Thanks for the review, gentlemen. I picked up a bottle of this a few months ago, but do not wanna open it not having a back up. I was pretty lucky to find it online. I was told by a Nikka rep that they were going to be releasing a lot more of the age statement. Let’s hope

Interesting discussion. Only have two Nikkas, the Coffey Grain and Whisky From the Barrel. Like the From the Barrel and great value. These age stated Japanese are too refined and subtle and expensive for me. Good to hear you enjoyed so much.

I remember Yoichi 10 from the first time round. Personally, I always preferred the Miyagikyo 10 (I still have a bottle) but that's just me. I like them both. Having tried the NAS options of both I can state, with confidence, that the NAS are soooo overpriced. Nowhere as good as the age statements that used to cost £40 a bottle before the discontinuation. Suntory bottled the Hakushu and Yamazaki at 43% and Nikka went a bit higher at 45%. The point is that these whiskies were made to be drunk with ice in Japan so they were chill-filtered and coloured. I'm pleased you like it but my issue with these Japanese drinks was decided many years ago. Yoichi 10 or Springbank 10? Or even Ledaig 10 which I can buy for less than £40 a bottle? It's the same for all the Japanese age-statements. Much as I like Japanese whisky they are just not worth it any more. These days I'd give the Yoichi 10 a respectable 85/100.

Love Yoichi and Miyagikyo NAS. Where I have seen this, it is triple the price of the NAS, so I am going to wait and see if it gets more reasonable? 😅 Cheers

What's the NAS running you? They're about 90 here so around half almost exactly.

You might want to try a little J T Melecks whiskey if you can get your hands on some. Surprisingly good....

I actually have had a single barrel rice whisky...not sure how that would relate. Really good for what it was but doesn't make sense for a video given it's obscure and a single barrel. Do they have something peated?

Anything with an age statement is shockingly expensive. Single cask Ardbeg is cheap by comparison.

I probably prefer the Miyagikyo but that’s only bc I send videos of me pouring a glass while speaking in the drunken Mr Miyagi voice and laugh to send to my buddies.
