I wish that I still had my old copy of this lens, it was really unique, flaws & all. I may, someday, get another. 📸

There's a lot to love about this lens, I can't wait to use it some more, it certainly does give you images with a unique look to them.

Cracking video Karl 👏🏻. Some excellent stills and the bokeh does have an unusual character to it from what I could see. I've never owned one, the f1.4 was as expensive as I could ever afford when I was using an F3. Would you say it vignettes much wide open?

@@photographyforenjoyment Thank you Alan, I've not had any experience with the f1.4 , and until recently I've avoided Nikkor lenses purely down to the cost, it does vignette a little, but I wouldn't say excessively, although personally I'm not that worried about a lens that vignette's when wide open, in fact I feel it can help draw the eye into the photo, but I suppose it's very subjective and a matter of personal taste.

tyvm for the vid. I still can't decide if I should trade in my Nikkor 55mm f1.2 for this lens. Center sharpness wide open does count for something.

@@seoulrydr I almost got the 55 f 1.2 instead of this one, I was wondering how they would compare?

@fistfulloflenses that's exactly what I'm curious about. I really don't need both.

Indeed, one of the most characterful lenses that Nikon ever made. I bought a beat up Ai version back in the late 90's and it still delivers excellent performance.

There's certainly been a lot of great Nikon lenses made over the years, I've been impressed with the one's I've tried so far, particularly the build quality.

with the HHGTTG link, I would have thought a 42mm lens would be more appropriate! it has that lovely old bokeh I think
