Yeah...I was hoping they do a complete overhaul of the 2K series with the next gen consoles, but nope...it's the same ole same ole. And there's also the fact that they have no competition when it comes wrestling games, so they're probably content releasing basically the same game every year.

I used to play the hell out this game as kid but never knew about that limo finisher. The one thing that did piss me off about this game was the fact it required a PSP in order to unlock Jake the snake.

This is it. This is where it all began for me. The year was 2005. The year my family and I were introduced to WWE as a whole and we became huge fans of it really quickly due to everything shown. Then later that same year, me and my brother got the brand new slim PS2 along with two games. Jaws Unleashed and of course this gem right here. This was the very first wrestling game I have ever played and I was blown away by everything. I even remembered the first ever match my brother ever did when we played first time. Chris Jericho Vs Christian in a normal 1v1 match at Vengeance. The amount of fun we had with this one was extraordinary, I wish I can relive those moments again. That’s why I miss this series so much. So many memories.

This game is memorable to me because it was the only one where I had the PS2 and PSP copies of the game. I was able to layeth the smackdown anywhere I wanted, such as school. It introduced GM mode which I really got into as well.

The create an entrance load times are the bane of my existence to this very day... Still my favorite PS2 wrestling game. By far. The only other thing that pissed me off (aside from the perpetual black-listing of Scott Hall in WWF games) was the knock-off nWo theme. Goddamnit. And I still have a GM mode file after all these years. It isn't super current, as it has been close to a year since I played SvR '06. But it's very, very recent.

I find it a bit bizarre that in Title Match mode, the World Heavyweight Championship is under Smackdown! & the WWE Championship is under Raw this despite the fact that in season mode the World Heavyweight Championship is on Raw while the WWE Championship is on Smackdown!. To make it even more bizarre, the default title for the WWE Championship in Title Match mode is the Spinner title but the one used in the Smackdown! season mode is the Undisputed title.

Was this better than SvR 07? I never played it and always had the impression that it wasn't as good as HCTP but was still the best out of the entire 'Smackdown vs Raw' series. Also, is the gameplay speed just as slow/sluggish as the other SvR games. I remember 07 and onward being very slow.

This is definitely a good game, but I will always favor HCTP over most of the other games on the PS2. It's simply one of my favorite games of all time.
