What do you think about the StarTrckr? Should I continue working on the project? Here you can read more: indystry.cc/3-axis-star-tracking-system-for-astrophotography-startrckr/

I think it’s a great idea and one that many many people would like to build when it’s a more polished design. It looks like you’ve already created a good basis for it. I can see lots of improvements that could be made. I love your idea of trying to use ML to self align, I’m not aware of any of the commercial scopes doing this but it makes sense as image recognition is well with the capabilities of ML and the images should never be abstract as the night sky is always the same. It would be great to turn this into a community project where other people can contribute on parts of it.

take the brightest star and its ephemeral data and calibrate the machine accordingly. you may use the Sun, Moon, Venus etc. Nery Nice project 👍

To improve alignment: You should consider plate-solving your images - this will tell you your pointing position on the sky. You can use this information (from 3+ points) to determine how far misaligned you are from the pole. With a larger collection of these points you can also produce something called a pointing model to help correct for any pointing errors. Likewise, you should characterise your motors behaviour over larger tracking angles, as that might be an underlying issue. Lastly, a guiding algorithm would really help! Excellent video! Congratulations on your success with the project. I will read your thesis. I am in the process of assembling your dremel cnc from a few years ago. I purchased the parts in April of 2023, but they have been sitting unused until March, 2024. I have watched many of your videos. It is great to see you grow from an enthusiastic youth to a mature young man. Keep it up, Nikodem!

Hi Nikodem! You'll get your bachelor thanks to your skills and knowledge! Great project as well. Poland is rich of its brilliant youth, you are one of them arguably. But my greatest pleasure is to hear that LaTex is STILL RELEVANT and the best editor for sciences! It was already the case in early 80's, it's gorgeously still relevant 40 years later! LaTex deserves respect and use. Congrats my friend. I'm glad that you rapidly reach above 100k subscribers. My uncle and I were among the few first who understood that your channel would be a great one. Have a great year my friend. From Strasbourg, France.

i always like diy astro(photography) projects, so yes please continue this and other projects! (yeah i do like your normal projects too ;) ) something i noticed, i saw a lot of whobble in the star trails and with tracking on wobble around the star. so probably your mount is just not ridgid enough. maybe instead of connection the 3 axis on one another (which makes a really long and bouncy arm), you could try to use 2 U shaped forks for the first and second axis. i think that will be a lot stiffer and thus improves the image quality. also put the camera on the ground instead of on a table. and lastly you could place a wind shield so the wind will not affect the camera.

You know there are 10s or thousands of Amateur Radio operators that would love to see an affordable Az/El antenna rotor. To overkill such a design NEMA 23 motors are a must. Contact me direct if you want to pursue such a project. The SW side and protocol is already done BTW. This could easily be 100s of times bigger than your CNC.

interesting project! But why isn't single motor axis enough? You just need the bend mechanism to set its rotation axis to be parallel with the Earth's one
@nikodembartnik
@nikodembartnik 8 ай бұрын
Sure, it is enough as mentioned in the case of equatorial mounts (you need the second axis to be able to rotate the camera and point it wherever you need. With my system calibration is easier as can be completely automated (even on a table that is not leveled) but that's not ready yet. It's also easier to not only compensate for rotation of the earth but track the moon, planets and even satellites :) But that's all upgrades planned for the future.

The criteria at the university are low. This is a hyperintellectualization of a simple problem. Stars are not dots - is that the left until the endа? If so, the problem is not solved. It's easy to look "fancy" today - caddies, 3D printer,.. ready-made modules,.. slopes are measured with a phone. My impression is that this is not a good solution.
