I bought this as soon as it dropped. I am involved in an auxiliary function to the Breaking sport, but I do have a history in hip-hop dance and choreography. I think it's true to size for 2 reasons. When you're dancing, there's a high likelihood of your shoe flying off in centrifugal force generating motions. The furthest backpart of your heel needs to be recessed behind the collar padding to prevent that. I'd go so far as to say that this shoe is almost built around keeping that heel in place. So you lace them loose in the front, and tight in the back. The second reason is that you need command of your big toe in dance. Just like futsal, the perfect dance shoe will move 1:1 with your toe. That's why jazz shoes and ballet shoes are the way they are. So your foot should actually be flush on both ends of the shoe. For this build, having your articulation points line up with slices in the overlay leather as the midsole molds to your foot are what makes it comfy. Fully broken in, they are quite comfy.

Dope video. I will say, some of the materials provided for durability, is what is intended for. For breaking, I’ve used adidas superstar, puma suede, Reebok classic leather, Nike airmax 90, and even Converse chuck Taylor’s. Depending on the stage or style you’re in for breaking, some require more cushion for power moves while some may want supportive but flexible interior for mobility. Looking forward to supporting breaking at the Olympics this weekend :)

I had the Futura x Nike Jam collab and I sent it back. As a Breaker (B-boy) these aren't great for Breaking, which is sad but I am happy we finally have a sneaker repping our culture. From an anatomical perspective if you notice the sole is like a slab and straight there's no curvature/arch for the inside of the foot and after a while of training the hurt your feet will feel is next level. The best sneaker for breaking in my opinion is the Huarache Runner or the Nike P-6000.

Really appreciate Nike not releasing these through SNKRS so you know, I had a chance to get em. They were super ninja about the drop too. I had been waiting for these and they just showed up one day but what surprised me is that they only released in Women's sizing. Wifey saw me grabbing the blacks and scooped up on the browns herself. And yes they run a bit snug. Had to skip the last set of eyelets to keep em loose but they seem to be breaking in as I've been rockin em pretty regularly lately.

Another cool feature are the dots on the midsole that are supposed to help the dancer find the spots on the foot for holds by sense of touch.

As someone who grew up breakdancing in the late 80s and 90s, it's wild seeing it make its way to the Olympics. I actually dig the brown color way. I definitely agree that they should've done more with the branding and marketing for the shoe. I had no idea about this shoe until this video, although the shoe being a women's release means it's harder for men to grab a pair.

Hey Chris. What yeah was your favorite year for sneaker releases? For example, I like 2018. We got the Jordan 3 black cement, Jordan 11 concord, the Union black toe Jordan 1 and the air max Sean Wotherspoon’s. I know you’re quite fond of the early 2000’s. 2025 might be the year cause they have some unreal releases coming. Love the channel.

QOTD: Cool history lesson! I think I like the idea of there being a breakdancing-specific shoe with appropriate tech for the moves they're doing, but it would have to look better than, say, an Air Max 1 or an Air Max 90, and the Jam is not that. It has Pegasus 2005 or P-6000 vibes, but those are better looking, too. Overall I'd say it's a really cool concept and it may be a good-performing shoe, but the aesthetics are a big miss. Thanks for the review! Come on, one million!

I personally still feel they could’ve done better with the name….like the nike freeze, break, swipe, battle or cipher. Oh well. Anyway really happy you reviewed the shoe…..I’ve been super curious to see how it is. Always thought it was interesting they used the upper of the Air Max 96, which is fine. I like that design. It’s cool to see that it’s kind of like a crossbreed of a running shoe and a Vulc/ cupsole shoe…..since typically what breakers would wear. When I was a spry young lad, I would either rock bruins, blazers, shell toes or running shoes, either because of history…that’s what they rocked back in the 80s or because I liked the lightweight and flexibility runners provided. I’m surprised it’s retailing at $120 without a react drop in….. unlike some of its SB counterparts like the bruins or the ishod.
