Nike Invincible Run 3 Review - First Reaction (heel slip???)

Today I'm doing a review of the Nike ZoomX Invincible 3, Nike's latest edition of their ultra-cushioned running shoe. I've seen a lot of people complaining about the heel slip, so I wanted to see if it's an issue for me, an average runner.

The heel slippage is no joke and a deal breaker for me (coming from an Invincible 2 lover). What is Nike thinking? No one tested the shoe????? I'm dumb-founded how this could happen with a multi-billion company. Thanks for the video

Spot on review. I would add that the midsole is less flexible as well. It feels like a different shoe altogether from the previous versions.

Cheaper produced zoomx mixture. After all the V1 zoomx shoes they changed something that now makes it feel to plastic ish.

"maternity ward blanket color" LMAO too funny cause its true! The Infinity React 1's are one of my all time favorite Nike shoes... I never had any of the heel slip issues that many did and hope the Invincible 3s do me right once my 2s wear out and price drops on the 3. Good review as always, Cheers!

Much prefer my v2. The v3 went back to Nike, £170 for a shoe with heel slip,ridiculous, thankfully managed to stock up on a few pairs of cheap v2.

Slippage led to blisters on ball of foot so bad I got a trapped nerve after skin healed. Put me back two weeks of training before race season. I’ve returned them. Nike know what’s up, they didn’t even question my out of date return. No idea what animal they tested these shoes on…

I noticed the heel slip when I first tried. Did the runner knot and I felt better. After running 2k I felt a weird sensation on my foot - it was a blister. I don't remember the last time that I had problem with a shoe like that. I will try to change the laces and do another knot, if that doesn't work I will return the shoe. Sad, because besides the heel slip it was a comfortable shoe to run.

I bought this V3 last week and had to take them back to the store for a refund. Heel slippage is an issue and the runner knot did not help. With the refunded money I ended up buying another pair of the heavily discounted V2 (only £125). 😍😍😍

I've got 25 miles in my Invincible Run 3 that I got about a week ago and it's alright, but it's a letdown because my expectations were high and I don't love it like I love the Invincible Run 2. The heel slippage is there although I was able to minimize it with the runner's knot. Even then, the fit isn't all that great and hard to dial in. I guess I'll get a feel for how I should lace up to get a good lockdown without too much cinch pressure on top of my feet. I've had to stop in the middle of my runs and re-lace numerous times. The ride is good but it feels clunkier than the v2. It's definitely a little firmer and more stable but I never had stability issues on v2, so the added firmness and improved stability, to me, is a downer. It's just not as fun of ride as it is on v2. Still, I like it overall and I'm keeping it. I need to experiment with different thickness socks (and I have plenty) and when I find the right one, I think it'll be fine. The heel slippage is an issue out of the box but it can be fixed. The review is pretty much spot on. It's a good shoe but it's definitely not great, which is what I was hoping it to be. Nike tried to improve upon v2 but overshot and made it worse. Hey, at least it does look sleeker and a little better overall. I have two pairs of v2 and they still have a lot of miles left in them but I'll probably snag another one or two on discount eventually. The bottom line: v2 is better than v3.

Too much cushion causes instability and muscle fatigue. Had a pair and barely made 300 miles, and the muscle fatigue was bad. The heel slip sucks as well. Finally, i had bottom heel pain on my left foot. Got a pair of Hoka shoes and problems solved.

I dont understand what Nike is intending becoming zoomX firmer in all shoes they produce. The Alphafly v2 is firmer than v1, losing that fun that made V1 the best long distance shoe ever. Zoomfly5 has an firmer zoomx just like turbo Next nature. Iam afraid of seeing this firmer zoomx in VF v3. Nice video!

Definitely a firmer midsole but it feels so much more of a controlled shoe as far as foot plant...or am I just nuts? lol

I agree. One thing I didn't cover (I'll probably make a 150 mile review soon) is the addition of a strobel board or pad under the insole. The V1/V2 insole just sat on the foam, while the V3 has an additional layer that I suspect adds some stability.

The curse of making a great shoe; they have to make changes every two or so versions or else there's no reason to buy the latest release. The V1 and V2 were almost exactly the same, so I wasn't surprised that this was pretty different. I just wish they were a little less firm.

Hi great video thanks.Like you I love the 2 put it on and was like wow this is fantastic and always felt like I wanted to run further at the end.Have so far done about 60 miles in the 3 and first reaction was it feels nothing like as comfortable on the upper and like you my heel slipped so have to try, with the short laces provided to do a runners knot which works but then the shoe feels tight.Then and this is the big issue for me there is the cushion and bounce, for me with the 2 it just worked straight out of the box it was comfortable and fun to run in every time.With this its still ok but there is no wow factor the subtle changes mean its lost its magic.So in summary its massively more expensive than the heavily discounted 2 and for me they have good backwards.So disappointed.

I’d say these are probably too expensive for your first shoes. I’m not familiar with the SuperComp, but the Nike Pegasus or the New Balance 880 are great, versatile shoes. From there you can figure out if you like more cushioning, firmness, etc. for your next pair

Got it, makes sense. For Nike, the Invincible will definitely have the most cushion. Check out the Invincible 2; there are some great deals to be found now that the 3 is out

Yeah, I've seen a lot of this feedback; my issues went away when I re-laced the shoe, but everyone's feet respond differently.

I think so. Posting a video directly comparing the two this weekend, but V2 is more cushioned and V3 feels more firm. Neither are “bad” shoes and both do have a lot of cushioning, but they are somewhat different.

This shoe gave me achilles rub and heel slip. Very unstable even to walk in. I returned them.

I know they have a wear testers program (it was a big part of the marketing for the original version, where they showed a bunch of dirty test shoes), so you’d think someone would have noticed these issues

What if you changed the stretchy laces to non-stretulases? do you think that might help with these shoes?

It might a little, however the V1 had very stretchy laces and they didn't slip at all. Like I said, it's not a huge deal, but if you are using all the eyelets or doing a runner's knot, you might need longer laces. Fortunately, I have all my old shoes sitting in a bin and I can just pull from those.

@@FreshBrewRunClub right now for New Balance I only use two shoes, the 880 is my daily trainer, and I even use it in racing sometimes. my lighter NB shoe is the Tempo V2, I'll use that for racing, even up to a half marathon, just depending on what shape I'm in, how also use the tempo for Speed work sometimes. usually an older pair of tempos. For racing flats, New Balance used to have the 1400 which was a fantastic short course racing flat, but that one is discontinued. I don't have any of their carbon-plated shoes, I just don't feel I'm fast enough to Warrant that cost. If you want to try a set of tempos, check out runner Warehouse they have them on clearance. I think the tempo V2 has been discontinued, and I haven't seen a V3 yet.

I’d say it runs a little wide. I got my size and it fits; any smaller wouldn’t be comfortable in my estimation

Invincible 1 and 2 have midsole glue tear off problem.. i had returned my shoe just after 40km. But invisible 2 is really is excellent shoe. Not sure on invisible 3 got this problem?

Big company did not even know the heel slippage issue what a garbage shoes thats why its on sale now for $75 but dont watse your money here you gonna return it for sure . Waste of time! Even $10 i will not buy this

Like I said, I did a runners knot after one mile and then problem went away. But everyone is different
