Nike reorganized it’s structure in 2014 but resulting in somewhat the same ETR (as reported by ICIJ). In 2017, US introduced certain tax rules (namely GILTI) to effectively tax these “offshore” earnings in the year earned, rather than repatriated. basically, nike opened another company and had non dutch directors, so netherlands viewed it as a non dutch tax payer and the other countries viewed it as a dutch tax payer, so nike effectively payed no tax.
