This conjuring is underrated bcuz its so heavily compared to the previous two. I found this movie pretty great with the new type of style to it with the thriller/crime/curse aspect.

For me it did live up to the conjuring universe standards. People were expecting to see possession and ghosts but not an actual person cursing people.

When I was about 17 - I was staying with my uncle and he was away for business so I was alone in the house. Keep in mind I had already experienced paranormal activity in the house, hearing footsteps walking around the bedroom at night (never bothered me though and this was before I saw Paranormal Activity) I was watching TV and the volume would slowly go down. the sound system had a knob you turned to make it go down and a digital display that shows the volume number. I couldn't tell if the knob was turning or not but about three times in the space of 2 hours the volume just slowly started going down till it was zero. the third time I hit the roof and started calling people. no one was answering which freaked me out more. I tried my dads phone (which was a long shot cause he only had that thing for emergencies only, he doesn't bother with phones lol) and he actually answered. I told him what was happening fully expecting him to be like its not real but no, he started telling me that it could be real and he experienced paranormal stuff before - jeez thanks dad. I was alone in the house and he was like 4000k kms away lol I spoke to my mum about it a few days later and she said that when she was doing prayer groups in church she saw a frog come out of someone's throat. I didn't think she believed in it either lol but makes sense cause she made me and my siblings swear on our lives to never use a Ouija board lol Anyways, it wouldn't have been anything bad, my uncles wife died of breast cancer about 6 years before the incident. I never told him about what happened. Anyways that's the only ghost story that I have so far. Not keen on adding to that though tbh especially after watching Paranormal Activity, I grew up thinking ghosts were just lost souls and harmless, never occurred to me that it could be something else or something sinister. Movie gave me a perspective shift and freaked me right the hell out. I hope you watch it at some point.

I have read one of the 2 books that this movie is based on. The Devil in Connecticut. I think the other is, The Devil In Massachusetts. The one I read has pictures of the original family, the Glatzels. Some of those pictures are shown at the end of the movie. I love that the book describes more than the movie shows. Now I want to read the second book more. lol Hope I can still get a copy.
