Tabs: smarturl.it/Comfortablyextended One of my all time favorite guitar solo by one of my very top favorite guitar players - The legendary Sir David Gilmour 🙌 I didn't want to come up with just another Comfortably Numb solo... I wanted to create a meaningful solo that will be long enough to help me put my soul in it. I wanted to get to a point where I clear my mind from everything, and don't think at all about what and how to play. To just let my heart and fingers do everything. I think that I succeeded with a few licks... Especially towards the end :) I'm pretty sure that most of you will not make it through the ALL 10 minutes, but I'd appreciate if you let me know if there were parts that you liked more. The guitar that I play is the all-new Fender Stratocaster American Ultra HSS in Cobra Blue. Fender did a great job with this new model.The neck shape is to die for! Absolutely perfect and exactly how I like a Strat's neck. The Cobra Blue color is absolutely beautiful. It looks lovely on screen but even more amazing in person. And the dark rosewood fretboard really surprised me in a very good way - This is Custom shop level wood! Find out more about the Fender Ultra Stratocaster: smarturl.it/stratultra 🎸 Trying to learn guitar? Try the 14 day FREE trial at GuitarTricks with over 11,000 lessons: smarturl.it/LearnToPlayGuitar

My god man. I have been on this earth for 45 years. Seen and heard a lot of solos in my time. And that was by far the most emotional, yet improvisational, and all while staying on the natural melody of the original solo I have ever witnessed. @BW-sh5vq4 жыл бұрын
Ok here's my thoughts for what they are worth. For me a 10 minute solo is not difficult to listen to as long as it doesn't become redundant, which yours did not. It can be extremely difficult to find enough expression to fill that amount of time and keep the listener attentive. Personally I was on the edge of my seat the whole time waiting and anticipating the next expression. Your phrasing and use of harmonics as well as the roll offs were quite good, I think that even Sir David would be pleased with that performance. David Gilmour is a very high bar to reach indeed because he is so emotional and expressive in his playing and these are the nuances that I think most covers miss. You simply cannot play Sir David from ones head, it must come from inside and I think you captured that quite beautifully. Sir David is my favorite artist of all time and so I tend to be very particular when someone produces a cover of him and usually won't even listen to them. That being said, when i saw in your headline "but it's a 10 minute solo", I thought, this I've got to see. Because I knew that in 10 minutes you'd have to be adding some of your own interpretation. I must say that I happy to have listened, and yes, I sat through the whole thing. Long story short.....I think you did a splendid job of not only capturing many of David's nuances, but the addition of your own personal interpretations were simply spot on. I am new to your work, only having discovered this morning, but I hope to see more of it. Keep putting heart and soul into your music and you can't go wrong. 👍😎

@bubbleround20574 жыл бұрын
Can I listen to this through your ears some more, please? I find your thoughts worth more than you would admit :-). I'm curious if you would agree... Sir David, bless him, has in my head this particular gift and artistry. Almost every note is one of a kind, and he's musical journey seems to have a beginning and there's always a one way trip towards the end. It's like walking a path in the woods. All you see is trees, but every one is different, and the landscape always changing. If he (Gilmour) reuses ideas, he reshapes them every single time, I never listened hard enough. Have you ever found any repetition in his solos? That's my only concern for the 10 minute variation in this video. He is a very skillful musician, and covered all of Gilmour's work splendidly. His own style was showing in some later riffs. They are all good, I feel Sir David would only frown (and ever so slightly) at the 4 bar long loops. I don't agree with much of the shredding, but I won't question it. It's a bridge to a modern guitar sound, and Comfortably Numb is timeless piece, no? :-). Really good listen this.
@bubbleround20574 жыл бұрын
@@nanakveermehta7497 Haha, finally made time to give it a try. It's wild where he takes that song, the middle eastern vibe is really something and in good taste. Can't say I'm a big fan of reproducing vocal lines on instruments, but otherwise, that was a good listen. More talent and feel than I can ever hope for :-).

@@bigpartyartie The perfect balance between technical and emotional. Some people play fast just to show off and the emotions are no longer there, the instrument loses its value. Some people play emotional but very slow and dull, so it gets boring. I have literally listened to this guys solo hundreds of times almost daily since I first heard it. A couple of people I've shared it with have actually thanked me for doing so, and the feeling I've gotten from that thanks is something I feel the need to explain here but cant find the words. A few minutes ago when I read some of these comments it actually brought tears to my eyes that it affects so many others in the same positive and uplifting way. Thankfully because it confirms this guys amazing capability.. which in turn helps me explain away the tears I got from simply reading words about a new solo of an old song I've loved for over 40 years.

This is pure guitar heaven. This was one of my father (and me's) favourite songs, and my father having passed away a year ago, this touches all the feelings. You (should) know you are good when you can make somebody have a tear down an eye with playing the guitar. Thank's for your videos. I mean that.

@@smpleman that guy sounds very close to the Pulse version. But in reality, any guitar player will respect someone who can put their own twist rather than trying to copy a solo note for note to a T. Kfir played it spot on, but then threw in originality on top. But it's all subjective in the end.
