I believe he still had a device that would notify Roan to trigger the meltdown if he died, so he thought he could kill Nikita without anyone killing him first.

This episode rocked so hard! But I kinda feel bad for thinking that Sean would be the one to die ='(, sorry Sean xP. Also, it's pretty amazing how Roan survived so long as well. I mean, he survived the acid in his face, he survived the first house explosion, even his glasses survived !! I'm definitely going to miss him in season 3. No one'll be as badass as Roan, imo
