I think that one of the things that it was hard not to notice that the powers that be had Nikolas and Gia on the show prominently almost daily during this storyline which isn't the case with Nikolas and Ava. This is not even going into the fact that Nikolas's friends and family still keep their distance even though he and Ava have been married for over a year and Nikolas is really isolated. Gia and Nikolas spent a year building a life together that their friends and family envied but, I don't think anyone envies Nikolas's life with Ava and their children are being awkwardly thrown into this storyline when Ava and Nikolas have chosen to generally act like they don't have kids for over a year. Sonny and Carly made the effort to spend time with and have a relationship with each of their children. I liked a scene on the current GH where Nikolas shows some concern for his nephew Rocco because generally speaking right now he and Ava have only thought about themselves and their needs and Avery and Spencer really have been ignored while they chose to focus on their money and finances and Gia won't let him do that and he knows that even in this storyline.

I love how you mentioned Sonny and Carly in this post. I was heavily invested in the relationships between Nia and Carson in the 2000-2003 era. It was really sad how it was wrecked. If only they come back together again. I honestly don’t think I like LW’s Carly much. TB’s and SB were fantastic in the role. Honestly I believe they should have killed Carly in 2003 when she gave birth to Morgan. It would have been a great send off to her character. If Stephen Martinez version of Nikolas came back as well as Marisa Ramerez Gia I would hope they come back together as a couple. Nikolas and Gia brought out the best in each other.

@@TJMalana I like all three Carly's mentioned here with Sarah Brown being my favorite. Laura Wright being my 2nd favorite and Tamara being my third choice. It was hard not to notice how happy Carly and their children were to see Sonny after he regained his memory and that's what never really happened with Nikolas, Spencer feels unwanted by his father and he doesn't have a Mom. Nikolas in my opinion was a terrible choice to be a single father because he clearly needs Gia or someone around him that actually cares about him and will help him. Carly is given a strong storyline and isn't a damsel in distress with nothing to do. I am happy that she and Sonny had Morgan and have Donna now and that they really do make an effort to spend time with and have a relationship with each of their children.

I get why Nikolas is upset with Spencer. He was wrong, but his shunning him seems over the top given Spencer's reasons for acting out because his father wouldn't acknowledge him and choose a woman who threw him to the wolves over him. Saying his son was dead to him -- really? Nikolas has basically turned into everything he used to resent about Stefan and Helena.

@@nianikgia8432 I also understand why Nikolas is upset with Spencer but the problem is that Nikolas really brought all of this on himself by choosing to ignore Spencer. Sonny and Carly care about each of their children and no one feels ignored or left out and so Avery really was growing up in a happy household with Sonny and Carly where she knows that a lot of people love and care about her even when Ava ignored her. I also know that Tyler Christopher wanted more scenes with Spencer and didn't get them but there was no problem giving Jonathan Jackson's Lucky Spencer scenes with his sons. I don't think that the powers that be wanted Tyler Christopher back on "General Hospital" at all because normally when someone returns to a soap opera the powers that be give them a lot of screen time and a good storyline but Tyler Christopher didn't get that when he returned. This was easily Nikolas's best storyline.

@@amusicfan25a21 I agree. Even after he faked his death, he could've bothered to reach out and didn't. Spencer needs therapy but his issues are a direct results of Nikolas's "parenting." Coltin/Stephen was my favorite, but I'd take Tyler over the guy the have now.
