I know a woman who used that product exact to package instructions: She cooks several times daily and so lots of dishes and for her the constant humidity caused that double sided adhesive to sag and it says lifetime gaurantee but they found a loophole to prevent refunding her money. Muscle Bound works well on a perfectly flat wall. Be sure there is no dust or film on the back of the tiles before you lightly stick them up. I’ll use rubbing alcohol on a lint free rag to be sure. Must be dry to stick to the adhesive. Once you are happy with placement you must press hard to activate the adhesive. Slight gaps can be filled out with a second layer of adhesive sheeting. Once pressed firmly the tiles are never coming off. I use a laminate roller and my body weight or if a bumpy tile a press down with a towel. The wall would have to come off along with the tile.

However when it comes to stuff like tiles, bathrooms and kitchens, it’s not a good idea to do this stuff. Doing it the proper way with proper resources and trained professionals will ensure the longevity and quality of the home. You would want your bathroom or kitchen to not fall apart after a few years, preferably forever and you definitely don’t want other issues like water damage and moisture build up in the future. The tiles are supposed to look like hand made tiles, they aren’t meant to look perfectly smooth and even. That is a design trend right now, I have seen them used in kitchen renovations or new builds, and they look beautiful!
@rachelharris7252 жыл бұрын
I used mosaic tumbled stone tiles that had that kind of backing on it already, just used a dremel to trim where needed. Been up in my motorhomes kitchen and bathroom (over a mirror backsplash at that) going on 5 years now and nothing has come loose. It was a total of 11 tiles so not that much added weight and the peel and stick plastic crap looked too fake and cheap for this older "luxury coach."

It will become unstuck at some point due to the tile being heavy..If your doing it for a quick fix for a rental or something..Maybe..But not for a permanent installation in a house. Better to do it right the 1st time.

Millennial construction. Do it right or don't do it. These shortcut products end up in one of two ways. 1) Costs you even more in the long run when it fails. Because it absolutely will. 2) Costs someone else money & a headache when it fails (if you sell the house)

Good job. Mastic wouldn’t have been that much more time. You buy the premixed stuff.

Anyone using this should ensure your walls are a flat even surface. 99.9% of walls are not. So you will need to spackle (aka drywall mud) the walls until level if you want the tiles to be even. Whereas; mudding helps level out the lows in the wall. Those concerned about the adhesive holding. Most people change out their kitchens after 20 years, unless your wealthy which is every 10 years so the adhesive should hold up well.

I got one easier for you. Don't remove your tile at all. Simply clean the hell out of your current tile surface. Purchase gorilla construction adhesive and put the glue on the back of each new piece of tile and place it on your current backsplash. Use your spacers and wait 24 hrs for glue to fully cure and then grout. Cheaper and quicker and it allows your to adjust tile as needed through the install.

You need to take your ad or your video clip and send it to the company and ask them about advertising their product. That you did for your own purpose but it makes a great advertisement I can tell you that much because I’m impressed with it that I have thought about doing something like that myself but didn’t even know it was out there so thank you for the information on it.

There’s so much innovation in the chemical industry. But most people are not aware of this. Like this adhesive for tiles. And so people will think it is not good or will not last longer compare to the common practice. But i think we are heading toward great advancement in the construction industry bec of the innovation in other fields of science such as in the chemicals and the likes.

Inspection won’t catch things like this. I found out that the house I bought last year used this stuff when I changed the backsplash. We cut around the tiled area and you can see the drywall and then tile, no layer of mortar. That stuff works extremely well to the point where it was easier to pull the entire wall section off then replace the drywall. Not sure how long it was up before we moved in but it was up for over a year when i moved in without any issues.

I think the product is probably fine, although I'd be more worried that the adhesive was installed over unfaced ( demo damaged) sheetrock that may not maintain a good bond. The unevenness of the tile is a result of the subway tile used, not misalignment, accentuated by the proximity down lighting of the vent hood. 45 yrs of General Contracting business.

Not a problem to leave old, clean, laminate-plastic backsplash intact if it’s flat, at least not for me & I’m very, very pick. Did my first backsplash in 2006 & used adhesive to perfectly lay travertine 4x4s at 45 degree angle right to existing, laminate backsplash. Though I did remove 1/4” metal trim around edge of laminate & used half piece travertine with curved edge for border. It’s still intact & beautiful. But had this been available then would have used this.

The only thing I'd recommend is to always always always primer the drywall brown paper if you ever see it. It needs a coat to not peel and flake off so easily. The weight will peel ot over time. You may not ever have issues but just to be safe always if you see brown paper prime it. You can buy primer can and spray it to be quicker. Especially kn drywall patches. It will get wet and bubble immediately.

Should have sealed the drywall exposed paper with Draw-Tite first. This DYI self stick backing doesn't last. The tile looked very uneven thanks to the partial glue removal and the self stick film. Old school mastic would have allowed the tile to be evened out and professional looking there to stay.

Please, if you're going to do this make sure you have a FLAT smooth surface. Otherwise your tiles will will never line up depth wise. You have no way to adjust the tile in or out so everything looks warped and wavy. You also need to make sure the wall doesn't bow out or curve in for the same reason. 🙅🤦 Just pause on the finished tile at the end and you'll see what i mean💁

Looks like a good product. I will have to try it. For the record, there is no “SCH“ in the word extremely. You are pronouncing it: “EX-SCHTREEM-LY”. Bernie Sanders does the same affectation but on him it sounds like his dentures are slipping. Thought you might like to address that. You can also double-check “strange“, “strong“ and “string“. Those words are also commonly mispronounced.
