right that electric with c at the end and then c for callboy is a little clunky maybe but not too bad. I can't speak for them and don't know why they did it that way, I just personally like double meanings.

It‘s a german thing. Electric is close to the german „elektrisch“ so we often don‘t think of the word „electro“ here.

"Raider heißt jetzt Twix, sonst ändert sich nix" means "Raider is now called Twix, nothing else is gonna change" - twix is that chocolate bar filled with cookie and caramel. In Germany Twix was called Raider for many, many years and they just changed that name about at least 20 or even 30 years ago to have that brand called the same in every country. So this just means that nothing concerning the band will ever change, it`s just a new name.

I mean... there are a lot of practical advantages to what they chose. They don't have to totally reimagine their logo, for one. All the merch with just the initials can stay the same. And Electric makes a lot more sense for a band that blends metal with electronic music, really. I never quite understood why Eskimo. I was never _offended_ by it, and I'll admit the absurdity of the name contributed a little to my first click on Hypa Hypa, but overall I think this is a better name. Oh, also, in the right fonts, the two words _look_ very similar, so at a glance, scanning through titles in a KZbin bar with peripheral vision, it still looks familiar enough to trigger a more direct glance. Smart marketing, I think, and a nice prophylactic move against rabid cancel culture, while also announcing it in a way that's contextually sensitive to what's happening in the world.
