Today I'll bring you to the most interesting city in Turkey: Istanbul. It's my first destination after leaving Russia, I arrived here for several weeks, and really enjoyed here. For this vlog, I take you around my neighbourhood in the morning, and then explore two trendy areas while having some of local Turkish street foods.

Italy, Turkey, India, and Thailand...the four horsemen of the foodpocalypse So Simit comes from an Arabic word that means "fine flour". They've been making them since the 1500s based on sources. Like how there are differences between Montreal and NY bagels, there are also varieties of simit between the cities of Turkey. In İzmir, they don't even call them simit but rather gevrek (Turkish for crisp). Having a BEC bagel for breakfast here in NY is the quintessential NY thing to do.

Hi Niki! In English, we have two words for тень - shadow and shade. A shadow is the geometric shape that is cast on the ground of an object. Shade is an area that blocks the sun. So people and animals lie in the shade to avoid the sun. The tree casts a shadow which people can use as shade from the sun. Just thought you might want to know. (I'm an English teacher to Russian speakers).

Merriam-Webster dictionary reports that _shadow_ and _shade_ are synonyms. If every shadowed area without direct light is formed by a kind of trapezoidal frame , it's irrelevant this discussion, because people on shadow will be always into any shaded area (Iight doesn't go around obstacles)

So wonderful to learn about it. I am in North America and people have a strange perception of Turkey. People tend to mistake them for Arabs or some sort of intolerant, retrograde society from the past. They ignore the formidable advance of the Turkish industry and the help that they provided to the economic union. Being a Muslim country automatically place them in the Islamic category, therefore an enemy of Israel. At least this is the thinking of a ignorant frange of the American society . This type of people generally cannot position France or Russia in the map. That said Turkye is a great country and the people are working harder than many countries because they are not accepted in Europe to benefit the generous handouts that Greece, Bulgaria and Hungary benefited to rapidly develop.

I don't like when someone mentions Turkish culture with islam, we have nothing to do with islam if we compare our own Turkish culture. Our life-style is mostly like in Europe, or we already are a secular country, people are not like how the foreigners think about us. I hate the provocation of Europe... I hope one day all people will notice what the real Turkey is. A Turkish city named Izmir which is my hometown, one of the modernest cities in the whole Europe.

There are more stray cats and dogs because they don’t freeze like in colder climates. Imagine Russia is a lot like my home in Scotland: the weather isn’t good for pets that don’t have somewhere warm to sleep.

It’s the hospitable Turkish culture that keeps the city alive. They are friendly and not grumpy like others. And the food is amazing. Turks are good with desserts, they do the french desserts better than the French. I’ve been all over Europe hunting for the best eclairs and I found them in Istanbul.

Woah I finally found you again. Last I saw was you doing a live in st Petersburg during the beginning of the protests over conscription... I had to get a new device and lost the chance to follow you since not remembering your name...but depressed Russian made new video, which for some reason jotted my memory. Last I remember, a random Russian stranger hit you on the streets telling you to speak russian. I had no idea you would leave Russia and now I have to watch your videos of since your protests, to catch up, and get the sense of life in russia, that drew me to finding you initially. Happy you're safe sir.

What a beautiful friendly city, Niki. You must be so relaxed there - can’t wait for your next destination since I can’t travel. What’s the deal with all the cats? They don’t look like they are hungry but who feeds them? ❤️🇨🇦

In Turkey, people go out and feed especially cats, dogs and birds. This is both a sport and happiness for us and we are happy without experiencing any problems. (It is difficult to take care of more than one cat in the house, but I live with 1 at home while taking care of 8 cats and 2 dogs outside.) More precisely, we live in a common area related to the way of thinking and we think that their living spaces should be wide. It is enough for us that they are free and happy (The cat I care for is a cat who lost a paw due to an accident outside, since the vet said it's hard to live outside, my cat is with us (luckily, being with him makes me happy 😀))
