I know a woman who used that product exact to package instructions: She cooks several times daily and so lots of dishes and for her the constant humidity caused that double sided adhesive to sag and it says lifetime gaurantee but they found a loophole to prevent refunding her money. For those curious, it was unsightly less than 3 months after she applied it. She repaired several spots initially, but just could keep it up bc it was NOT worth it.

Muscle Bound works well on a perfectly flat wall. Be sure there is no dust or film on the back of the tiles before you lightly stick them up. I’ll use rubbing alcohol on a lint free rag to be sure. Must be dry to stick to the adhesive. Once you are happy with placement you must press hard to activate the adhesive. Slight gaps can be filled out with a second layer of adhesive sheeting. Once pressed firmly the tiles are never coming off. I use a laminate roller and my body weight or if a bumpy tile a press down with a towel. The wall would have to come off along with the tile.

I love how now there’s methods on how people can customise their own homes without spending a fortune. However when it comes to stuff like tiles, bathrooms and kitchens, it’s not a good idea to do this stuff. Doing it the proper way with proper resources and trained professionals will ensure the longevity and quality of the home. You would want your bathroom or kitchen to not fall apart after a few years, preferably forever and you definitely don’t want other issues like water damage and moisture build up in the future. Something I can recommend for people who want to install tiles in their kitchen is either go to a professional or get some peel and stick tiles to use for the meanwhile. Though with that you would eventually have to remove it !

They're a thing, really. They are attempting to mimic handcut clay tiles. The edges are sharp and there should be a super thin, almost non-existent grout line. I think these are more interesting than plain, smooth, white subway tile which date your remodel a full decade older. I don't know why there's so much negativity here, it looks good and any criticism is just nit-picking. Is everyone just mad because that adhesive made it so much easier than what others experienced? Folks are just contrary sometimes. Please update if any tiles come off, as predicted by some comments. What does the warranty do if one pops off? I definitely think the technology exists for an adhesive to stick these on forever, so why not?

Thin set will certainly work, but for a kitchen backsplash, I'd use mastic. The tiles won't sag and it's much easier to work with. But in wet applications such as a bathroom, then thin set is the way to go.

when you were removing the adhesive towards the beginning of the bed, here’s a DIY tip that might help. Use a hot iron and put a sheet of wax paper in between the iron andbthe adhesive surface. The heat from the iron will melt at adhesive make it easier to scrape off. You can also try steaming it off with the iron as well. this worked really well for me removing 12 x 12 floor tiles in a bedroom on a project once. I also tried a hot towel process, but it was a huge fail.

I'm a contractor and this stuff works fine for a simple backsplash, although I wouldn't use it. The issue I see is that homeowners aren't going to prep the sub surface properly, and this is a good example of that. They left a lumpy sub surface under the adhesive and the final product reflects this lumpy look with lippage all over the place. Id love to see them place a long straight edge across the surface of those tile to see how lumpy it really is. If it did this for a customer they'd make me do it over.

Anyone using this should ensure your walls are a flat even surface. 99.9% of walls are not. So you will need to spackle (aka drywall mud) the walls until level if you want the tiles to be even. Whereas; mudding helps level out the lows in the wall. Those concerned about the adhesive holding. Most people change out their kitchens after 20 years, unless your wealthy which is every 10 years so the adhesive should hold up well.

Purchase gorilla construction adhesive and put the glue on the back of each new piece of tile and place it on your current backsplash. Use your spacers and wait 24 hrs for glue to fully cure and then grout. Cheaper and quicker and it allows your to adjust tile as needed through the install.

We cut around the tiled area and you can see the drywall and then tile, no layer of mortar. That stuff works extremely well to the point where it was easier to pull the entire wall section off then replace the drywall. Not sure how long it was up before we moved in but it was up for over a year when i moved in without any issues.

I think the product is probably fine, although I'd be more worried that the adhesive was installed over unfaced ( demo damaged) sheetrock that may not maintain a good bond. The unevenness of the tile is a result of the subway tile used, not misalignment, accentuated by the proximity down lighting of the vent hood. 45 yrs of General Contracting business.

The only thing I'd recommend is to always always always primer the drywall brown paper if you ever see it. It needs a coat to not peel and flake off so easily. The weight will peel ot over time. You may not ever have issues but just to be safe always if you see brown paper prime it. You can buy primer can and spray it to be quicker. Especially kn drywall patches. It will get wet and bubble immediately.
