I "sort of" learned these solos years ago, but never had it quite nailed, and could never find a good on-line tutorial for them. Thank you so much for such a professionally done, easy to follow tutorial. You totally nailed it, and not only having the tabs simultaneously, but also breaking the final solo into easily digestible parts is a game-changer. On behalf of millions of guitarists, thank you!!

If one listens to the solo one might say "it's just a bunch of blues licks". Now grab that guitar and try to get it right. It's a pain in the a$$ because it's not just a bunch of blues licks. Those blue licks are placed in places only King David Gilmour could have imagined, totally odd places to start and end the phrases, unexpected turns, etc. AND FEEL. I have been tryng to learn this thing for years and quit after a few attempts every time. Lately i resurrected an old session i have for a cover of this song and i finished everything, bass, vocals, drums, keyboards, orchestra, but the solo is stopping me from finishing the damn thing because it's not just a bunch of blues licks, folks. It's a King David Gilmour's masterpiece and not many can recreate it well. This lesson is the most helpful i found so far on the internet. Great job. Thank you.

Oh Boy! Big mistake! Recently, I turned to a TV channel that was showing a Pink Floyd concert in Venice and my wife saw it (1st time she had ever heard of Pink Floyd) and asked if I could play this song. I said no, I haven't learned any of their songs. She said why not, don't you have a guitar like that one. I said yes, it's a Stratocaster, but I don't have those skills. She said, you can play good, can't you learn it?...I love that song. So here I am subscribed! Thanks Mr. Gugoski for posting this excellent tutorial...now back to my Strat. I got work to do! :)

I am ready to play the 4th one in a live gig and about 3/4s of the way from memorizing notes on the 5th. I like to start a new song before I finish learning a previous one, so I just started with Comfortably Numb. Also, had Covid 19 and so lost some time then. Thanks for putting this together. Having lived during the 70s and experiencing all of these really great rock bands and several epic solos, it might be easy to get lost in the jungle. Yet one evening several years ago I listened to 'The Wall' again. It had always been a favorite. This solo somehow rose to the top. It was like really hearing it for the first time. It's freekin' brilliant. Gilmour has had many great solos but there's something really special about this one. Really special.

This is great work - Thank you for it. I have trouble remembering the second solo because it’s so damn long. I finally got it down pat a couple of years ago, then stopped playing it for several months and forgot it again and I am now relearning it. It’s easy to play but tough to commit to memory. My only criticism of this is that I’d have split part 1 of the second solo into halves so that each part consisted of 4 measures, instead of part 1 consisting of 8 and the others 4. But that’s nitpicking...

I've been practicing these solos for a couple days. The 2nd solo just doesn't stop. I'm on part 3. Almost there lol. I used to play Roger Water's rhythm and bass parts with my friend while he played the Gilmore leads. I envied my friend's soloing abilities and wished I could play and remember all those licks. You and my buddy play the closest note for note Gilmore. Check him out. Nik Drown. Next I will work Time. Your videos are 👍👍👍👍👍

@@nikolagugoski I stopped making requests long time ago because I know your time is limited and you get a ton of requests 😁 But I like most David Gilmour, Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, Jimi Hendrix, Guns n Roses, most of the rock classics. Of course no one beats John Frusciante and RHCP, but still it's nice to expand the options 😁 Discovering and subscribing to your channel was one of the best things ever ! Wish you all the best, Nikola! 👍🍻

Nicely played out, however what bugs me a bit is, that the tab only turns to the next page, when you have already started playing that bit, isntead of giving a little heads up.

I like how you use your index finger to mute string noise when bending with the ring finger. You also take care in lifting fingers not in use to be clear on which fingers are used and where. Thanks for the well thought out lesson. Best solo ever!

Dude this is actually nice. With you playing slow, you can hear every note and how you can start with that shred rhythm. Because I learned it’s harder to hit those notes on time than to actually play fast.

It's a pinch harmonic. Just give it a good pluck and let the string just touch the skin of your thumb after you pluck it, all one quick motion... This comment is a year old hopefully you have either learned this already, you don't play guitar anymore or I just done you a solid. All the best.

@mariamachattie8436 Yeah in guitar, there's tap, natural and pinch harmonics off the top of my head. Tap is the hard one, it's the same motion but applying a bar, hammer on, pull off and catching the harmonic in one motion. Thats the tough stuff, especially over 7 or 8 strings like some of the modern guys can do.
