Cleaning tip. Buy an all purpose cleaner (APC) like the ones that car detailers use (get the one you can dilute, it’ll turn out cheaper). You would also need a microfibre cloth and a detailing brush. Obviously if your boots are muddy then hose it down or wash off as much of that mud as you can Dilute APC 10:1 or more. Spray on your microfibre cloth and wipe away. For more detailed work use the brush I do it on mine. Works like a charm. It doesn’t harm your boots, you can even use it on leather boots. Wipe the boot with a damp microfibre towel to wipe away any excess cleaner. Detailing brush is your best friend if you want to clean the nooks and crannies of your boot.

Looks like a great boot! I'll be waiting to see the AG model though and hopefully they've tweaked the design of the plate a bit to fix the cracking around the 3/4 stud on the medial side. Seen some references to the superfly 4 on the softness so I'm going to need to give these a try!

Hi Jay, love your review. Considering the Mercurial Pro model usually has a similar upper compared to the Elite, how much different do you think this generation Pro model will be conpared to the Elite? I imagine the Pro upper won’t have the Gripknit and Atomknit, but it will still have the Elite’s Flyknit material. Considering it’s a takedown version, this will be a very impressive feature, and could even a better choice for players who would not want too much grip on their Mercurials.

Maybe it's just me, but whilst I liked the feel of the Phantom GX, the sock like feel is just too thin meaning any time I strike the ball hard I get the sting as if I'm bare foot. Even with grip socks so does anyone have advice on solving that issue?

I was a big time nike fan, but with all the changes it doesn't fit what i look like at all ( surely great boot but not what i'm looking for) I tested the Puma ultra Carbon and i m speechless, a sensation of taking off the ground when on your toes due to the solid soleplat, remarkable !

For cleaning, I haven't tested this but I know it works on sneakers...you could try using compressed air. Sometimes that has a greater effect at moving the dirt out vs. soap and water or whatever liquid cleaner you use. Just a theory!

Depends on how good YOU are at swerving the ball, really. They do offer extra grip, but if you don't have a good technique to make the ball swerve in the first place, it won't make a difference. /Jay

While these are definitely not the most harcore speedboot, that being the carbon ultras, I would say these are probably going to be super sock like and more superfly 4 vibes, plus with the return of the more classically aggressive studs I think it'll be a great pair. I'd have the ultra carbon for that super raw stiff solplate experience and these new mercs for a sock like almost superfly 4 like experience which honestly has been missing in the boot market for a while

@@unisport can't wait to try them! Honestly Jay I've been really struggling to find a boot that is super sock like, yet is a serious speedboot with aggressive traction. Prior superfly have been ok but nothing close to the og superlfy 4 in terms of just being soft and simple(yes the lockdown may not have been the best but it's OK for me). These look like they are the ideal replacement.cant wait....if only they had carbon soleplate... :( 😅

Tough choice tbh, the 9s were great boots. They didn't fit me perfectly due to the slightly longer shape of them (felt like they were 1/4 size too big for me) so never got fully along with them, but they're still great to wear. I'd probably jump on the 16 just because of the fit and comfort really. /Jay
