people blame nike when in reality it’s on the teams. they’re the one who designs their own jerseys. when nike took over in 2017 they didn’t just randomly hire new designers for 30 teams or make some designers work overtime and design jerseys for each team. no they made it the teams responsibilities. it’s much easier and cheaper when nike just lets teams do whatever they want and all they have to do is approve the design and produce it

The yearly jerseys are fine. It seems to be more that the people who criticize them are unaware of what Nike is doing. Things like city jerseys are meant to be unique to a specific city and since most NBA fans care about the sport more than the history of a specific team/city, they just write it off as Nike having no idea what they’re doing. All they have to do is read the statements with the reveal of each jersey as Nike usually summarizes the inspiration behind that design.
