After much viewing of Nikki Ross videos and reading many comments, I am please to offer you, her fans this.
This was from our Church Anniversary in March. Nikki Ross was our special guest psalmist. As always she brought it!

Nikki can sang but just like her and everybody else she borrows from her influences and makes it her own. Her lows sound sound smooth and swift like Kim Burrell and her highs are all Karen, its obvious. But while I am pointing everybody out Kim Burrell was influenced by The Clark Sisters so you hear a little Karen in everybody.... But guess what is wasn't about the song it was about the word to bad us young people get to caught up in the person we fail to realize that...

OK Kmaur21, let's face it, you just love super sopranos: that's your thing. (I like super sopranos too, but not as much). But not everyone cares about high notes or range that much LOL. Think about that when you compare singers. Hey, check out chains by Kirk Franklin. Melonie, Nikki & Sherri! Altho Melonie sang tenor. Oh, and about comparison, I don't know if u are a Christian or not... but, regardless, we don't accept the putting down of Christian ministers of music. Hope you understand why :)

Common. Nikki Ross is the one who jumps octaves in her runs. Like every song she sing, when she hits her high notes, she does it out of nowhere in an octave jumping sick run. If anyone just jumps octaves between Nikki and Karen, it is Nikki, because that is her style. Karen's style is different. Maybe you are thinking of how long they hold high notes. Nikki will jump octaves before you know what's going on, but she often does it really fast. Karen has a tendency to hold the highest notes longer.

Yup! At first when I heard her, I thought she sounded so much like Karen. But after actually listening to both Karen and her, the only thing similar about their singing is they both do vocal stunts and have a crazy range. Once you have an ear to hear the chords and runs they are doing, they sound very little like each other. I don't think I can hear Nikki singing anything and mistake her for Karen or vice versa.

Yeah it's funny, I too want to laugh. Funny because Nikki Ross has a long way to go backwards for her to fall into the class of the famous professional singers, but if she stays where she is, she is more qualified than the R & B singers you see on BET combined. It's also funny to be talking about Beyonce. Beyonce should not be spoken of. We can talk of Karen Clark or Nakitta Clegg or someone that even counts which beyonce does not as far as beastly singing goes. You are ridiculous. I'm out!

No one ever said anything about her weight being the reason why I compared her to a woman of a curvy figure as BEYONCE. I just stated that I feel (in my opinion) that B has more on her vocally when it comes to control and tone. As far as B being a 2 Soprano, that is true but each person on earth has different likings for different voices. Again its just an opinion, dont get your panties all up in a bunch!!! Nikki is a vocal beast; Beyonce is a vocal goddess!!!

OK Beyonce is a 2nd soprano, and Nikki is a 1st. Ppl naturally appreciate the control of 2nd sops more Bcos they can hear the effort being overcome in order for them to have control, whereas its seemingly effortless for 1st sops. So maybe I can see how a Beyonce fan will see her as having more cntrl; & Nikki Ross is bigger: ppl tend to be biased about control based on weight. Well Yolanda Adams is a slim 2nd sop who has close to as much control as Nikki. Yolanda or Beyonce, whose got more?

Unbiased people can see that even if you took every last one of Nikki Ross' runs away she has like a million times more control than Beyonce can dream about. Who holds notes longer... Nikki. Beyonce has better control and tone that is more soothing to the ears and musically all together. I cant see Nikki singing "Deja Vu" or "Dangerously In Love". Not knocking this good girl, but her control is their but for only so long during her performances. It seems to me that she runs out of breath sometimes throughout the songs, but other than that she's a beast!!!

I love Karen Clark Sheard, and I love Nikki Ross..just because the vocal stylings are similar doesnt mean that someone is trying to sound like her..Nikki has said herself that she notes Karen as an influence..Who wouldnt..But Nikki has her own sound..Karen aint mad about it so why ya upset!!!! I have seen the video of fantasia singing total praise and i would have to say that i feel this more than fantasia, which for me is saying something because i LOVE me some fantasia. Nikki Ross is giving her all into praising God so why is it that if someone sounds too polished or adds "embellishments" they arent annointed? Would the same be said about the legendary Karen Clark Sheard? This is her style and thats all, just like a whole lot of "growling" is fantasia's style.

I will have to agree with 1989NCCU, although this chick can SANG, when you are in ministry, the main focus should be MINISTRY and the self recognition. It's one thing to be skillful, but it takes the anointing to break yokes. PLEASE do not get the two confused. Compare this video to the recent Fantasia post on Bobby Jones gospel singing Total Praise. Even though Fantasia sings secular songs, It is no doubt she is anointed. But Nikki can sing and thats a fact, but anointed...I dont think so.

I have listened to Karen as a little kid since my mother loved listening to her, so i have a pretty good idea of what Karen can do. Nikki maybe be a new singer but that does not mean she is less of a singer. Their voices sound a little different but they have the same ability (outside of high, or jazzy runs.) Nikki is there. She can run, sing jazz licks, sing high, and scat just like Karen can.

I can tell that a lot of these people are not singers. Well this is coming from a trained singer. You have to look at their abilities and what they can do individually. Now if you are talking about Beyonce, then she cant compare to Nikki. Beyonce cant do those runs and jazz licks that Nikki or Karen can do but they can sing like Beyonce. Its harder to sing the way Nikki and Karen sing than the way Beyonce sings. It takes serious control and an amazing ear to hear and sing those licks.

Don't come for Karen, have u seen her live recently?? After vocal rest she goes just as hard as when Finally Karen came out. I used to think the same thing until I went to see her live a few times. I love Dorinda but if you listen Dorinda now and back then when she was in her prime and you couldn't tell the difference between her and Karen, you'll notice that time has impacted her voice as well as any vocalist who goes hard.

Karen was in her prime then..but even now Karen is still killin' and sometimes dependin on the performance it was just as if she was still in her prime..people try to compare Karen and Nikki but the truth is you hear Karen in a lot things Nikki does especially those vocal acrobatics because she was one of her major vocal influences..however they are both annointed

I like it when singers do a lot but on the other hand I can understand why they calm down with maturity..they've learned that some things a song can just do without..riffs and runs should be placed in good taste throughout a song, they shouldn't dominate a song..the message can sometimes be lost in the midst of the craziness..so what we like others may not..I can respect that

Now...If you are comparing Karen to Nikki. You cant really say that one is better than the other because one doesnt do anything that the other cannot do. You cant go by the performance or what song you like or how entertaining it was or whos been around longer. You have to look at raw ability. And Karen and Nikki are the same.

She is Phenomenal. But she still doesnt touch Karen. You can not compare them two. Now the other Clark Sisters she does give them a run for there money. But when the anointing is on you, you would be suprised on what you can do. So either way they are all amazing and anointed.

Karen and Nikki are not the same as far as raw vocal ability they are similar..Karen is only one of many major vocal influences of Nikki..she's gettin there but there are some things Karen can do and has done that no one has even tried to duplicate outside of high, or jazzy run. It is my belief that Nikki's runs are closer to Karens. Karen's runs are complex and long and are just crazy. Karen's runs are classic. Kim's runs are just in the pocket meaning their so clean and jazzy and smooth it's amazing. Only other person whose can run like her is Jazmine Sullivan. Now Nikki is VERY COMPLEX! I believe that her runs are (especially when she's on the piano) very thought out and shes in a league of her own. Nikki is Jazz to the bone.

Thanks. Glad you all like it. I was looking around for promo video of her on the net before she came to our church and all I found was videos on YT. Most of the vids were not of good quality or sound. So when I saw the fan base she has on YT, I just knew that I had to get her the best recording possible out here. I'm going to post the song she did in the day service too. Hopefully the quality of the conversion will be better. I think I'll use a larger file next time.
