Progressive Metal is about writing songs that fall outside of the narrow boundaries that currently define "Metal". It's called *Progressive* (which means to _make progress_ or _to continually develop_) because the musicians that write this style of music are _progressively_ pushing the boundaries of "Metal" further and further away from the norm. Nocturnal - do you think it's fair to say you've pushed the boundaries of modern Metal..? Personally, I don't hear it.... *I'm **_not_** saying it's a bad album!!* I am simply making an observation about the label you've chosen to define your album with. You said you welcomed criticism... so.... you're welcome ; ) If you want examples of songs I would label as _Progressive_; check out the Prog playlist on my KZbin page! Thank you for the feedback, actually progressive metal to me is about writing songs that fall outside of the natural structures and rythems that follow the majority of metal and create a somewhat diverse atmosphere overall, which is the only reason I labeled it as such since the majority of the songs are constantly changing and dont follow a specific structure, as well as every song has it's own unique sound which is largely due to having different vocalists whom have different styles on the album :)

I do get what you're saying man... however... I didn't come across any riffs in any other time than 4/4, and the chord progressions you've used can be found in standard Metal songs. Regardless of this, I bet you will become successful. Peace

divinasion progressive as a term is more of a personal interpretation. My thoughts on this are that it does fall under progressive. How do you feel about it? Riffs quips hits. That's what you're looking for. Not necessarily what Nik saw in the creation of the album.

I thought progressive referred to the structure of song/album and how it develops. I. E intro verse chorus verse chorus is pretty standard but if there were more bridges and different verses or choruses had different structures its more progressive?

Pretty cool stuff. Miles beyond most self produced stuff out there. That said, the guitars could stand to be a bit more...how to say it...solid in the mix. More produced. I hear them. But it's like they're a little soft and undefined. The vocals seem to be 'on top' of the guitars...actually stepping on the guitars in the mix. And I hate to say it...but this stuff is all ABOUT the chugging djenty guitars. Did you use mix bus compression? You also might want to look at some plug-ins for guitar production...such as Bias Amp or some of the Joey Sturgis stuff. Just some constructive criticism. No hate. :D By the way, Evocation is by far and away my fav tune here. Like the structure and the use of ambient keys. Wondering if Paul Wardingham is an influence.
